Oh, the world is hard to understand
It's better to forget now
Why was I left all alone
To fight the darkness that surrounds me?

Clouds in the upstairs
Clouds in the memory

I'm a headline, non-existent person
I'm a shell with no name
I am no one, family doesn't want me
No one comes to claim me, claim me

With scars on my forehead
Scars on my memory
I've got scars on my poor hands
Scars all over me

I know, I know, I know who I am
I know, I think I should know
I think I should know who I am

I remember me
I remember me
I remember me

Because I am the daughter of a soldier
You won't see me crying
'Malenkaya' that's what papa called me
So I always will be, will be

With clouds in the upstairs
Clouds in the memory
I've got clouds in the upstairs
Clouds in the memory

I've got clouds in the upstairs
But I still remember

I remember me, I remember me
I remember me in the back of my head
In the middle of the night

In the back of my head
In the back of my head
In the back of my head
In the back of my head

I love love love this song.  The lyrics speak to my life, accurately.  Lovely.
The Edge wants his delay pedal back.
I miss this album… fantastic band. very strong voice and lyrics combined with great guitars and a beat

The vocalist doesn't sound much like Harriet, but the guitar riff sure does sound like the Sundays.
Pink Floyd meets Cocteau Twins? With a U2 touch....
O wow - I have that CD - forgot all about them.
Interesting lyrics....

Boring.
Vastly underrated band.
LOVE the Innocence Mission.  This is the first time that I've heard them on RP, though I'm glad of it!
The US version of The Sundays ;-)

Oh, wow - her voice was so much stronger back then - still beautiful, but the new stuff is more ethereal. I love the difference. And I still love The Innocence Mission - the whole combination of vocals and music that they blend together makes a beautiful aural tapestry..

yaaasssss : )
Sounds like they're singing about Alzheimer's...
Wow. I haven't heard this in a long time. I used to DJ at a local public radio station back then, and this is one of the songs I played. Thanks, RP
Karin and Don.........Still love their stuff today.
Interesting story reading the lyrics to SSPU's Growing Old Is Getting Old (previous song in this set) before these.
I hope you remember you cuz I sure the heck don't.. {#Cheesygrin}
I didn't hear enough of it to say but my knee jerk is a 6.  I'll have to hear more of it before I rate this though.
still love this album. produced by larry klein, if i recall correctly.
really like this--but actually thought it was the Cocteau Twins...

Starts off sounding like Gilmour ends up sounding more like the Edge.  Neat how guitars have voices too. :D

Reminds me of "Lone Justice" lead singer, Maria McKee.  Saw them with U2 in LA in the 80's....great show.

Too much U2 guitar's for an hour

The intro did sound very U2 and I was bracing myself for St Bonio's voice to cut in, and was then very pleasantly surprised.

Reminds me of the Golden Palominos – which is a very good thing.
The opening guitar sounds like Gilmour's licks from The Wall. This gets a 9. Why the hell have I never heard of this before?
This sounds like The Call with a woman singing.
Never heard of these guys— not sure how that happened, since they've been around since '89! Nice enough tune to motivate me to do a bit of exploring on Rhapsody.
Interesting.....retro for sure..

I really like their newer stuff...this leaves me .well..bored actually {#Rolleyes}

I am really developing a liking for everything I hear from this group.  This piece reminds me a bit of Jefferson Airplane or Spanky and our Gang.
Karen has really "found her voice" since this 20-year-old song. Very different nowadays.
Now, this is good 80's music. And never heard them until I found RP...

This is way more 80s and less precious than the other stuff I've heard from them.  I think I would have sort of liked this around 10 years ago.  It's still pretty good, don't know if I like it yet though... hmm

People called and they want funny skits back...{#Wink}

I remember meeting Karen in 1991 at Slims in San Francisco. I asked her to sign my copy of this album and she was so timid and shy I thought she was going to cry.

Wish these guys had gotten more airplay. They came on the scene just as radio began shutting everyone out except Brittany, 50 cent and sure hits of yore played o'er & o'er. They had a vocal/guitar sonic soundscape approach to song much like the Sundays or a more coherent version of the Cocteau Twins. Less of a traditional pop approach and more of a soundscape element.
nice well thought out remark

I've dissed their live performance elsewhere, but they sure have made some excellent music - especially this one.
Love them!
Want to see a great clip of them playing this song on tv? Follow this link, it's a really good performance! And Karen is such a doll...wow. (click here)
Thank you so much for playing this, Bill! Great memories from this song.
Most excellent. I like these dudes. Bummed I've missed them all these years.
Ohhh, the first (and my favorite) Innocence album! nice memories!
