I feel the same. Maybe this is because Yannick Noah was a famous Tennis-Player and came to music after this first career?
I didn't realize that Wayman Tisdale is now a serious jazz musician until a few days ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayman_Tisdale

Sounds very commercial, like something you would see on a TV award show...but hey, its new to me.

Come on, this is a joke ! In France he is so kitsch. It is so weak on studio and weaker live. who the hell uploaded this !
Agree totally. I do declare - why on earth is this crap played on RP?
is this the tennis player with the badass return?
There are those two jackasses that just won't stop with the clapping.

Agree. The CD on display in the RP/Amazon list is a double: one live + one studio. As usual Yannick is funnier live, more intimate on studio performance. You would need some French to go into the details of lyrics.

Désolé, une faute de frappe lors de l'upload et en principe maintenant corrigée sur la playlist RP.

FYI this is not Ali - could have been - this is me. Noah is neither kitsch nor a first rank pop star in France. Not sure you've been around here recently. Noah just took a wise turn after the end of his athelete's career as a tennis world-class champion, then national team coach some years ago. Now among other activities he is writing and singing lyrics and intimate songs with a bit of sense and humanity. As someone wrote it in this forum - to some point and with a narrower audience - Noah is on the same path than Sting about using their music for good causes. However I don't foresee Noah reaching the same level than Sting and he may well have no interest to push this way. More a carpe diem gifted person than anything else.

Did you like it ? Quite better when you understand the lyrics from Yannick. Once in a while one of my uploads goes through the music review supreme court ! Bonne journée !
This is beyond bad. In fact, its even worse than Noah's forehand. I remember Noah saying in the 80s that his musical hero was Bob Marley. Bob is turning over in his grave after hearing this monstrosity.

I thought I recognized that name. Who knew he went from tennis to music? John McEnroe, eat your heart out! Oh, the music? Very pleasant. He has a nice voice.
Coincidentally enough I just learned yesterday that he was now a musician in France, and apparently a huge success. I was watching a women's tennis match and they mentioned it. Who knew. I was old enough to catch the tail end of his playing career and he was one of my favorite players. Seems like a rad guy all around.
I knew Yannic was doing great music. And I most admit that it sounds a lot better than the swedish earlier pro Mats Wilander... :-)
The Real Title is "Simon Papa Tara", with an -R. It's a tribute to his grand-father. Thanks, RP!!!

Not bad for a tennis star. Besides the Bears Super Bowl Shuffle, are there any other good athlete/musicians?
John Barnes's rap in "World in motion" is the only one that comes to my mind. No, wait! Alexi Lalas, american soccer player. Because some of you americans play soccer even if you don't like to admit it.

I remember this guy from watching LOTS of tennis as a kid (late 70's to mid 80's). I wonder of Ilie Nastase ever put out any music?

Sounds a bit like a French Sting...
Wait, the tennis player?
I think it's really hard to judge a song/artist when the first exposure is a live version.
Got my toe tappin'.
Tennis anyone?
