Keeping up appearances
Keeping up with the Joneses
Fooling my selfish heart
Going through the motions

But I'm fooling myself
I'm fooling myself

'Cause you say you love me
And then you do it again
You do it again
And you say your sorry's
And then you do it again
You do it again

Everybody thinks you're well
Everybody thinks I'm ill
Watching me fall apart
Falling under your spell

But you're fooling yourself
You're fooling yourself

'Cause you say you love me
And then you do it again
You do it again
You say your sorry's
And then you do it again
You do it again and again and again
And again and again

But you're fooling yourself
You're fooling yourself

'Cause you say you love me
And then you do it again
You do it again
You say your sorry's
And then you do it again
You do it again
You say you love me
And then you do it again
You do it again
You say your sorry's
And then you do it again
You do it again and again and again
And again and again

Yikes. Ouchy on the ears. Thought it might be Coldplay.
nice!
I like it.  Not enough to buy it.  But I certainly enjoy hearing this song on RP.
Seems we have a pretty even split between those who like it and those who don't. Not much ground in between.

{#Wave}... my sentiments entirely!!!
I give it a 4... out of pity.
Love it. Went to rate and saw I already did. 8. Love when that happens here. Thx for all the great music, Bill

Great album cover!!
Haters, haters, haters....sigh...they're everywhere and think they are right about everything.  You folks need to drop in a few IMHOs from time to time.

I like Travis and I like this song. A 7 for me.

exactly. . .

Ugh. Dull as ditchwater. The only thing of theirs I ever liked was the acoustic cover of "...Baby One More Time" which had some wit.
the voice is too whiny, accompanied by the very repetitive pop licks..... not my thing. very juvenile.

Have you heard the bands Nine Inch Pumpkins or Smashing Nails ?     {#Lol}
For me the one and only bearable song from this boring band.

so my instincts to run from the room were not unfounded. it's the Thom Yorke angle, i resent that man's influence on vocal standards
Not my favorite Travis song, but not bad.  They are a terrific live band, decent guys and really nice to their fans.

Did anyone prophesize these people?
Only Travis
Come in Travis
One of these days I'm gonna get myself organized.
All the animals come out at night.
Queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick venal.
Some day a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets.
Thank god for the rain to wash the trash off the sidewalk. Listen you screwheads:
Here is a man who would not take it anymore.
A man who stood up against the scum, the filth.
Now I see clearly.

Whoa.  Finally someone to give Morrissey a run for the money.
In the category of Most Annoying Voice of All Time.
an old buddy and i were in the car one day when travis' "why does it always rain on me" came on.  my friend said "maybe's it's because you sing songs like this".

the drums sounding like they're coming from a broken speaker in the beginning suck
I am Re-Offended. Again.

Everybody thinks you're well
Everybody thinks I'm ill
Watching me fall apart
Falling under your spell

speaking of fooling oneself, this band is fooling itself that it has any talent or passion. boooooooring.

Funny, I had that exact thought before I clicked the playlist to see who it was. Great minds think alike.

Cool. Funny bit. The tune's a nice feel, as well.

I don't understand the intense dislike of Travis by some RP listeners. To me, it's like hating puppies. They may piddle on the floor occasionally, but they're kinda cute.

Well, I dig this one and I never knew who it was or who it was by... Added to most of the smatterings I've heard over the last few days, I'm glad to have made the discovery of this place!
Well Bill, you just lost me for the day. Too many annoying songs in a row.

I only caught the end of the song but I can certainly understand the sentiment behind this statement.
Reminds me of that scene from ''Jaws'' where Captain Quinn runs his fingernails down a chalkboard until he has everyone's attention.

