Thanks for the Spanish lesson!  What I meant to post should be as follows:

"Followed up by Rodrigo y Gabriela with THEIR cover of Stairway to Heaven would be a great "mash-up" in my humble opinion."
Beautiful rendition of. Play also Jeff Healy? George, who played in a band had nice things to say about his cover 😎
PS -- Jeff was a blind lapster 💚

This guy is a ukulele virtuoso.

I sure hope I was wise enough to see him there.  There's always so much fantastic music, it's hard to keep track.

Not regarding this particular version in particular, but -- in general -- just how many version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" does the world need? Lovely song. I am fond of it. Kind of like I adore Cohen's "Hallelujah." But, you know, how many...oh, well. Can't stop the tide, I guess.

At least one more:

The first half is nice enough, the second half is scorching.

I admire the performance but i can't honestly encourage it.

Agreed: the Beatles' version had originality, but IMO, this is vastly more involving.
(Note: just my opinion - to each our own!)

A long time ago, a young Jake uploaded a version of himself playing this sitting on a rock in a park somewhere. (link below) A fellow guitar player told me I had to check it out. I did. And  after I picked my jaw up off the floor, I watched it two more times. An amazing performance, much better I think, than his studio work (which is still great).

Holy crap, indeed.  The video frame rate can't even keep up with his dang hands!

BTW, at the beginning he says he's in Central Park at the Strawberry Fields area.
insulting segway from g Harrison song just played
A pleasure. A rare cover that complements the original.
A little "Rockman" effect would help.
While my Ukulele kinda sobs

D'oh! I was going to say that!
Really enjoyable instrumental cover of the Beatles song

Sadly, he didn't - he died in 2001, and this cover is from 2006.

I agree.  What a knob. Lets see him pick up a uke and play like this guy.. mrgus wrote:

Good selection to follow a George Harrison track :) It's an 8 for me

Maybe you didn't stick around till the end....Jake kicks ass on this....though a few Monday's ago at work, one of the customers (an older Hawaiian dude) took out his Ukulele and serenaded the entire building with true Aloha spirit, so based on that memory and how bad as Jake gets on this, I'm going +1 to 8...LLRP and Aloha!
If you didn't stick around till the end, you missed it.
Saw him do this live a few months ago. Wonderful! If you ever have a chance ...
No gentle weeping here for crying out loud!

Saw him at the Byron Bay Blues Fest in Australia last year it was fnatastic. A great act and he did a guest spot with Devon Allman and his band

The fall-winter catalog for the University Musical Society finally arrived this morning.  Jake is playing venerable Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor on Nov. 19.

The blurb promoting his appearance says that Jake collaborated with Alan Parsons on this album. Good company.

If I have to hear this song, this is the version I would prefer.  I just don't like the overplayed Beatles.  I have to hear them played every single day here at work.

Ironic, considering that his was a throwback schtick.
Why can I not rate this higher than 10?!?

WHY?!?
Tiny Tim was ahead of his time.
A lovely, quiet interlude.  :)  Well done.

seeing Jake in Seattle in April with my 16-yr old, who plays this nonstop on his uke. may be the best song ever written--and certainly an amazing version. and...4 strings?!!
{#Notworthy}
four, count them four strings....
Quite likable.
Virtuoso performance.......
PSD time.

Used to feel the love for this one but its getting old fast.

The percussion and other stuff that joins halfway through ruin it compared to him playing it solo in a park somewhere (where I first saw it on youtube).

7 -> 4
A very likable remake. Adds a lot while still respecting the original.
It's very nice and enjoyable. I'm rather over the original. This is a nice remake, fun, and the recording is excellent, great dynamics, sounds  great. And a great change of pace to listening ears. The composition is nicely formed. Hard to understand the negative comments, but to each their own. Then the next song... SRV Sky is Crying! Again, you have to appreciate the change of pace, particularly on the ears (and soul). RADIO PARADISE IS HEROIC - LOVE YOU GUYS!
The only thing that helps this song is your PSD button.

Hmm. I was just thinking about how lovely I find this. So sweet. I have an errand to run and I can't leave while this is playing.
I think I like the original better.

This is now officially my favorite version of the song. I love the way it works on the uke, like a music box. Sweet.

Ukelele chops are great...but no point in this cover.
Once the swing/jazz section starts, it all makes sense, even the ukulele virtuoso label.

No...just no.

Well, I duuno.  I like covers, but ...  wait a minute, it picks up here ... maybe this will turn out OK.
it sucks! just decent in the first minute

That makes me wonder if there is a version done by a tuba quartet.
I dig this version more and more, it grows from 4 to 6 and that's not the finish.
His guitar doesn't weep at all. George Harrisson would if he heard what has become of his song.
that sure is a weeping guitar
Extraordinarily nice!
extraordinarily ordinary!
More cowbells {#Ask}
Yes

I appreciate the cover, but I don't know of a song that really, really needs a sweet breakdown in the middle of it.  {#Stupid}  7  —>  5
It was going to be a 6, then a 7, settling at 8. One of my few.
what´s this supposed to be? Very painful...........

No wonder that Floyd, Queen and other retirement-boppers are so popular here.

..with the ranging detours, one wonders why he even needed to cover anything..good playin, but just sayin'..
It´s just like listening this song played in "Cuatro"  one of the three national instruments from Venezuela, my contry. the others are maraca and arp "Arpa, cuatro y maracas"....

Just saw Jake Shimabukuro at the Music Instrument Museum last night 11/15/2012.  If you EVER have an opportunity to see him THEN DO IT!!!  It was a breathtaking performance.  He is an absolute Master on the instrument.
A song about a guitar being played on a ukelele - the very definition of irony! Love it!
I like it.
Painfully irritating.
Pales in comparison to the original.
Would rather hear the original but still a cool treatment of a classic

Look up crass in your Funk and Wagnell's, or if you prefer: Dictionary.com:

crass

<kras> Show IPA
adjective, crass·er, crass·est.
1.
without refinement, delicacy, or sensitivity; gross; obtuse; stupid: crass commercialism; a crass misrepresentation of the facts.
2.
Archaic . thick; coarse.

JUst because you can doesn't mean it is a good idea,,  uughh.  Yeah the guitar weeps to hear this covered on a uke.  Sucks...
After the ten thousandth time hearing this, I feel the urge to change my 7 to a 4.
Better than it could have been, but I still don't endorse it. Minus a point for the gratuitous handclapping midway through.
While my broom silently sweeps!

See if this works… Rodrigo Y Gabriela; it's one of my favs. (Watch to at least the middle, if you think it's tedious at first; also, this isn't the best video of them doing this, but it's the best I could find amidst all the wannabees that dilute YouTube content now.)
heartbreakingly beautiful!

Ooooo… nneat!! ‘got any bedroom recordings of stairway to heaven or freebird laying around? My total favorites are covers of Barry Manilow’s Copa Cobana. MMmmyea.. B.M is a dreamboat … I guess Robert Plant kinda gets my panties in a bunch too

needs to be 4 mins. shorter
You might not like this cover version —  but Harrison probably would. He loved the ukelele. The Concert for George Clapton cover is good too.
Very nice.  {#Daisy}
I do believe I heard this 2 days ago. It's nice; would be nicer if it dropped to once a month.
