I always leave her waiting
I always leave her down
If she should come my way
I always turn around
Please don't tell her I love her
Please don't tell her I love her
I always keep her out
I never let her in
If she should come my way weeping
I greet her with a grin
Please don't tell her I love her
Please don't tell her I love her
If she should discover the colors of my love,
She will fly, fly away
Now you can try tenderness
You can try to hang around
Oh, but I'm sure she'll love you less,
I'm sure she'll bring you down
Please don't tell her I love her
Please don't tell her I love her

Ugh… I became weary of this composition way too soon, especially since I have been hearing it daily, it seems, on RP. Mellow Mix seems a bit like a Pandora station, initially tweaked to suit, then left to repeat itself for days. Just saying. I’m still listening to RP after many years.
Loving it!  BHTM!

Thanks for this one

I've never forgiven these guys for stealing my band name.

Actually...this sounds a lot like HatB. Dude, I'm gonna hurl...

“Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves!”
If this is what we get instead of Jack Johnson I am okay with that, but this kind of music is really wishy-washy.

Why does it matter if he can sing? Can Mr. Zimmermann sing? Or Neil?

Sweet mellow groove to my Thursday morning ears.  Thanks RP.
Their 3-hour show last Saturday night at the Boulder Theater did the home town crowd the biggest! Todd was in a bluesjammin' mood! On this album, Todd jams with John Lee H! Check out the song 'Caroline' for Todd's rippin' Fender-work. Mind-blowing, especially live!

That is now the only way I can hear it.

A great band, I think kept alive these days only by a handful of outlets, among them RP.

Certainly, Ice!
What's not to like?

Sweet fluid little guitar lead I love.

His voice isn't classic but it's way expressive.

Give it to them. Good tune.

that's so strange a comment to me. i'm a big lloyd cole (and lloyd cole & the commotions) fan, and i see absolutely no similarity at all between these two bands.
funny how something can resonate with one person and completely not resonate at all with another. makes life interesting.

Nice mix and lush guitar tone, like it a lot.

I thought the same thing until Bill G just mentioned this.
Thought maybe he was singing about a slave girl or some such...

Resignation Superman makes me go out of my mind with joy.
A good tune; not BHTM's best, but a good song. I've always been impressed by the sound of this three man band.

Thanks for playing this song again on RP.  I prefer there other stuff, but anything by BHTM gets me smiling.

Agreed. Not close to my fav BHT record but gets an 8 on principle.
I thought he was singing "don't sell her, I love her" until I looked at the track title. Todd himself is boring and monotonous (almost literally - maybe 4 notes all song?), so bring on the Monsters as they might be interesting. 3 from the Nottingham jury.
Bill's on a roll again today {#Music}.... and now so am I!

It's Big Head Todd... it's automatically both.
This whole record kicks.
Cool, mellow, minimalistic track. Mixed down very well.
You know, whenever a BHT song plays, I KNOW what it must be BHT, but I look all-the-same, as I wonder if anyone else has mastered that strum on the guitar. Wonderful, thanks.
margaritas, laughter, and good music....thanks rp~
This song must be about a pet; perhaps a cat in the neighborhood.

I honestly thought that the lyrics were these: "Please don't sell her; I love her."
Not my favorite BHT track, but I have always been a big fan of this particular album.

Very interesting. The first Big Head Todd song I've seen on RP that just gets ripped in the comments section. Probably too poppy and not enough blues like the rest of their stuff. Myself, I'll take a change up once and a while.

It sure does sound like "sell"... I agree that this is quite bad, but Jack Johnson is quite good. It's apples to oranges.

Hahaha... Big Head Todd reminds me of my ex-girlfriend. She loved them and Toad the Wet Sprocket. So I kinda detest them already! I'm not sure i'd waste $50 on the memory. ;-) Also my 2 cents on the lyrics: I will swear up and down that he's saying "please don't SELL her" I have a very nice pair of headphones and I cranked up the volume... no matter how closely I listen, each time he is definitely saying SELL, despite the title and the not-making-sense part. :) If he is indeed singing 'sell', that definitely pops the song back into the eclectic category, rather than the pop category where it belongs!
I will donate $50 to never again heard Big Head Todd on RP.

Thank you thank you thank you for playing Big Head Todd!! I saw them this past Friday night -- what an amazing show! I've seen them many many times, but they had Hazel Miller with them as a nice treat. If you ever get the chance to see them live, please do yourself the favor of going. You will not regret it!

I SWEAR he is singing "don't SELL her"! I was working hard away, totally engrossed, or so I thought, when those words suddenly sank through. I'm thinking about why someone has to plead for someone not to be sold... Bizarre... . Ortenza - May I have Bittersweet?
I always thought it was "please don't TELL her"?
best song on the album. On Radio Alice or KFOG, I heard a live version that's even better, though. Such a warm voice, with a sweet raspiness, and the reggae rhythm, slowed and mellowed.

I bought "live monsters" on a whim. This and "Bittersweet" turned out to be the only 2 tracks that I listened to more than once. Everything else turned into a large mush of generic, In-a-Pier-1-Store rock that slowly became more and more irritating. Don't want to insult the Big Head Todd fans out there but wow, one of the lesser purchases I've made. Anyone want the album? ; )

I saw them under the St. Louis arch this last summer. Great show. They have a bumper sticker: I (heart) BIG HEAD Todd & the Monsters I might have gotten it if I wasn't a teacher. And if my sons wouldn't have been mortified.......

Aw, you're just jealous you didn't score an 800 in math on the SAT and go to Cornell for engineering. ;-) Hey, for the time they were alright. I don't mind BHT, but I don't find their songs distinctive, either. This one's pretty good.
Crankin' it. Love the keys, the groove...

It is a must to hear BHTM live... Check out ICU (in everything) from their new album Crimes of Passion, the CD is awesome.... smiles from Chicago, ~Robin:)
For a big headed guy this sounds pretty good. Met them in a record store in Memphis about 10 years ago. Nice guys.
