Waitin' for a sign from you
Waitin' for a signal to change
Have you forgotten what your love can do?
Is this the end?

Walkin' through the city
Your boots are high-heeled and are shinin' bright
The sunlight sparklin' on the shaft of your knife
Flower in the morning rain
Dying in my hand
Was it all in vain?

Superstar in your own private movie
I wanted just a minor part
But I'm no fool
I know you're cool
I never really wanted your heart

You're keeper of the key
Nothing seems to bring you down
It's not that cool when I'm around
Flower in the morning rain
Dying in my hand
Was it all in vain?

Superstar in your own private movie
I wanted just a minor part
But I'm no fool
I know you're cool
I never really wanted your heart

You have good taste.
They love their tambourine!
on first listen this seems not so special - but on the other side its always sticking out during the stream - this justifies always an 8
What a sound! Got all Albums except of this, don't know why... on my way to the shop... You guys made my day, AGAIN!!!
Love you
(Don't like Amazon)
Tom
Love the drum and guitar sound on this one.
{#Devil_pimp}zesty !
I thought Velvet Underground.
Ahhhh....Hope Sandoval.  What a voice. This was the first Mazzy Star album I bought.
Velvet Underground rock groove and somber female vocals, too cool for school!!{#Devil_pimp}{#Motor}{#Guitarist}
yes, a long set of 80's and early 90's GUTTSY ROCK along these lines would sound quite appropriate
Very clearly inlfuenced by The Jesus and Mary Chain. Nice sound.

It's OK.

I like the Pale Saints version better.

Almost kinda sorta sounds like Luna. Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions have a new album coming soon.
Just love her voice.

Never heard them before, so the power of reminiscing does nothing for me.  And on first listen, I have to ask what the heck there is about this song that makes it appealing?  Bad singing, heavy noise, monotonous tone...  so, what?

It's okay, Justin Bieber will happily take you back into his fold.

I'm afraid you suffer from a total lack of good taste and cultural appreciation, Coccyx. Hope Sandoval and Mazzy Star deserve godlike status for Blue Flower.

Old Grey Whistle Test (see Iggy Pop video below), according to Wikipedia "... is an influential BBC2 television music show that ran from 1971 to 1987."  Note: Don't see why Wikipedia uses the present tense "is" when the show ceased to be in 1987.  Nor do I see any connection between the video and Mazzy Star's Blue Flower, except the double consonants and number of syllables in the artist's names.

Just doing my part for global enlightenment.

They're certainly not the only group of musicians who have been influenced by The Velvet Underground.  Not a bad thing, really.

Nor would they want to I would think.

High end buzz and distortion with reverb doesn't help this much.

Makes the clarity of the Kathleen Edwards tune after this such a relief for the ears.
Some people might think this hasn't aged well. But I'm pleasantly surprised I still like it. Yay Mazzy!
Totally unexpected rocker - quite the departure from the sleepwalk-through-the-night style of "Fade Into You."  I like this song a lot! {#Dancingbanana}
A Mazzy Star song that kind of rocks??.........puzzled bewilderment {#Think}
Lou Reed, call your agent.

Yep, they even play the guitar part of "I'll Be Your Mirror" at the end to let you know.

You know I normally don't like this band, but I have to say after hearing this song my opinion of them is virtually unchanged!{#Puke}

candid, inspirer and very talent voice -   7 / 8.
I thought this was 10,000 Maniacs until I checked RP. Good song.

"I don't need you to love me. I need you to SHUT THE F**K UP!"
Wa-a-a-a-ay back when the Internet was done via Morse code, live365.com used to be recorded concerts. They had one of David Cassidy that was mostly swearing/screaming at the audience to shut up and a lot of candid comments about what a joke he considered himself because this internet thing was the only gig he could get. It was both difficult to listen to and difficult to turn off.

Just an off night I guess.
Nope. I saw her walk off the stage at the Boulder Theatre in the 90's. It's a small venue with a bar. People are going to talk. Get over it.
so Hope Sandoval (aka Mazzy Star) is playing a show at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston... and the crowd is getting restless... it is a very dimly lit show (at the artist's request) and a lot of people were there to see Hope b/c they heard she was cute... not a shadow on stage.. so a bit into the show a quiet crowd started chit-chatting, drinking at the bar and what-not. Mazzy stopped the show and started complaining about the crowd being too loud. Someone shouted out "We love you Hope!" to which she replied: "I don't need you to love me. I need you to SHUT THE F**K UP!" Amazingly bizarre moment out of all the live shows I've worked/seen. Almost the whole crowd turned on her. She was very apologetic after the show and is a TOTAL SWEETHEART in person. Just an off night I guess.

Damn cool staicase on the cover, the epitome of Jugend. Oh and the song's ok too.
She, they, can do no wrong in my book. simple, elegant, 3 chord mood maestros...

Why do I expect to hear Michael Stipe singing "what's the frequency, Kenneth?" every time I hear this song start? :ask:
Still remember the first time I ever heard this great song - on WTUL (Tulane University's radio station) way back when. Still a very moving song.

Hope is good looking... and that's where it ends. Too often this is the case.
Excellent!! love Mazzy Star
I hear te velvets pale blue eyes in this one.
I Love Mazzy Star!! I pop this in when i do house chores. Just keeps me going. :jump:
I've never heard the Pale Saints version but I'd much rather hear this (or other songs from this album) than the usual "Fade Into Me." I'd like to hear other songs from this album. Into the slipstream...
"The Star of Mazzy must push her voice inside of me."
Blegh. Pale Saints did this song soooo much better.
anyone hear cinnamon girl in the guitar?
:bounce:  :heartkiss: Hope, I love you !!! :heartkiss:  :bounce:
The Guitar riff at the end is a straight VU quotation. While the reverb and the pace are a nice VU touch, the best version of the song belongs to the "Pale Saints," who included it on their first 4AD album. This version sounds lackluster in comparison.
Don't like it.... as if they kept the handbrake on for the entire song. Has no natural flow or feeling I think.
And here I thought I was listening to Him Dancing by Throwing Muses
Halah is my favorite off of this. No obvious Lou Reed debt (not that that's a bad thing), better quality all-around. A pretty song.
John Peel (RIP) would have liked this.I mean that in a good way. https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/3955369.stm
I know all music is derivative to one extent or another ... but I have to say this .... without Lou Reed, this song never would have existed. This isn't a criticism as much as it's an observation - it's a good enough song (as John once said 'a serviceable villain') :D - Riff
the singer from mazzy star is hope sandoval - they just sound similar
Is the singer from Mazzy Star the same person as Neko Case?
The original (Slapp Happy) version was better.
