Thought you had
all the answers
to rest your heart upon.
But something happens,
don't see it coming, now
you can't stop yourself.
Now you're out there swimming...
In the deep.
In the deep.

Life keeps tumbling your heart in circles
till you... Let go.
Till you shed your pride, and you climb to heaven,
and you throw yourself off.
Now you're out there spinning...
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.

And now you're out there spinning...
And now you're out there spinning...
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.

in the silence
all your secrets
raise their weary heads
and you can't pin yourself
back together
with who you thought you were.
Now you're out there livin'...
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.

In the deep...

Now you're out there spinning...
Now you're out there swimming...
Now you're out there spinning...
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep...

all i can think of when i see her or hear her is that she was on the West Wing.
Instantly became my Muse. Thanks RP for diggin' these ones out. A firm 9 here
Very pretty song.  First time to hear it.  Thanks, RP.

OK, while your point is a good one, I think Bird deserves better.  This is first rate.  Actually, I think her voice is just OK; this is simply a great arrangement, a great song.  She's got a lot of edge to her music.  For someone with a small output, she is batting like 750 and is a truly remarkable artist in my opinion.

Well said, Sir.

Okay - Beautiful voice - for all those RP posters constantly complaining about the rock and roll voices of some of the world's greatest songwriters from Springsteen to Costello to Vedder to of course Young, Dylan and Waits.

So what we get is a pretty voice, pretty song, nice lyrics but all in all - pretty pedestrian music - that will fade away eventually while the great work of those listed above and who supposedly can't sing -  lives on forever.

To hear YOU tell it.  Sadly mistaken. There are equal and lesser artists RP plays, that are still kicking it strong. Not to deny the former portion of your post but, the latter portion, I'm sure, you shall find mistaken.

Long time fave.  From the Crash soundtrack.  Brings perspective every time.
Wow. That's a keeper. Nice.
Beautiful.  Thanks RP.
This song started it all for me and RP. Love it. Haunting.
Song-  for driving  woman, dreaming, about herself)Give everything..Ohh!,-Watch the road)))
Lovely song.
Annie Lenox's little sister... Or protege. Or both.
You know, she could have had it all by rolling in it.
Dreamily nice{#Daisy}needed that after spending an afternoon hunched over my sewing machine{#Daisy}

She has a beautiful voice, and is an actor on a TV show now.
Really really nice; first time I heard it was in the Crash soundtrack (not actually the same exact track as this, but just as good); keep up the good work Bill and Rebecca!!!
Nice evening... Mostly -8-s and a couple of clunkers...Also another  $100 spent at Amazon...
All I can add is "Thanks for the ride-!"... RP is a lovely, albeit expensive, pleasure...
It could be worse... I could be collecting single malts, single casks, vintage wines, beautiful women...
Instead, I have chosen song... This has the advantage of a pleasure enjoyed now and again and again...
always think of  thewest wing when i see/hear her.

I know what you mean, and I don't put her in the same category as those other artists, but she arrived in a different era than those artists did - an era of music/media saturation, where everything is portable, fleeting, and ultimately disposable.  Also, I'd be surprised if any great numbers of people remember anything by those other artists fifty years hence: forever is a pretty long time.
Fragile yet soothing voice.  Good late nite song.
RP! Hey!  Can I have a second helping please?
I like her other tracks that Bill's been playing the past several years, but not this one.

Could be true, but she's been around a very long time.
Something very sultry and seductive about this woman's use of her voice. I think I just could be mad about Bird!

So odious to compare. One man's shite is another man's truffle, I say.
As for me, I had to get out of the tub to find out who she is and what that song was.
I just wanna hear it again!

This was a brilliant pick for the sound track to that movie, too.

I love most of it, though there are a couple of songs I didn't care for. Worth the purchase, though, absolutely.

Always nice to hear this one. This woman intrigues me.
Beautiful song!

gets in deep,
When I heard this song on radio paradise, I remebered that I heard it on House MD, but I didn' remember which episode, it used in season autopsy. This song is awesome, and very soft and calm, the lyrics and the song go hand in hand.

I can help out with an upload since i have it in CD qual. However, considering Kanno's track reckord of rejections here it could be that Bill might not be much of a fan. Both songs are excellent end credit tracks though. =)

Okay, yes, this song is very moving... But please, people, it's so derivative of Yoko Kanno's "Blue" (from the Cowboy Bebop Soundtrack, 1999) that it's pathetic. "Blue", the emotional and ambient ending to the Cowboy Bebop series, begins with absolutely stirring vocal harmonies, then moves into a soul-wrenching vocal roller-coaster ride (by Mai Yamane) that, let's face it, makes the admittedly wonderful Bird York sound like an amateur lounge act. Perhaps what's disappointing about hearing "In the Deep" is not hearing "Blue"....or hearing just enough of it in Bird York to be frustrated. I'll check to see if Bill has "Blue". If not, I'll upload it. And I'll stop rambling.
For some reason, it makes my heart ache. "If you want to be given everything, give everything up" I just love that line.
Great song for a great movie. I show the film in class and it works so well.

I repeated this sequence about 1/2 dozen times when I rented this movie! Powerful ending.
Wow, Bill's playing the House MD songs this morning. First Baba O'Riley, now this. Do we get to hear Elvis Costello's cover of Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" next? Not complaining - I'm enjoying it!
Gotta love Bird!
Gets me inside. In the deep. Man i can feel the base through my floor
In the Deep can't help but touch one...in the deep.

Hello, 07734.
Meh
This song works perfectly over the ending sequence in Crash. When I saw Bird's name in the credits, I said, "hey, I know her from Radio Paradise!" For fans of analogies: Bird York: Crash :: Aimee Mann: Magnolia know what I mean?

Should've won the Oscar, IMO. Although the weird slow-motion burning car scene going on behind her when she was singing at the Oscar ceremony was just weird.

Verrrry nice. Thanks Bill, for introducing me to yet ANOTHER great artist.
Isn't this on the "Aladdin" soundtrack?
I spent the last week or so humming this song.... incredible song.... incredible movie.... Incredible world. Every human being needs to watch this movie.

Damn great film! :) As soon as I heard the first note my mind was racing trying to figure out where I had heard it. Only saw crash for the first time about a week ago, loved it. Extremely sad and deep due to the strong honesty that is in place. Nevertheless, indie film of the year in my book.

I LOVE Bird... get her CD, it's an excellent buy!
Yeah, I was wondering who it was too. At first I thought it was Aimee Mann. Crash is such a great movie with awesome music!
This song was used quite effectively in the movie Crash and I found myself wondering who it was....and now I know. Thanks RP!
Quite pretty. Good find, Bill.
