I like this song. I like other Interpol songs more though... even if they seem (seemed?) to take themselves a little too seriously :)

I have to say that my friends comment sort of speaks to how I feel about Interpol. After we saw them perform at the Curiosa tour I asked what she thought and her response was "I liked that song they played" and really that is how I feel, they have a good sound but every song sort of suffers from sounding the same somehow. I like them, just need to hear them one song at a time or I start to become pretty bored.

Well for commercially popular stuff, it's fairly palatable. I've got Turn on the Bright Lights and I like it okay. Someone said it correctly though -- don't listen too hard to the lyrics. What lyrics? They're just phrases.

I like Interpol a lot. Last Monday they played at 3rd floor of Mexico's WTC. They were supposed to have 2 dates but, second concert was cancelled due to security... During the first concert people were so exited and happy that they began jumping and jumping and jumping and... floor structure was damaged!

I am addicted to this song. I first saw the music video for Evil at atomfilms.com. Weird with a capital W. But the song settles right into the brain. I had to buy the album and I'm really enjoying it. For an old guy like me its hard to find new music that I like. Interpol is a pleasure.

"At best" is the operative phrase. All their songs have the same "chunky 8th note" feel; i.e. they all sound the same. Wasn't this ground already covered in the 80s? Add to that the lead singer of the B-52s--only MONOTONE--and you have one overrated band. Gish05 wrote:

Most of them really aren't on the indie scene anymore. They've all accomplished quite a bit of fame now, especially Radiohead. Now if you're talking about unique and original sounds, then yeah, all of them are pretty good at that. I think most of the people here can't really appreciate newer experimental sounds such as noise pop and stuff, over the hill must really suck.

Interpol is decent at best... Turn on the Bright Lights had some good tunes (Untitled, PDA, NYC, Hands Away), but the rest of their discography is kind of blah. We are not in a musical ice age! I hate it when people say that. Its just that the good stuff is not popular. The indie scene is great right now. Sonic Youth, Wilco, Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie, The Arcade Fire, Trail of Dead, Modest Mouse... all are great bands making great music.

pretty good, but Interpol's material is starting to all sound the same - kind of losing that fresh car smell :roll: could easily interchange lyrics from that 200 couches song into this one
