Wine spills in my blood
And your blood spills in my soul
You have no control
You have no control

Dead angels speak to me sometimes
Giving me advice that I should hear
You are what I'm looking for
Because you're close, because you're near

Wine spills in my blood tonight
And blood spills in my mouth
You have what I'm looking for
Oh, you are just pretend

Dead angels speak to me sometimes
Giving me advice that I should hear
You are what I'm looking for
Because you're close, because you're near

You are what I'm looking for
Oh, you are what I'm looking for
You are what I'm looking for
Oh, you

Dead angels speak to me sometimes
Giving me advice that I should hear
You are what I'm looking for
Oh, you... oh, you

You are what I'm looking for
Oh, you... oh, you

Moody. A bit Soundgarden-ish with it's tempo and gruffness. Just not so much angst, or Gruffalo.

1) I like it enough to rate it an 8
2) Not awful to my ears
3) I totally believe it's being played on RP

VAST is creeping up my list of "glad BillG turned me on to these guys" artists - totally jives with me and the sounds-like-Jim M helps too!  Long Live RP!!

And I just noticed (and not too surprised) to see Elektra records as the label for this group...I'll need to read up on WHY the label terminated the group in 2002 though...

Are you always shocked to discover that not everyone has the same taste as you?

No. FLAC rip from the CD. That's the way it's produced/mastered.

For those of us who've ever had to actually come up with a band name, and then had to live with it, on the posters, in the gig guide of the local rag, on the backdrop, on the front head of your kick drum, on the only 4 t-shirts in existance, on the inevitable 'sign in the back of the car', etc etc i'd just like to point out that saying - "it seemed like a good idea at the time" usually doesn't cut it with people who haven't.
I bet "VAST" came before 'Visual Audio etc' in the opposite of the way that say Big Audio Dynamite came up with theirs.

Love the vibe. A nice folky love song, with great rythm guitar and humming.

That's "Avast", ye landlubber.
I gave this a 7 before?! I must have thought I was rating something else. Moved it down to 3.
Breathy male voices singing poetry with whimsical titles... not my thing.
Ick. And ick to Ray Le Montaigne, too. Till later... I'm checking out now.

Discovered VAST thanks to RP, very few songs of theirs I dislike.
Thumbs up from me {#Good-vibes}
This could have been a Saybia song, very similar voices.

Gee Wally, this is pretty neat!
"Lost" is my favorite.
I quite enjoy VAST, but I'd rather hear Blown Away or Blue. This tune hasn't quite grown on me the way some of their other material has.

Funny, today for the very first time I too noticed the similarity between these two amazing bands. Thanks, Bill, for the introduction to both.

If it wasn't for RP I would have never discovered John and Vast. I love this band!

 Thank you very Much!

I hear a good song - I get "goose bumbs" ... this is one of those..!

I really like the vocal arrangement. I can hear my old theory teacher saying "do something the audience doesn't expect."

"you are what I'm looking for" they sang this phrase 18 times and i stopped counting - this song is followed but BoDeans - Fadeaway, which helped take away some of the aftertaste...

Yeah, I'll second that. This is the third Vast number I've heard on RP and all are bloody brilliant. Yet another fine band RP has alerted me to, so yet again thanks to Becky & Bill. 8 from the Nottingham jury. And kudos for making it part of a very fine and long Halloween sequence.

Oh yes...one of my favorite Vast songs! Nice to come back from lunch, pop on the headphones and have this playing. Thank you Bill!

Well, I really like this a lot.

Beck does that too. I think he played almost all the instruments on Odelay. Anyhow, this song is alright, but it's a bit too whiney IMO. A good old average 6.

Polly Jean should do a cover of this, a bucket of her edge would spank this tune to life.
Catchy, hip tune. Good stuff. I particularly like the harmonies and structure. Well-crafted is very very often a good thing. It is in this case.

What is wrong with carefully crafting excellent music, I assume that all the masters did just that. I admit this is not punk music(which is equally good) or head banger(which has it's hits), but you can't say that this music is not good. Who really cares how it was created.
 Great song. I would love to hear more from this band.
Strangely seductive and wonderfully awesome.
This is new to me. Interesting stuff. I like it.
hauntingly familiar....is this a cover?
You...are what I'm looking for... Hide me!!!!
Well, that's what you're reading into it. I find it a polished, finely wrought, carefully crafted, beautifully arranged composition, an aural portrait. Its not spontaneous and its not supposed to be, the effect generated is different but no less compelling. Like any art, its all in one's perspective. P.S. I go for live music too.

At first this was my least favorite VAST song on RP. But it's grown on me very much, it's up to an 8 at this point. I think I might pick up a couple of their albums, as everything that I hear from them I eventually like a lot.
Good tune!!
