Sometimes you have to experience it. I have been to Spain and when you are having a nice diner on the street (street is closed for cars so the restaurants can use it after 19:30) and there is a band playing this kind of music when you are drinking really good red wine with your lovely wife during your honeymoon... I like the music now.

Cool to see the old spanish people dancing tango b.t.w. It was not good and slightly alcohol induced, but it was nice to watch.

I feel like I'm very far away from home right now, and I LIKE IT!!!!  I close my eyes and I narrow see cobblestone streets, doves fluttering upward, through a shaft of sunlight.  A cafe, where I stop for a tiny cup of coffee.  A street vendor sells me some flowers...
Gracias che.

French? You must be joking... right?
Piazzolla = Dios
I like it; reminds me of the music the group is playing live in the trippy Van Gogh-like scene (one of many, I know, but...) in Waking Life

Wait!

What?

Piazolla?

Woo!
I adore Piazolla.  Mas por favor.

Then there is some very cool Tango-Jazz-Rock fusion that radioparadise has yet to present listeners.

Yet no one has ever survived, according to the stories. Alas.
Perfect creator.

What's the hell is that?
A wonderful Tango Argentino after this stupid Lautlos?

This song make me stop what I was doing and break the silence momentarily with a simple "...Jesus Christ..." --haunting & gorgeous, like a slowly-wandering soul through time.

I own it, and I agree.
Nice and haunting there in the middle.
I don't particularly like tango, but credit where credit's due - this guy's The Man! {#Clap}
Tango lessons are on my bucket list! Once I move to my new city....I'm SO signing up!

Soul of the Tango: The Music of Astor Piazzolla

This sounds like something one might hear while relaxing at a Parisian sidewalk cafe sipping cafe au lait.

This man was a god of the Tango - BIG 10 from me.

Try dancing Tango to this... a different level of existence.

Perfect timing. Just stopping work for lunch. {#Cheers}

Horrid, please don't give me a repeat performance!
Can't get enough Astor Piazzolla.
Fantastic.  Made me think of the movie "12 Monkeys" (which I also think is fantastic).
Bravo what RP is all about
Oh WOW, Bill.  I haven't heard this in a long time.  I was supposed to leave work just now.  I think I'll stick around a few extra minutes.  Thank you so much.
Oh my, Bill is on a roll!{#Music}

are you kidding?! Although Tango may not be as familiar as pop is in North America, it's no less important, musically...and this composer is considered one of THE most important Tango influences in the 20th century - wonderful stuff, although perhaps it is an acquired taste.

Yes, simply beautiful. How about some Richard Galliano who interprets Piazzolla's material perfectly? Piazzolla Forever album. He was a close friend of Piazzolla. Other interpreters are Al Di Meola, Gidor Kremer and even Grace Jones whose song I've Seen That Face Before is Piazzolla's Libertango with lyrics.
The last track was Cambodian flavor, then this one is Argentine tango. Thanks for the world trip sans Airfare and TSA BS. Me gusta mucho!
It is much too long, the last time I've been to a Milonga. Must go again. This music is just wonderful. Imagine to dance to this music.
Gracias por acompañarme en tantos momentos. Gracias Astor !!!
Reminiscent of Penguin Cafe Orchestra but with a bit more Latin
Sorry...but...I don't think so....2
Astor was a truly master.
wonderful. Thanks Bill.
It's dusk hour now, here in Buenos Aires. Today's been the coldest day in months, zero celsius. Today the paper has brought cold news again from Lebanon and Israel. And here Astor comes to bring us some warmth to our souls. Today Ausencias are the absent peace, the absent kids, the absent compassion, the absent reason, the absent humanity. Thanks Bill for this, nampelkafe, at BA.
Must... learn... tango...
Oh to be in BA
Inspired choice. RP at its best. I highly recommend AP's "Zero Hour" LP, by the way.
Excelente, che. . . excelente.
reminiscent of "the tango lesson". excellent film.
I'm seeing a crying mime....

... Luscious! ... ... Ausencias ...
May I have this dance?
Where else would you hear this? Bravo!
Exquisite. A beautiful interlude on a Thursday morning in the office. Makes me want to sashay across the open plan...
¡Que agradable comenzar así este día!
beautiful!
belleza elegante
anyone heard bart schneemann (oboe) play this with the bandoneon on his album "It takes two?" I really like that version. It's actually not the same song title, but part of the melody is identical, and the composer is Astor Piazzolla.
Can't really imagine this being "too eclectic" for anyone; very straightforward, and nice balance of tonalities. y'all should get out more. Try some out jazz for eclectic.

¡Grande Astor! ¿por qué te moriste che?
I think Piazzola must be one the best eclectic composers, for he blends tango, milonga, jazz and classic music in a very beautiful way. For eclectic music like this I listen to RP, it's really something different on the net. Thanks! -a hug to paiasoloco from another argentino
Though I don't know much about this music, it makes me want to have a cig and talk with a french accent; I not very comfortable with either, but the music is interesting. Solid 6
Hauntingly beautiful... I certainly want to hear more. Thanks Bill.
not matching my current headspace
nice transition from Pat Metheny!
Maybe not.
I have never heard Astor Piazzolla before... and after hearing this I definately want to hear more. This is absolutely beautiful, gave me chills! I'd love to hear more of this.
Ah finally something doesn't make me want hurt self, thank Bill that atrocious block of music has come to an end.

Well put. It's great to hear Astor Piazolla here, and to expose his music to new ears worldwide. Thanks, RP!
Aaaaaaaah... thank you.
This is what I like so much about RP. I would never dared to upload real Tango Argentino, because I thought that would be too special, but RP just rocks with diverstiy. Thank you for playing Piazzolla. I realy must go dancing tango again (has been difficult with our baby lately).
Nice seque from PM. Didn't Pat cover this?
indeed an eclectic set... Azure Ray, Pat Metheny and this. Not my cup of tea, but interesting none the less.

I can appreciate different music styles, and people who like them. However, would it be possible to clump this kind of music in to a scheduled "Italian hour", or "Instrumental Hour"? I perceive RP as an alternative rockish kind of venue, and songs like this put me to sleep in the middle of that.
Italian Hour? :-k

Well yes, that movie was scored with tango almost exclusively. One of my favorite movies by the way. If you liked the music you MUST check Piazzolla out. And Anibal Troilo which was another bandoneonist; many would say that even greater than Piazzolla. Astor played in the Troilo's orchestra back in the early 40s. Piazzolla became more famous because he toured extensively all over the world and recorded with many very important musicians broadening tango's audience. He also tried to reinvent the tango with what he called the "New Tango". It was kind of a fusion between jazz and traditional tango. He got many enemies in Argentina in doing so but he never cared, he was a true musical genius so he could do whatever he pleased. I thank Bill very much for playing tango. I especially would recommend 'Adios Nonino' by Piazzolla, it's a gem.

From an Argentinean leaving in Miami. THANKS!!! Astor was the greatest!
Sounds very much like Café Noir - melancholy gypsy/folk dance music.