I didn't know this was sung by the Fine Young Cannibals.
The voice is a ringer for Ron Sexsmith.
Travis is what Coldplay wishes they could be.
Remember how Elaine used to say somebody was "sponge-worthy"? Well this song is definitely iPod-worthy!
Do a segue from this into any given Kent track, should be more or less impossible so notice the jump...
It's just good pop. Pop music means the tune is good, the words may or may not have meaning, you can sing along, etc. It doesn't mean it's the best song ever, it's just good.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, worst band ever....
He has to sound more like Neil Young to get away with that voice.
Kind of neat.

hmmm,,unlike you I love Neil Young, and heard his voice here in the early moments of the song...only made me enjoy it that much more. Real beauty lies in difference. This my friends, is the beauty that is RP!

I don't hate it, but that singing is really close to being a drive me crazy tone. It is really close to being hatable for me. Plus the numerous drum build ups are cheezy and anoying.

exactly, which makes it unbearable. a 1.
It somewhat ruined my relief at the previous awful song being over when this awful song followed it.
do I need Zoloft? Prozac? No, I just need to not listen to this song....

12 Memories is a decent cd, with some really good songs, but its not their best. RP seems to concentrate on this particular cd, while ignoring "The Invisible band" cd, which is almost flawless throughout. Please play some stuff off of "The Invisible band" cd, which remains their best so far.
The Man Who is also excellent. Play something from Invisible Band or Man Who, please!!! (I'm not complaining, only suggesting...because I like Fran Healy's voice)
Interesting video to the song .... tackles the subject of song - domestic violence

Good to know. This is the only one I've heard. It didn't turn me on, so i gave up on the band. After your comment and others here, I'll try again.....
The more I hear this, the more I experience a "cringe factor" the moment it comes on.
This is a good one, but "Beautiful Occupation," "Peace the F**k Out," and "Somewhere Else" are my favorite tracks from 12 Memories.

I second that... Favorite Old School Travis tracks: All I Wanna Do is Rock - Good Feeling Driftwood - The Man Who Side - Invisible Band

i think this is their weakest album. personally, i prefer the man who.

IMO, it's the weakest track on the disk. Buy away.
Good stuff. Fran Healey's voice is the prototypical Brit-pop voice. It's a shame that this kind of stuff just doesn't get much exposure in the U.S.

hmmm ... methinks it sounds bad at first because it's his real voice and then it sounds "better" because it's electronically processed from here (East of Eden) to there (There). Any takers?
Excellent!
I saw these guys play live in Philly while they were supporting "The Man Who" a few years ago. Great show, and I thought they were poised to break it big over here . . . and then nothing happened. I guess people decided to go out and buy Britney Spears and Evanescence albums instead. Ugh. I don't understand what sells over here, it's all shite. I think "12 Memories" is an excellent disc all around.

Travis went Double Platinum in europe- and got NSUBBED here. This is a decent album by an excellent band. We should support great bands like this.
Agreed- I was surprised to go to their concert in DC in a CLUB- expected more interest in them than that.
Oooooo! Another smooth transition, from PH to this. Nice! One of the MANY benefits of commercial-free... An 8.

8) A poppier RH. I bought the "The Man Who" when it came out for this song

So far, the same here, but I do not like it, but it is not so bad that it enters my mute list
Great tune...but getting played a bit too much. Can we hear one of the other tracks off this record (there are a bunch...I checked!) Still...it beats the hell out of hearing Five For Fighting and John Mayer every ten minutes like on garbage radio.
I have never been overly impressed by Travis, but everytime this song comes on, I'm like, "Who IS this?!" I really like it. Thanks for playing it!
I just realized that this song is great. Thanks!

Funny, I pulled this album out yesterday and was listening to it in the car. A big drop off in my opinion from the others. However, this song is pretty good.

This is great song from a great band :)

Dang it. I thought I was going to be the first commentor for once. It's only because I couldn't think of the name of the first album and had to look it up on Amazon.com. You've foiled me this time, ecorunner.
This song seems to live up to what good Travis can do. Personally, I was very inspired by much of their debut album The Man Who, but their second effort, The Invisible Band, fell flat and turned out kind of (and by "kind of" I mean very) sappy.
