My life is a house
You crawl through the window
Slip across the floor and into the reception room
You enter the place of endless persuasion
Like a knock on the door when there's ten or more things to do

Who is that calling?
You my companion
Run to the water on a burning beach
And it brings me relief

Pass through the walls
To find my intentions
Circle round in a strange hypnotic state
I look into space
there is no connection
A million points of life
And a conversation I can't face

Cast me off one day
To lose my inhibitions
Sit like a lapdog on a matron's knee
With the nails on your feet

I woke up the house
Stumbled in sideways
The lights went on and everybody screamed suprise
The savage review it left me gasping
But it warms my heart to see that you can do it too

Total surrender
Your touch is so tender
Your skin is like water
On a burning beach
And it brings me relief
And it brings me relief
And it brings me relief

You don't actually. That is a delusion. You know of a person who may have been real (lets say he actually existed since historical record suggests that someone like him did) in a mostly fictional book who died nearly 2000 years ago. He is not your friend any more than Harry Potter is.

Jesus sends his regards, and he still loves you.

Harry sends his regards, but he's not your friend anymore.

The House.....Outstanding sounds....this track not quite smooth enough for my taste this evening.....but what a band!  Loved their live show

In their trio formation, they were as much fun as the early Beatles. I saw them thrice and loved every minute.
Then, Yoko/Tim joined and things went off the rails.

I was living in Oregon about a million years ago, and Neil Finn did a radio interview at KINK.FM in Portland. He was jet-lagged, had just finished a long tour, and was about half-nuts, but the interview he gave was wonderful. He divulged things I'm sure he wishes he could take back, but listening to him doing an acoustic version of a song he'd written long before Crowded House, I was an instant fan. Neil Finn is just amazing, in any incarnation. And the Finn Brothers are a double-whammy.  If I can find some of their music, singularly or collectively, I'll try to upload them. After that, it'll be up to TPTB...

miss you so much, Cynaera...  love this song...
Neil Finn / Crowded House... How can you go wrong??

{#Bananapiano} "Most Excellant"
Viva la Crowdies
Crowded House is timeless in everything they do. I always felt if the Beatles had stayed together as long as these chaps had, they probably would have sounded similar. Not knocking the Beatles, one of the best all time bands ever, its just that Crowded House deserves more credit than I think they have gotten.
Love the line..."your skin is like water on a burning beach." Brilliant.
I like these guys---occurs to me they big influence on the Shins. i need to find some of their stuff, feel like an idiot for not listening to them before they've been around for decades.
Mr. Genius. Guaranteed bliss. Chills. Stopped in my tracks.

yep. that is a goody.

This song is painfully good...

the lights went on and everybody screamed "Surprise!"
the savage review
it left me gasping
but it warms my heart to see that you can do it too

Total surrender
your touch is so tender
your skin is like water on a burning beach
and it brings me relief

Like a night in your mind
it brings me relief
in the back door
under the stars
and the scenery is my floor
in the back room
under the stars
and the scenery is my floor
This whole cd is a masterpiece.

Neil has an amazing talent that is sadly overlooked in America. He and Paul Weller rank highly on my list of song writers and singers.

Wonderful segue/relief from the previous number.

Though it won't be the same without Paul Hester, Crowded House will be releasing a new album and touring soon. Go to their website for more info.

Heh. It suddenly occurs to me that the TOGETHER ALONE album cover wisely avoids attracting the sort of trouble those Mohammed cartoons have been generating!
