I spend too much time raiding windmills
We go side by side, laugh until it's right
There's something that you won't show
Waiting where the light goes

Take the darkest hour, break it open
Water to repair what we have broken
There's something that you won't show
Waiting where the light goes
Maybe any way the wind blows
It's all worth waiting for

Pull on the borders to lighten the load
Tell all the passengers we're going home

I spend too much time seeking shelter
World without end couldn't hold her
There's something that you won't show
Waiting where the light goes
Maybe any way the wind blows
It's all worth waiting for
Any way the wind blows

It´s nice to hear a Quixote song...very nice Quixote song
They are from Santa Barbara California
They should visit us in Santa Barbara Andalucia
Regards
I will NEVER get tired of this song.  Ever.
First time I've heard this song; beautiful and sad.
Have heard before, but not quite in the same way as today. Anyway, this is a beautiful tune!
There aren't very many albums that I give a 10 to. This is one of them. Gorgeous and heartfelt throughout.

Got to see Toad in concert a few months ago. It was amazing!!  {#Dancingbanana_2}
Forever reminds me of how, during this period in my life, I was based in the wilds of Ishikawa, Nishi Nihon, and this and The Indigo Girls — which a lot of the guitar and rhythms also remind me of — were often played in my house and cars; that was a special time...
don't know how you always top yourself, always perfect. Thanksgiving set rolling with brilliant and unheard tunes/versions. and now THIS?!!! if not already cozy, tucked in after feast and family, would get on my knees to GIVE THANKS for RP. Sam and Dave oh lordy how do you do it?😍
Great album.
I am lined up to see them at a great venue on September 1...can't wait...
Refreshing to have had such an original and talented band such as this.
I wish, wish, wish these guys would have stayed together and continued making records!! {#Bounce}
TOADIES

Toad could hopefully teach the last couple of acoustic performers played here .
TOAD!!!

In a word; Pretty.  Especially with the headphones cranked up high..... {#Music}

That is good to know. Toad is one of an extremely short list of artists that I would be amongst the great unwashed and see live. This song is a 10 of course as most Toads songs are.

Mine too.
The new toad is out!  and it's gooood....
A bit like the best song ever from Josh Rouse or The Bible. Never heard this before but I really like it in its gentle way.
Haven't heard this in a long while. Great album and such a shame they don’t tour in Europe now they reunited again.
I like the feel of this - a bit like some Criwded House / Neil Finn songs
The perfect song at the perfect moment. I spend too much time seeking shelter, too.
Ah, Marcela, the beautiful shepherdess:

"But in the event the two are equally beautiful, it does not mean that their desires are necessarily equal, for not all beauties fall in love; some are a pleasure to the eye but do not surrender their will, because if all beauties loved and surrendered, there would be a whirl of confused and misled wills not knowing where they should stop, for since beautiful subjects are infinite, desires would have to be infinite too"

LOL, I guess you had to be there to get this.  The miracle game went so late I fell asleep and will regret it till my dying breath.  I live on the east coast, so it was extra late.
Love this album, although it is seriously depressing.

Fantastic song off a truly outstanding album...and sounds great after that Martha Scalan song (also thought Indigo Girls would be perfect but this one fills the bill as well)...thanks, RP!

agreed - and I'd add that this is the best cut.
Haven't heard this great song from this outstanding album for a year or two.  Brings back great memories.  Thanks RP.

Listened to this album during a difficult time in my life. I am now sitting at work in tears. I embraced this song as it allowed me to wallow in my misery, perhaps trying to understand the pain I had caused a loved one. I didn't believe it absolved me of anything, just a chance to open up to the sadness. This is still hard to listen to today.

Thanks for your candid post. I think we all have songs that bring back painful memories. For me it's Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car".

Changed it from an 8 to a 9. Damn it's good.

Arm in arm on a hot summer day at Taste of Lincoln, Chicago in 1995. Toad on stage with about 500 of my closest friends (at least during this song). Everyone swayed and swooned. Really cool.
yes............
Good song........... sounds like Jackson Browne more than anything else. and thats a good thing!!
Toad's released an album of new versions of some of their favorite songs (called All You Want), and it includes an excellent new version of Windmills. It's different, more electric, but just as awesome and beautiful. If you are a fan of this song I'd recommend it! You can buy the album on their website or at shows.
Also they are officially reuniting as a band and working on new songs together. This could not make a Toad fan happier.  {#Bananasplit}

You shall find no argument here, Sir!{#Cheers}
Seeing them tonight @ The Belly Up!
Love this one. Deeper cut from the album that not everyone has heard before—I should have known I'd hear it here.
Toad was a wet sprocket but he always kept his powder dry.
Wow.  This song is new to me.  I really like it!

Lucky you. I am seeing them in August at a small club on the road to Palm Springs.

You know, mainstream radio *almost* ruined this band for me. I figured they were just another washed up one-hit-wonder who made their money off of one song that radio thought was "decent", and the rest of their tunes were garbage. In my mind, RP has raised TTWS from the dead! I never thought that 10+ years after hearing their first single, that I would enjoy just about every other tune I have heard from them as well. For that, I thank you!
Toad is doing a one-off tour right now. They released a live album, but are technically no longer together. But a rare opportunity to see a great band.

My favorite song on this album for sure! I would love to know the meaning behind the lyrics, but until then, I'll make up my own!

No, but it sounds personal. The reference is probably Don Quixote...tilting at windmills. That is, fighting personal demons.

god, it's like tear jerk hour
This song really takes me places. A 10, no doubt.
Fantastic song. Fantastic band. I had the unexpected opportunity to see them live on a very short tour about 2 years ago, after seeing them several times while they were still touring regularly and recording music. What a treat! I hope they come back East now that I see they're touring again, if even only on a limited basis.
I adore this song. My favorite album by Toad is Fear. Walk on the Ocean, Something to Say, Stories to Tell... :meditate.gif: :goodvibes.gif: :notworthy:

another fine record..........good stuff playing.

OK- weird question- but am I right in thinking that the drummer for Toad is a 'little person'? I think I remember thinking that when I saw them on Letterman once.
Yes he is. His name is Randy Guss. BTW - If you liked Toad, the lead Guitarist & Drummer have a new band called Lapdog: https://www.lapdogmusic.com/news.html
Wonderful song off a truly great album.
Such a beautiful song, and I couldn't agree more about adding the MAS version as well.

One of the best Toad songs. Check out Mutual Admiration Society's version. Mutual Admiration Society is a collaboration between Glen Phillips(from Toad), Sara Watkins, Sean Watkins, and Chris Thile (Nickel Creek).
Damn, I miss this band!
definitely on my Top Prettiest Songs Ever list.
Hey! Someone finally uploaded this! Great!
