Cornershop are authentic as products of the cross-fertilization between migrants and their new communities. They don't pretend to be 'authentic' Indian. This is post-colonial Anglo-Asian pop.

Yeah, me too. (as in, working /hanging out with Indians, aka South Asians) I like the people and the music. Don't know and don't care why - just do. I adore Indian ragas, world music, and sitar, but this just lacked a spark...and ended up seeming kinda long and repetitious. Not bad, not great, either.

Well, I happen to adore Brimful of Asha. But yeah, there's lots more to this band than a single pop song. This album is very strong. I strongly recommend anyone and everyone to give it a listen.

Based on the strength of just this song, I would never ever think of buying this album. I love music from all over the world and I realize this comes from America, but in such a bastardized form, it has no appeal. Kinda like a southern Florida "Spanish Style villa". It has all the stylings, but none of the spirit.
