This is not the original version and believe me, I remember.  I am suruprised that RP would do this.  I cannot give this a good score.  Please  play the original.

Absolutely the best slow dancing song in it's time.  As many other posts have pointed out this was the ONE to get real close and I mean REAL close to your dancing partner.  Ah the memories,...and as a certified old fart that's about all I have remaining.  A 9 pushing for 10 (if I dream a little more).

As another certified old fart I am truly sad this song wasn't getting any airplay in my country during my teenager slow dancing times
I  hope they are still living to see how long this song has been treasured.

Never noticed that organ part before but it's pretty nice

I wonder if this a result of pulling the track from YouTube, where cover versions have run amok in order to circumvent DMCA claims. William. Alanna. Please.

Bring back the original version.

Truly one of the classics, and still sounds great every time and place I hear it! Timeless, peerless, stellar tune! Connects in so many ways!
There was a commercial in the late 1990s that ruined this song, using the riff from it.  {#Mad}  And it was on constantly.

These kind of songs made me wonder as a kid if reincarnation did exist. So many ancient songs that feel you knew already.
I remember laying in my crib getting my diaper changed by a beautiful redhead and hearing this song.
Beautiful memory.
Vin Scelsa's closing theme song.

Early 90's, 1:08 AM on a hot, muggy August early Monday morning
Sitting on a milkcarton
My daughter in a snuggly cause she's cranky
4 floors above 99th St. out on the fire escape
Vin saying good night in the headphones
Don't go Vin
She's not asleep yet
Vin drawing his goodbyes out, like he always did
1:21 AM Vin finally wraps it up
Santo and Johnny,
"There's no place like home",
Flourish, FM radio silence, the silence of the street below me
And my daughter asleep on my chest

These guys did some great covers of early Beatles songs (then current!). Check out their version of Do You Want to Know a Secret?
Just watched the movie, Telling Lies in America, and this fabulous heirloom piece is playing in a classic 1961 Diner scene; good thing Bill is NOT the 'Billy Magic' type of sleazy DJ (played to the gleeful hilt by Kevin Bacon in one of his best acts!) and no one is paying to have songs played here! Thanks, RadioParadise, for being for real for us! I love you so much, and I love hearing great tunes like THIS!
8th grade rainy day sock hops during lunch recess. Slow dances with a lovely girl classmate as young hormones kept it interesting. Oh my, I really am an old fart.
This brings back memories from before I had memories.

one of my favorite instrumental songs. Danny Gaton does a good cover.
Good tune and played just often enough.  Monthly.  7 {#Clap}
A great classic!  Don't know any of their other tunes but this one sure has proved timeless.
I would prefer The Ventures' version but in any case, it's such a classic!
Cool

I've known this tune since I was a little kid; I don't really associate it with any movies or TV shows, but it guess it has been in many of them over the years.

Perfect description.  Now all I need is a rope hammock and a tropical drink - and a gorgeous sunset over the ocean...

Nice when it is cold and snowy in Oslo — it reminds me of warm days in Hawaii

Then, they took everything about me and put it into a computer where they created this model of my mind.

Yes!

Using that model they managed to generate every thought I could possibly have in the next, say, 10 years. Which they then filtered through a probability matrix of some kind to - to determine everything I was gonna do in that period. So you see, she knew I was gonna lead the Army of the Twelve Monkeys into the pages of history before it ever even occurred to me. She knows everything I'm ever gonna do before I know it myself. How's that?

What a classic, classy song! "10" from here! {#Clap}
Funny to read about all the happy memories associated with this song — I really only know it from 12 Monkeys, so it fills me with apocalyptic dread.  Great song, though.

Never occurred to me before now, but I suddenly thought that the main theme from Star Wars sounds just like this on steroids. Different key, and lots of horns instead of the sliding guitar, but essentially the same tune....

You get visions of Don "Bubbles" Ho and I get visions of George Hamilton and Delores Hart in "Where the Boys Are".  I saw Don Ho in Hawaii about 30 years ago.  He was "in his cups" and the bubbles flowed.

was this the original?
Brian Setzer Orchestra did a stunning version of this on their 2001 tour:

so perfect with the full moon on the ocean tonight ...
Sorry, Pawlsky, but it's Roy Buchanan's 'Sweet Dreams' you can hear over the end credits of 'The Departed' - the Scorcese movie. They're both lovely melodies.......

Ah yes, Sharon and me, it's 1962,the lights, dimmed, dancing to the dreamy sounds of Santo and Johnny,we're so close now a postage stamp couldn't be slipped between us. NOW I remember how all these kids of mine got here ! Thanks A LOT guys, you should be using some of your royalties to put our kids through collage. . .. Ok so they're 37 years old, I still need them to move out on their own ! "It's only rock and roll but I like it"-- -R.S. That_SOB Auguries of past and present provided.

I just love 1 sing guitars - this is true classic!
The song plays during the closing credits of Scorsese' The Departed. Without giving away any plot details, the song is playing while there is a rat on the screen. I think this is a reference to a popular ad campaign currently on TV here in the province of Quebec. The dairy producers of Quebec have used this song in their cheese ads and Scorsese makes a clever, albeit subtle, connection between rats and cheese. Perhaps Scorsese or someone in the crew or DiCaprio saw the ad when they were filming The Aviator in Montreal, liked the music and saw a use for it in the Departed.
what a great song to hear first thing in the morning in the office! I just wish I could remember where I know it from. At first I thought a soundtrack (I know La Bamba but that's not it... and it's not Hearts in Atlantis, The Dead Zone or 12 Monkeys either) Then I thought Jeff Lynne had covered it on Armchair Theatre? I'm stuck
I think it was also used in the Richie Valens movie although not written by Valens it is very indicative of the period ... and if you're going to slow dance in the gym ... TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES!

this song is played somewhere in the movie 12 Monkeys.
