I walk the streets of Japan till I get lost
'Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
With a graveyard tan carrying a cross
Yeah, it doesn't remind me of anything
I like studying faces in a parking lot
'Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like driving backwards in the fog
'Cause it doesn't remind me of anything

The things that I've loved, the things that I've lost
Things I've held sacred, that I've dropped
I won't lie no more, you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need to forget

I like gypsy moths and radio talk
'Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like gospel music and canned applause
'Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like colorful clothing in the sun
'Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like hammering nails and speaking in tongues
'Cause it doesn't remind me of anything

The things that I've loved, the things that I've lost
Things I've held sacred, that I've dropped
I won't lie no more, you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need to forget

Bend and shape me
I love the way you are
Slow and sweetly
Like never before
Calm and sleeping
We won't stir up the past
So discretely
We won't look back

The things that I've loved, the things that I've lost
Things I've held sacred, that I've dropped
I won't lie no more, you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need to forget

I like throwing my voice and breaking guitars
'Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like playing in the sand, what's mine is ours
If it doesn't remind me of anything

Love the lyrics on this one. And so wish he was still driving backwards in the fog or getting lost in Japan --- R.I.P.

(aside: fun thing to do on a dreary sunday is writing your own version, taking a closer look at whatever it is that you like to do that doesn't remind you of anything)
This sound always pulls me in from whatever else I'm doing and makes me listen.
Rage plus Cornell. Light ‘‘em up!
Chris Cornell such a tortured soul. RIP
This is the only grunge band I ever liked
This is awful.
100% Pass. Yuck. Just doesn't do it for me... it annoys me.

maybe I'm just hungry.
6.9 for this is an absolute travesty. A beautiful song with perfect melody, drive, force and emotion. PLUS a RIPPING solo.
embrace the ambivalence of bliss? Thanks Chris - you shine bright forever!
"It doesn't look like anything to me."

- various characters in Westworld.

I miss him
Very cool bass line
I had the pleasure of meeting Chris Cornell in the mid-90's and interacting with him for a number of days.  In spite of his fame (and I'm sure a very fat wallet), he was a decent, kind and engaging guy without a whole bunch of ego.   So, when I hear this...well...what can one say?  Happy for his talents....and the memories he left.  Thanks Chris for being a good dude and leaving us gifts like this.

Stupid dope. Japan doesn't remind you of a sea of humanity? An urban watershed
bounded by the most beautiful nature you have ever seen? Why do you
even write 'music' and assault us with your maudlin, discouraging
nihilism? Are you so special? I guess nowhere on earth is interesting to
"Audiolslave' slaves. Go back to Mars, or find Kurt's gun and end it.

I wanted to reply how this comment didn't age well, but it was only posted a year ago. So I guess you just really don't have a clue.
The guitar and vocal in this song is one thing, but the bass line is pretty awesome as well.
.....he could do it all

What a fabulous and somewhat overlooked band. Rage ripping guitar with soaring Cornell vocals. Killer. So, wish I had seen them during their short run. Oh well. RIP Mr. Cornell; few have done it as well and even fewer, better.
Have seen them in 2005!) They brought - surprising for me - a few RageAgainstTheMachine Songs. What a great gig.

Chris Cornell had one of the best voices in rock, I would not categorize it as Screamy-mimi.

Bumped up to 8. I like the metaphor of walking in Japan not dragging up unpleasant memories. I listen to Radio Paradise for comparable reasons— to drown out the unpleasant thoughts that come so easily these days. Thanks for helping me see that.
I had to give this a bump from a 8->9 just as a protest to all the snot whining hate this song getting in the comments. Ya, some music does not peak into the cosmic frequency of perfection. Sometimes we need a mindless good song.  Box checked and thank you.

CC and EV are the voices to the soundtrack of my adolescence. I am still sad that CC is no longer with us and making music. That voice will be missed by many. Thankful for the songs we got.

Chris Cornell suffered from depression.  He committed suicide in 2017.  Almost every lyric of any artist is a personal own view.  You should not take it personally, are you so special?
hey remember that time a bunch of members of much better bands came together to make a mediocre forgettable band?
Not many voices like Chris.

