Clouds so swift
Rain won't lift
Gate won't close
Railings froze
Get your mind off wintertime
You ain't goin nowhere
Whoo-ee ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, Oh are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair

I don't care
How many letters they send
Morning came and morning went
Pack up your money
Pick up your tent
You ain't goin nowhere
Whoo-ee ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, Oh are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair

Buy me a flute
And a gun that shoots
Tailgates and substitutes
Strap yourself
To a tree with roots
You ain't goin nowhere
Whoo-ee ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, Oh are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair

Now Genghis Kahn
He could not keep
All his kings
Supplied with sleep
We'll climb that hill no matter how steep
When we get up to it
Whoo-ee ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, Oh are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair

Woo-ee. Love this tune
Bob sang one of the lines as "Pack up your money, put up your tent McGuinn.  You ain't goin' nowhere."   I think he was having a little fun at Roger's expense.
Is this one of the first ever "country rock" songs?

Noting that its a Dylan song arranged in a different way.

More Gram Parsons!

More Burrito Brothers!

As of 1/21/15, RP has only ONE Gram song, and NONE by the Burritos in the playlist...strap yourself to a chair with roots, AND START UPLOADING!
More Gram Parsons!

More Burrito Brothers!

More country rock...that's kind of trippy!

Turn Turn Turn (not really their lyrics though), Eight Miles High, Mr. Spaceman, Fifth Dimension, So You Want To Be A Rock 'n Roll Star.  We still hear the last one as done by Patti Smith.  But, granted, they did have major hits with Dylan tunes.  I'm sure Bob didn't mind!

Have You Seen Her Face, I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better (covered by Tom Petty), Chestnut Mare, and She Don't Care About Time are some other excellent Byrds songs that are their originals and/or not Dylan covers.
..can't stop the swing.
Jay Dee Maness and Clarence White.

Joan Baez did this on her "Any Day Now" album... I think all the songs were by Dylan...

She puts a different meaning to these same words...

The song "Turn! Turn! Turn!" was written by Pete Seeger, but as you hinted at, the lyrics are almost directly from Ecclesiastes.
This album, and Gram Parsons, put "Country Rock" on the map.
Everybody in my corral loves this song.

What is an easy chair?

An easy chair is a reclining, upholstered chair that is large, soft, and very comfortable. In the US they are also called "recliners".

It can be found in a sleazy lair with a cheesy air.

Kinda like Radio Paradise... if you dig deeper than the music you hear on the "hits" radio, I'm sure you would hear a lot more great music.

" .... buy me a gun that shoots ..."  Huummmm better call out the SWAT team to search this record for other lyrics fomenting revolt, maybe some tracks played backwards, eh?  How my how times have changed ... not even allowed to say G-N anymore.

The best songs from Sweet Heart of the Rodeo (for the most part) are sung by GP.

The album I was talking about in my earlier comment was Sweetheart of the Rodeo.  An excellent album.  I never have liked C&W much but, like a lot of other things in life, there are exceptions: such as this album, Patsy Cline, and Hank Williams.

Meh.
Always liked this song.  This album was definitely influenced by Parsons.
it's really funny how so many songs on this greatest hits album are actually covers of Bob Dylan's work.

This cover of Dylans song was from "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" in 1968. Here is the correct artwork...
That's my RADIO PARADISE!  Thanks Again  as always
Fact: Hipsters did not invent the ironic retro fetish.
Didn't know this version. Nice.

Words to live by (from Bob Zimmerman) when you just want to kick back and listen to some good tunes, including this one.

This song has been criminally neglected here at RP forever!   PLAY IT!!

Bill is finally shaking the dust off of the never playeds!

Thank you Bill!!!
Very pleasant song
