I was fortunate to have been invited to see Roy perform at about the smallest "venue" possible....it was a benefit dinner / auction for Breast Cancer awareness in a small room in Everett, WA, with 50-100 people crammed in to hear him play and BOY did ROY blow the ceiling off that place!  He did about 90 minutes or more, using at least 3 guitars, and his stories about John Lee Hooker were worth the price of admission alone.  Anyone on the west coast who likes blues guitar I strongly suggest seeing this lesser known legend when you can.  Long Live RP!!!

u r correct sir, but.....to your point...... i think it's a blues vs rockabilly thing..strictly visceral.    there's no doubt bout gattons excellence..he was an innovator and an inspiration to so many. i mean, i can see brian setzer just sittin there thinkin  "hmmmmm....i could make a nice livin doin that!".   with rogers i just hear other peoples stuff...like johnny winter to b sure..that metallic slidey thing he had goin on was straight off of the 3 sided album j.w. did with his brother  "second winter"...just listen to 'hustled down in texas'.."i'm not sure'  or 'I love everybody".....matter of fact if folks go u tubin' this stuff they'll never listen to rogers again.....(specially  I'm not sure..thats a killer)
          oh hell  what about his version of percy mayfields  'memory pain'...thats just flat reeeediculusss.......nahhhhhh...forget it.... just listen tto the whole damn thing!!{#Biggrin}
