Ahhh-ah-ah! Ahhh-ah-ah!

We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow
Hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands
To fight the horde and sing and cry
Valhalla, I am coming.

On we sweep with the threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore.

Ahhh-ah-ah! Ahhh-ah-ah!

We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow
How soft your fields so green can whisper tales of gore
Of how we calmed the tides of war
We are your overlords.

On we sweep with the threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore.

So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing.

Was always disappointed they didn't sing this in Icelandic.  Eyjaaaaaaaaaaafjallajökull....
People who forget what a badass JPJ was, need to listen this bassline ... not just the main-line, but that insane climbing run in the pre-chorus.
Surprised to hear this on RP. But very, very happy. Much more rock please?!
It's kind of ground-breaking to think that this recording is 50 years  old. That's a strong tell that it's a classic recording. Very few people in the 70's listened to popular music from the 1920's -- that would have been .. eccentric.
I used to work in a two-person office; I started at 8:30am and my best friend arrived at 10am, often barely-caffeinated. I used to turn my speakers way up, turn them to face his desk, and have this song prepped. As soon as his butt touched the seat, I'd let the "Immigrant Song" rip, jolting him every time. We still laugh about it--that song has a lot of meaning!

What ruins?  The ones i see in the US weren't caused by the Prez.  You may want to take a closer look.  And please stop with the political posts, this is a music station.
Simply awesome 🎸
Plant continues to write great music!

What is he losing?
If he isn't elected for another term, which seems unlikely given his competition.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm betting DJT is POTUS another term.
So THOSE are the words!

The Jack Black / Tenaciious D spoof of this song ruined it for me.

I know I'm in the minority when it comes to my dislike of Led Zeppelin, but I always though that if I were to be murdered in a horrific Manson-like attack, this song or Kashmir would be playing on the stereo as I was being killed. :)

When I first heard them I thought  "A Led song I've never heard before?"

Yeah, they rock.  And I also thought it was long lost LZ track when I heard their first few songs.  Apparently, the lead singer spent an entire year researching Robert Plant in order to emulate his voice.

Great use of the song in the movie. Both thumbs up.

As a Scandinavian comming from "the land of ice and snow" I resent that comment.

That asshat Drumphphp is apparently of german descent. That being what it is, his themesong should either be Leary's Asshole-song or when he hopefully looses the election, Napoleon XIV's "they're comming to take me away, hahaaa!"

Ha!  I just saw this song performed LIVE yesterday by Led Zepp!!  Seriously!!
{#Drummer}

...of course it was Led Zepp"again" (the cover band), not the original Led "Zeppelin".
However, I must say that I learned a very important lesson...I learned how incredibly bad ass Led Zeppelin was.  If some halfway decent cover band can get the biggest crowd response of any band in our free summer concert series here in in San Jose, CA—40 years after the music was made, then how good must have Led Zeppelin really been!?  I cannot phathom what it would have been like to see Zepp perform live in their prime!

Was fortunate enough to see LZ twice:  1969 Pittsburgh Civic Arena:  had binoculars on Bonzo during Moby Dick:  his hands were bleeding:  fast forward to 3 Rivers Stadium 1973:  concert was periodically interrupted by M-80"s going off in the stands:  now THAT's rock and roll!!!!

Memories of my school days. As would be expected from a band of accomplished session musicians, they were never tied to a genre.
{#Beat}
Excellent song to play full blast, 10 times, at 6 AM, with both speakers jacked up right to the ceiling, when the neighbours have been noisy the night before.
Fav LP, Fav Song.

One for the many Viking listeners to RP to appreciate, perhaps. In the light of the lyrics, should LZ not have entitled this "Invader song"?

Reminds me of an apocryphal tale. In a Dublin bar a waiter gets into conversation with a bunch of young men and women and asks where they're from. "Denmark", they reply, to which yer man says, "I see you've brought your own women with you this time, then" :o)

I'll get me horned helmet...
A-ah-ahh-ah, ah-ah-ahh-ah
We come from the land of the ice and snow
from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow

The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands
To fight the horde and sing and cry, Valhalla, I am coming

On we sweep with, with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore

Ah-ah-ahh-ah, ah-ah-ahh-ah
We come from the land of the ice and snow
from the midnight sun where the hot springs FLOW
How soft your fields, so green
can whisper tales of gore, of how we calmed the tides of war

Great tune - for some reason it always reminded me of "Bali Hai" from South Pacific - just in that main part of the melody

melody starts around the 0:41 mark

No songs scream out Led like Immigrant Song. When you look up the definition of Rock n' Roll in the dictionary. There is a pic of Zeppelin from 1973.
