Ah, yes, Eldritch and Co on the cusp of Goth and metal, before they fell right over into metal. The SoM sound is really distinctive - the echoey drums alone marks out their songs, added to which the esoteric, gnomic lyrics sung in Eldritch's, well, eldritch voice, nail them on. I particularly liked the songs with choral backing, like this effort. Floodland is a desert island disc for me, one that I would never be without, yea even beyond the grave.  8 from the closet Goth Nottingham jury.

Wow! New Model Army yesterday, Black Sabbath this morning, Sisters Of Mercy this afternoon.
(Sorry if you happen to be 5 or so hours behind). You can't say you don't get variety on RP.

though I'd never spin this record at home or would ever buy it, I always felt secretly delighted when this song got played at the disco (the rocking kind). it's an inspiring (guilty pleasure) song when you're out dancing... (though I wouldn't dance to it...just watch the others dancing)

  True. The Sisters slipped from Goth into standard HM with their Vision Thing album, and aren't a patch on the Sisters of the 80s who were dark, edgy and innovative (that special drum sound, for a start). This is ok but is a pale shadow of their previous self. 6 from the (closet Goth) Nottingham jury.
