I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?

Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go

This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
So why don't we go

So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?

Neil Young has been doing this piano pling pling pling for a lot longer than these guys. Maybe if they added strings or a better arrangement of the music? His singing is the best part of the song. I like the song but I suppose it can get repetitive.

People have been playing piano like that for hundreds of years.  People loved it when The Beatles did it.
Strange, 55 comments on this song from 13+ years ago, and here I am 2 months later following my own comment.
There was a viral cover of this back in 2015 when there was that meltdown over CEO Ellen Pao censoring people on Reddit.

Reminds me of this
I would love to hear a version of this with just his voice and strings (violin(s), stand up base). If it exists, please let me know.
they must get famously, famous.
I wonder when the lead singer first comprehended he has a really pleasant/beautiful voice. What was that experience like for him, and how did it happen?

Why can't we hear the track as it was back when it was released? This doesn't sound like it did on the video.
not necessarily a bad song... but it quickly tires itself out and becomes rather annoying and amateurish-sounding after a few listens. it really does kind of sound like a kiddie version of Travis, actually.

Yep.... looking forward to their acoustic show here in Atlanta on December 8th. Probably the last time they'll be here for some time.... :-(

I believe this is either a live BBC version or the UK/European version of this track.
I agree with all the coments so far saying that the album version is much tighter than this one, which seems more... I don't know. Drone-y? Certainly less aurally interesting. Still, I'm curious to find out where it came from. Anyone know?

I completely agree. This version is trite on its own, unforgivable in comparison to the album version. EDIT: Winter, hey buddy! It's late, we should go to bed. But not, uh, with each other.
Agreed - on all points, but ESPECIALLY the last.

Different version ?
Hey, it's the Campbell soup boy.

This is sort of my current favorite song....one of those I have to stop and listen to when it comes on. The vocals remind me of Freddie Mercury, in a way. Does anyone else hear it?
Close. Nowhere near as dynamic as Freddie, but close.
Though this tune is whiney, for a damb close to 30 year old male who is going through a bit of a pre mid life crissis, this song says it all!
Limp.
Travis needs to beat the crap out of these guys.

So that's who this is. I heard this on the radio and thought it sounded like Travis, while not being Travis. It's kind of generic brit-rock, but still better than 90% of the crap on commercial radio.
Funny thing that they sound like Travis...I saw them open for Travis in Toronto last year. They were somewhat less than exciting live.

I like it, okay? but I hear Wings' Let 'Em In in it. Which is interesting I think because I like Let 'Em In and if they like it too then that makes about 3 of us.
I like "Let 'Em In". A lot. So I guess that makes 4 of us. And I thought this was a pretty good song, nice vocals.
This CD has been in my player for about a month and I really like this band a great deal. Looking forward to seeing them at the Coachella Festival in April. I, too, would like to know where this version comes from even though it is no where near as good as the CD version.

Yeah...this version really isn't very good at all. They were FANTASTIC on SNL last week.

Great point. Saw them on SNL last week--had never heard of them before. IMHO, they DON'T suck. This is pretty.
it's official - this is crap

hm...sounds a lot like...a pop singer trying really hard to have a hit. Next.

Enjoy the original version much more (original meaning the one I heard on the radio first in the US...). Thought it was new Travis the first time I heard it...
Peach-y Keane!

With a bit of Travis thrown in

Don't complain about the playlist!!! Time to quote the RP Faithful "if you don't like it, go somewhere else!"

I bought the album, and this version RP is playing sounds a little more "unplugged". A little clearer. I like both versions.

Keane is popular all around the world. Btw, some bad soundquality on this song, and a bizzare version of the original one I've heard on the radios..
I like the version on the 'white' album I bought last month better than this version of the song.

well it's "kinda" old, but it's a good song. Rating: 9.
