Welcome back Manu,,,, it's been a long time
Manu Chao is actually pretty sophisticated politically. At least judging from an interview from his appearance on Austin City Limits, and some reading I did. His politics are pretty right on, I think.

That is, unless you prefer a shrinking middle class, a desperately poor working class, homeless and shell shocked veterans discarded as wasted tools of the corporate military / industrial state, steadily falling real wages, exporting the U.S.'s erstwhile middle class foundational jobs to third world / second world countries, the upper two percent of the population controlling 90 plus percent of the nation's wealth (and steadily climbing), second world-standards health care for everyone but the rich, jingoism, racism, zenophobia and cultural / religious / sexual bigotry, denial, denigration and neglect of science and research & development, a rising police / intelligence state, dumbing down of the educational and media systems (and thus a creeping dumbing down of the populace), preemptive (illegal or otherwise) wars for petroleum and other natural resources, a rising tide of Fascism (yes, I know that's a red flag word... go read "The Fourteen Characteristics of Fascism" and tell me that isn't happening here in the U.S.), a social / political minority of "Tea Party" dupes of the corporate ruling class with disproportionate and undeserved influence...

... We could go on and on. Sigh. Some people just don't get it. Would rather be ostriches with their heads in the ground (or up some nether orifice).

peace,

steve

And a year + later - RP is still playing Manu Chao. So much for your revolution.

Welcome from Barcelona, friends of RP. But, this is not the best rumba. PERET is the rumba king of Barcelona. Since 1960. Originally.

It's Rumba time baby!! Ay Ya!! {#Dancingbanana_2}

Actualy, the lyrics are great, in a poignant, minimalistic manner.

Te mercé means:  "it belongs to Mercè" -  the patron of the city of Barcelona.

Te mercé ...

The music? not to my liking, but I certainly appreciate the diversity of RP and hope the international flavor will continue, for there are many, many culturaly diverse tracks out there I adore.
The album art? Creative as all get-out.  But disturbing as all hell! {#Eek}

I liked it but my spanish mate assures me that i would not like it if i knew what he was saying.  I told him not to tell me what he is saying - problem solved
Nice upload, Danny

Sorry to be blunt: but pretty much everything this guy does has turned out to be my personal definition of CRAP!

BTW: I live in BCN.

greetings!  Mr. José-Manuel Thomas Arthur Chao -
** 7 / 8 **

I love this stuff. I hear him on the local spanish stations and even at the flea market last weekend in one of those Mexican music stalls.

To Ignacio Lopez from "Barthelona": Hey Iggy..Hope all is well.
Oooh. A Manu Chao song without that "ping" sound! I like. I like very much.

It's only been an hour since we last heard a Latin song. Ai-yi-yi! Has this station been hijacked by Antonio Banderas?! WTF?! Maybe Bill should practice his hot Latin dance moves on his own time. Enough already! :puke:
"...on his own time." Hummmmmm. I kinda was under the impression that this is his website, not yours. He can play Philip Glass Drumming, if he wanted to--or Tammy Wynette, or a live feed from the floor of the NYSE, or whatever he wants. Its all his time. :angel: :angel:
I have to disagree with the haters. Music is good. Many channels to choose from. No like? The get thee hence posthaste.

Bill's pulling out some new songs-love this album cover.
Bugger, I wasn't first. :frustrated:
Well, finally I get to be first at something. Hope my spelling is right for such an honor. Hmm. Well, I like manu Chao even though it sounds the same all the time. there, what a earth shattering and revolutionary comment.
