Growing old, watching silver turn to gold
Snowing cold, why aren't you here for me to hold?
In a dream somewhere finding my way home
Then a change of scene
The rest took place in Ancient Rome

Was I a king?
Pretty ladies all around
I gave one a ring
So satisfied in who we found

Didn't make much sense
But we loved to do our thing
Behind her fence
And behind her little silver ring

That turned to gold That turned to gold

Growing old, watching silver turn to gold
Snowing cold, why aren't you here for me to hold

Didn't make much sense
But we loved to do our thing
Behind her fence
And behind her little silver ring

That turned to gold
That turned to gold

Very nice!
Good to here this again. I love their pre-reggae stuff.

"...we just disagree." ;)  I was thinking the same thing.  That is the tune...knew someone here would hear it too.{#Mrgreen}
Brilliant... !

The segue of Jem 'They' followed by the cockerel crowing.. Made I laugh!

Don't you just love a big cock to wake you up? (cough!)
Ahh it's great to hear Chicago again
My wife loves these guys and turned me on to them. They are great.
peter gabriel meets...ween? so yeah i like it.
These guys flew completely under my radar until hearing them here.

Nailed it.
Keeping this in the play list only once or twice a year would be the best thing for everyone. Well, at least me...
Glad to hear the Samples on RP. Even more glad to read all the fans from the 90's smiling!!! Fun times in Vail, Steamboat, Boulder, and with Big Head Todd at HORDE in KC.

And the first few licks sounded like "Last Train to Clarksville"

It's Dave Mason's hit song We Just Disagree from 1977. Mason, formerly of Traffic, also introduced Jimi to All Along the Watchtower and played acoustic guitar behind him on that cut. His 1970 LP Alone Together is fabulous. Lindsey Buckingham says it had a major influence on him.

You are so right on the money! I knew there was something that was not clicking!

Hello from Colorado... we DO have a lot of great music from here, huh?
Saw them many times in Boulder during college. Good memories.
Sounds to me like a Holly Dunn song from the late 80's called "Daddys Hands"
The Samples are easily one of my favorite bands. Was giddy to hear you play them. Confirms that RP has, in my opinion, the best mix out there.
I totally forgot about these guys. Oh, the sunny times of the early nineties. Thanks for refreshing my memory and making me smile.

Sort of an upside down Last Train to Clarksville in that opening.
wow, this brings back some memories thanks RP

Dave Mason true, but I also hear some Loggins and Messina in there.
I like all the background instrumentation/rhythms and little nuances...very nice.
Thought that was MMJ... Nice, 7.

was just about to leave work. now i'm staying a few extra minutes. go samples!
Picked this up for cheap on Amazon after hearing a couple songs here on RP. Great disc, excellent throughout, with no really weak cuts. Well worth the purchase.
Ooh, did ya hear that "D'yer Mak'er" drum ruff in there?

Lets not forget the Vermont beginning! They were Burlington before they were Boulder. Great band no matter where!

Reminds me of TLJY... The legendary.... True Love... Just You... ... your Majesty.
The Samples = good stuff

Irritating. Especially the little ding-ding that sounds like the Outlook in-box notification.

Well, somniferous is good if you are in need of a few z's. At work, it's not so good. Unless I crawl under my desk and pull a George Costanza...
Ahh the memories. When I first heard this song I had never even heard of the samples. I found this CD scratched up on the ground in a park somewhere with no one around. I brought it home, stuck it in my CD player and heard this song ... and really liked it. I have to admit, it was one of the first songs I heard that made me think about the fact there were bands out there I had not heard on the radio. It was 1993 ... I was 18, Summer after HS graduation. Ahh, the memories :)

Somniferous.
I can't evaluate objectively, too many memories. A lot of their stuff hasn't worn so well, but to me this still does the trick.
ummm ... snooze. Not much there, is there?

I'd recognize that opening anywhere. Glad to hear some older Samples stuff here.
