Everyday, it's a-gettin' closer
Goin' faster than a roller coaster
Love like yours will surely come my way
A-hey, a-hey hey

Everyday, it's a-gettin' faster
Everyone said, "Go up and ask her"
Love like yours will surely come my way
A-hey, a-hey hey

Everyday seems a little longer
Every way, love's a little stronger
Come what may, do you ever long for
True love from me?

Everyday, it's a-gettin' closer
Goin' faster than a roller coaster
Love like yours will surely come my way
A-hey, a-hey hey

Always loved the song - now it makes me sad. Damn Neil Gaiman!!

If you're a movie producer in the 1980s/1990s, and your movie is set in the 1950s, and the protagonist is walking around town planning for a dream date, this is required to be played.

well spotted my friend, and hilarious with it !!

The chimes made me think of holiday music. Had to look at the tracking site to see it's Buddy Holly. I don't think I've heard this before .
The clapping sounds like someone is fapping in the background and once that thought comes to mind, you can't not hear it.
His birthday today! B. 1939. Thank you RP.

That was great
I know this from Don Mclean. Didn't realize Mr. Holly did it first. Nice!

This song goes very well with the "Rocketeer"
I'm with you... this is such a gem. It's right up there with the songs of Patsy Cline which also never get old. He's one of the ones who died way too young. What wonders he could have made.

Not True. They idolized Buddy...but a tribute band? No.

that was said with tongue firmly in cheek.  the beatles did, indeed, idolize him (see: lennon's glasses) and even covered "words of love". they took what he was doing and RAN with it.  songs from "do you want to know a secret" up to "it's only love" have holly stamped all over them.  and when you listen to songs like this and "well alright" they could have easily been lennon/mcartney tunes.  after all holly was the original beatle!     {#Mrgreen}

reminds me of "Stand By Me".. great movie.

My first time listening to this one. Sounds better than on television.

It makes you wonder what popular music would have been like if there had never been Buddy Holly. A fantastic song.
Milner

In the words of John Milner: "Rock and roll's been going downhill since Buddy Holly died."
has anyone seen my poodle skirt?
love this.
One of my all time favorites. 1 / 1 / 4 / 5 nearly always gets me going (and BH uses it quite often), but the really, really cool thing (chord structure wise) are those quart steps in the middle eight with the last Bb resolving in an A resolving the circle as well as all questions, anxiousness and uncertainties. 10.

tis a glockenspiel they used.

Hell yeah! Major memories of the Stand By Me soundtrack. Bill, idea: soundtrack interludes in the playlist, or soundtrack day or something. Play complete soundtracks (or just the good tracks {#Cheesygrin}), either as just a set in a regular playlist, or for an entire day. The latter would probably be too much for some people, but there are some really excellent soundtracks that could easily do the airplay here (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, O Brother Where Art Thou, etc.). I imagine there would be rioting in the Radio Paradise streets were that level of continuinty introduced, but I for one would love it.

I would love it too!  {#Mrgreen}

I loved this whole LP, though, being all of seven years old and playing with my Dinky Toys while my brother had this on in the next room.
sounds like somebody's chopping lines

very nice song :)
During the 60s I liked Holly but really didn't appreciate his artistry as much as I do now.  He really was ahead of his time with his melodies, instrumentation and lyrics.  And at such a young age.  No telling what he would have done had he lived to a ripe old age.  Yet another tragic loss of a musical genius.
I am a slavish fan of Buddy Holly, but this is one of my least favorite tracks of his. How about some of his really fab stuff?
Sounds like a Christmas tune and I mean that in a good way.

My R&R education started when my older brother used to play stuff like this.
When I first heard this, I gave it a 7. I must have really been out of it on that one. 9. At LEAST.
Sounds like someone is making tortillas in the background.
All I can think of is that hilarious sex scene in the movie "Mischief," set to this song. Great tune.

Yeah, can't help but wonder where music would be today if Buddy hadn't died...
My cousins and I did an entire dance show to the "Stand by Me" soundtrack when we were young and silly
The slapping sound seems a little too "fleshy" somehow.
I can't help but think how cool this musta been when it came out.
I'm waiting for "Heartbeat" because BH deserves at least one 10 from me (like he cares). This one is pretty good.

My wife and I had our first dance (at our wedding) to this song. That was almost 22 years ago, thanks, Bill!
Thank you thank you thank you!!
The music still sounds so fresh! Not so sure about the over stylised image of Buddy on the CD cover - the graphic artist responsible, clearly got just a little carried away with his use of "Photoshop"!!
Great pop song stripped down to the barest essentials. Every star who hides behind a church choir should have to listen to this for 100 days as penance.

Unfortunately, we were cheated out of the huge catalog of music he undoubtedly would have produced over those decades.
Buddy and Texas Tech: Lubbock's (only) two claims to fame. Well, those and DUST. Lots of dust. What a great, great tune.
Excellent song....brings back memories of seeing Stand By Me (excellent movie) when it first came out
Think I shall swoon into a faint......kaplop! What a fabulous flashback...

Sorry. Wrong post for wrong forum. Please return to hole you crawled out of. Buddy is genius level. RP is the only station where we can hear a good eclectic range of genius level music. More Buddy please, Bill
Sinister!!! ...that got your attention ehy? Just kidding of course. Ain't it sad when talent like Buddy meets an early end, what a legacy though.
Those bells sound like a mobile hanging above a crib; and this song puts me to sleep faster than a lullaby ever could. Snoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooze
Wow. It's 1966. I'm lying in the dark, trying to go to sleep and the AM radio is tuned into WRHI....thanks for the flashback.
This is who Elvis Costello wishes he were, wishes he were as creative as, wishes he could sing as well as, methinks. I wish it were so, too. Great song, great voice.
Ole Buddy just doesn't do it here. Wrong song for the write station...By by Buddy
What if he'd lost the coin toss and ended up on the bus instead of the plane? Buddy redeems the existence of Lubbock, Texas. Heck, Buddy redeems period.
I'm always amazed by the utter simplicity of the arrangement: a soft acoustic guitar, stand up bass, and what is it? A toy piano, glockenspiel, xylophone? Very cool.
fallon community health plan almost ruined this song for me.
I love Buddy & all that, but this one's too sappy for my tastes...
Brilliant in its simplicity.
