This could be the very minute
I'm aware I'm alive
All these places feel like home

With a name I'd never chosen
I can make my first steps
As a child of 25

This is the straw, final straw in the
Roof of my mouth as I lie to you
Just because I'm sorry doesn't mean
I didn't enjoy it at the time.

You're the only thing that I love
Scares me more every day
On my knees I think clearer

Goodness knows I saw it coming
Or at least I'll claim I did
But in truth I'm lost for words

What have I done? It's too late for that
What have I become? Truth is nothing yet
A simple mistake starts the hardest time
I promise I'll do anything you ask, this time.

I LOVE Snow Patrol.  This album, Final Straw, was my "courting" music with my 2nd wife.  We both loved listening to it and it brings back awesome memoiries. I have all their stuff. I love Gary's vocals and lyrics. And also love his side project, Tired Pony, with bandmates Peter Buck from R.E.M. as well as Jacknife Lee and a member of Belle and Sebastian.  Very good.
Great band. Where did they go?

"regular radio?"

WTF is that? Does that mean commercial FM radio?

Seriously, who listens to that?

I listen to freeform stations like this, no more commercial radio stations for me with their SSDD
Wouldn't class myself a fan of Snow Patrol - there was definitely a time where they were on heavy rotation on mainstream radio here in the UK - didn't help with them being covered in TV shows like Pop Idol, etc. (I was forced to watch!...)

Taking about forced - I was taken to see them live and have to say they were very entertaining, far from talentless - quite liked their album Fallen Empires - the lead single from that is great - Called Out In The Dark. 👍

Well I guess I don't listen to the "regular" radio so I don't really know what is mainstream. Which puts me in a position to not be swayed by overplaying of music. Lyrics are solid, buildup feel good.  I'm in {#High-five}

Sorry I’m spoiling everyone’s efforts to drive this off of RP.
I feel like Snow Patrol is Death Cab for Cutie with louder drums.
Where's the real Skydog?

Nah, he's right.  bought some other album they did with a brilliant tune on it.
If  thought I could get it, I'd ask for my money back.
Crap ,crappy crap, with a crap on top.

It is indeed mainstream, but I can't help but like it.

When these things get over 400 votes, their ratings become somewhat inert.  {#Wink}

Screw fashion. I like this song. So there.
The only time I screw fashion is when my wife comes home in a new outfit. And this band is marginal at best. Their new album is weak. This album is lukewarm. Pure pop puke. In that order.
madaxeman wrote:
It's a fashion thang doncha know? They get totally reviled on the Mojo board, mostly by folks who haven't heard much of their stuff. I don't think they're great or anything, but they're not the worst around by any stretch.

Band of Yeti would be a good band name.

lame repetitve dreck.
Their songs are starting to sound a lot the same. Interesting voice but not too much else going on. And how much better the Jesus and Mary Chain song playing straight afterwards sounds. Might give this one a 5.
blah yuck meh Not my thing I guess.

And the Verve Pipe mid-90's frat-boy rock torch has been passed to...

Good point - music critics don't like anything!

Blah - dull song - dull melody, sounds like all the other songs

Too late... January 23, 2007 Snow Patrol drummer Jonny Quinn has been forced to bow out of the band's European and Australian tour due to injury. Quinn broke an arm while snowboarding in the Alps forcing him to find a replacement for his upcoming tour to promote the band's new record Eyes Open.
I went to one of the first concerts after that accident, his replacement was good enough impressive, enthousiastic band!

Listen to track 1 on Eyes Open - total Gin Blossoms. Not a bad thing!
Snow Patrol Rock!

Don't worry, they have those machines now.
They've been around for over 20 years. I was glad when they came out because I generally find drummers irritating to be around. Little did I know they were a precursor to the wave of talentless "musicians" that are so prominant on the airwaves today.
I thought the name of this song was final straw...same as the album title?

Eh . . . I liked it. Possibly because I live in a radio wasteland where my choices are: be saved, Rush Limbaugh or what appears to be a "Classic Rock of the late 90's" station. I only wish I were kidding.
Is this Brittany Spears...?
No more! No more! Please...spare us!

Next.
I love Chocolate!
Sucko barfo is actually a perfect description for this ... How is the average 7??
"Sell-Out Patrol" is more like it. I heard them described somewhere as "Britpop-by-the-numbers." Couldn't agree more. And as if we needed more proof, their new single was used on Grey's Anatomy. Say good-bye to the days of ever being taken seriously.
Verizon poster children.

What's up with the "Scottish" thing? They're Irish! Northern Irish, to be precise....
Ok... so then where's the brawlin and clinkin' alcohol bottles or lyrics about potato mash?
Unfortunately for Snow Patrol, it's the most overplayed song in the history of alternative radio (at least in Minneapolis). I swear I hear it twice an hour on the same station and they STILL call it "The new one from Snow Patrol"!

If this is a standout, then I'd hate to hear the bad stuff. This tune seems to me to be just a run of the mill MTV alternative tune.

i've been listening to the album for about a week now, and it finally struck me who they sound like on a lot of tracks - Huffamoose
