For a long time I missed a "80s Mix" at RP. That cheerful motivating party music... Of course I never dared to ask for it, I mean the makers of RP can of course choose their favourite music genres, and I understand when "Rock" (which I love too) is much more important than silly 80s dance music.
But now I sense some change - Blondie tracks like this add what I missed, it seems.
Anyway, keep up the good work!

Raw,punchy and simply godlike.
So few words.
Such a Big Song!

Glastonbury 1999: Blondie, Patti Smith and Marianne Faithful. All were wonderful. I seem to remember Blondie playing top ten hits (including Atomic) for an hour or more but Glastonbury was a bit like the sixties - if you remember it clearly, you probably weren't there.
Excellent!
The drumming on this track is outstanding.
Man, I had forgotten how Magnificent she was...
GOOD TUNE!! ...IT THUMPS!!
It gets an 9 because the song (a cover) is on the Trainspotting soundtrack.
the verse is great but the single word chorus just doesn't cut it for me. 7

Makes me long for the time when my hair was beautiful. Not much left of that now.
Why is this not on the Atomic Blonde soundtrack!?! a wasted opportunity.
I always hear "Three Blind Mice" at the first few notes, but it quickly moves away from that.
Not one of my Debby Harry favorites -- "Your hair is beautiful tonight" lol -- but her voice soars nicely on this.

I hear that 'Heart Of Glass' organ sound creeping in now and then! Drums too.
The most POP band of the punk era. I used to like them back in the 80's, but now, I can't really take too much of them.
1980, Birmingham Odeon, a bunch of naive 15 year olds bopping and drooling in the mosh pit, song still resonates with me. Agree with some of the comments below, Clem Burke was a great drummer

Saw Blondie for the first time in the Odeon Cinema, Edinburgh Scotland. Audience went wild and there wasn't one seat that wasn't trampled to smithereens.

Interesting mix. Blondie does the Go-Gos
I always thought the drumming of Blondie was excellent.
Saw Blondie at Uptown Theater in Kansas City, circa 1975. They opened for the Kinks, and I and everyone I knew that went, was there only for the Kinks. Blondie wasn't known much yet, at least not in KC.
Blondie stole the show. They were FUN. Ray Davies apparently decided that we needed to see anti-FUN. He was obviously wishing to be somewhere else.

I saw them only a few years ago in Belfast and I was amazed at how young and vigorous Clem Burke (the drummer) was. He really thumped those drums for the whole gig and his drum kit was on raised dias for all to see and he really put on a show. Sometime later I found out that he was born the same year as me but he looks 20 years younger!
Debbie, my dream woman when I was 14 years old in 1979.
I have this vinyl album & did not recognize the tune. I had to Google-ize it to hear it again. I should give it a spin again. Been many many years.

In a time when the airwaves were flooded with Journey, Foreigner, Styx..... and worse, Blondie was a FUN alternative.
Forever a fan, even though I never cared for the genre much otherwise.

Cool photo. She's wearing a "Weee-O!" t-shirt; I'd forgotten about that. IIRC, it was a warehouse style/supermarket concept from A&P Grocery stores in the NYC area in the early 1970s.

I'm guessing they went to a Kraftwerk/Devo show the night before they filmed the video for this one.

I'm guessing that Blondie had a Big influence on modern synth-pop bands like Metric.

Deborah Harry + Clement Burke = Blondie
Saw them a few years ago and, after a sluggish start, they began to wail away with such energy that it caused me to think, "Oh yeah. They were a staple at CBGBs with the Ramones and Talking Heads. I can see why."

And they're an "80's" band which is another excuse for many to simply disregard them. There may have been a lot of soulless drum machines and such back then, but the musicians were just as ernest, talented, creative, etc. as in any other era.