Holy shit! Tom Morello actually wrings out a decent solo! Who woulda thunk it?
So sorry, but this is just "My Favourite Things" done in 3-chord 4-note simpleten'ness by this Soundgarten mess-up band. Have zero soul for bands called"Audioslave", the way I have for faithless uneducated drop-out 'hard-rock' sufferers who haven't read a book or been transported by a Chopin Impromptu, or Bruck's Violin Concerto #1. I'll stick to "The Sound Of Music" and stay away from the suicide gun, Kurt. Scream at yourself.
Deserves higher than 6.8

Use your thumb.
solo is annoying, good song though
I've gone 5 to 6 to 7 on this one and recently another bump to 8.  Maybe it's the inclusion of the lyric about Gypsy Moths, and the fact that we were recently warned about 'low flying aircraft' which were spraying for Gypsy Moths in our area....not sure if I've heard any other rock song include a reference like that.  Such is life and how my rating system works!  Long Live RP and Happy/Safe 4th to all us 'muricans.
Reminds me of something, but I just can't put my finger on it...
I agree it's not their most stirring song, but the lyrics are pretty profound.

I agree. And I think this is the third time I've heard it this week. Skipping...
Missing Chris Cornell!

I think  that guitar solo  is used to torture people who have committed a horrible crime against the state.
2 Ativan pills doesn't seem like much, It's so possible that autoerotic asphyxiation was involved in  Chris Cornell's death, as well as his pal Chester Bennington.
Guitar break doesn't work at all.
Sounds as if it belongs in a different song, or the shitcan.
Cornell is here, with his dark lyrics and delivery - which struck me as the this town's 'sound' in
the 90s. Grunge.
It has slowly faded out this millennia.
Get-togethers like 'Audioslave, 'Walking Papers', 'Pearl Jam' or Pearl Jam's guitarists involved
with something lame, and the current 'Grunge Again Movement' are sad, and at best an attempt to
sell past glory as current cutting edge music.
The young 'Progressives' are NOT into it.
It's been 26 years since 'Nevermind' was released, and the dust has just about cleared.
This song doesn't do much to remind me of that glorious explosion. Almost depressing.

What a fabulous and somewhat overlooked band. Rage ripping guitar with soaring Cornell vocals. Killer. So, wish I had seen them during their short run. Oh well. RIP Mr. Cornell; few have done it as well and even fewer, better.
I gave it an "8", read the lyrics, gave a "9".  Thanks Bill, I have overlooked this one.

How we live feel ours.
What's the difference between Audioslave and an autoclave? Not much.
This is exactly what this radio station represents... Heart is always classic!
Takes me back to school and my band.

But the lyrics mean more now I'm older. Turn it up!

Best 90s song not written in the actual 90s?  It's a contender for a sure.

The vocal minority sure hates this one though, which I'm genuinely puzzled by. I like Talking Heads a lot, but I can at least kind of understand that David Bryne's voice could be annoying to some people.

Grunge-tastic!  Rocks really hard and has pretty good lyrics too.  I don't get the hate for this at all.

Are you sure you understand RP's rating scale?
Yes, pretty far from Muzak for Alaskins.

Here's the thing.  I am generally in agreement with Morello's politics and his sense of rock and roll in general.  And Chris Cornell is one of the greatest singers of all time.  I just don't dig Tom's guitar solos - they are unique but to me disruptive of the flow of good songs - like this one.
No thank you
The vocals make this one for me
hell yeah {#Hearteyes}

Still prefer Soundgarden or Rage if I had to choose.
I haven't heard this in a while. Grunge-y and hot. Grates the ears, not for refined tastes, but still me like a lot that slamming backbeat and guitar break.

DOES remind me!  Don't even ask how many groups...
First listen for me.  A very good listen at that!
Oh yeah!  Hard to beat how they get down in the grunge on this bad boy!  It's interesting how many bands sing about the wild and invigorating short-term disconnections over there on Planet Japan; Collective Soul just to name another one: "No, there's no memories over Tokee-o...No, there's no memories over Tokee-o..." But for me, there were — and still are — maybe too many, sometimes...
Obnoxious!
oh lord. i love cornell in any match up. solo, soundgarden, audioslave...give me more cornell.
Toe tapp'n time!
I like Rage Against the Machine, I like Soundgarden...  but for some reason I really can't get into Chris Cornell and the majority of Rage playing together.  I feel like Chris's vocal style weakens the band, and it's unnatural not to hear more from Tom Morello's unusual style.
Yeah,more of this and Soundgarden,please😉
What a second... this is one I uploaded a ways back and it got the boot.
Now it's on the main.
Man, that happens to me a lot.

It does wonders to my upload averages. {#Eh}
Love that bass line!

great way to kick off a monday
WOW!  Great addition to the playlist!  Love Chris Cornell's voice. {#Sunny}

Give me Soundgarden and Rage any day. I give the album cover an 8.
