Yeah, you're burning
Oh, you're burning
My ears with your traveling tales

But my in-laws
Oh, baby, my in-laws
Well, they're trying to tie a young man down

Well, I never should have settled down
Hanging around in a one-horse town
And ever started sleeping around
Well, I never should have settled down
Hanging around in a one-horse town
And ever started sleeping around

But this feeling
Oh, that I'm feeling
Well, you're preying on a tender heart

So this evening
Oh, baby, I'm leaving
On a one-way ticket tonight

Well, I never should have settled down
Hanging around in a one-horse town
And ever started sleeping around
Well, I never should have settled down
Hanging around in a one-horse town
And ever started sleeping around

Well, oh, oh, oh
Well, my friends said don't go settle down
Hanging around in a one-horse town
And ever started sleeping around
Guess I never should have settled down
You see, hanging around in a one-horse town
Does nothing for your state of mind

In the first seconds I found it very promising and I was looking forward to hear where it would go. Then the rhythm set in and I suddenly found it lame. :-/
Nice and shimmering! And a modulation at the end? Pure pop baby... Thrilling...

Yeah! Everybody knows there's only one band in the entire world that is allowed to play xylophone and that's the Doves!!!
Don't you mean the Violent Femmes??

hey, hey, we're the Monkeys..
Sayeth Wiki: The band often cites Neil Young, the Beach Boys and The Monkees as its main inspirations. Can't help it, I love 'em.

Hey guys, make sure you give the Doves guys their xylophone back when you're done, 'k? And, please don't tell the Flaming Lips you stole their singer and style. Ok, have fun. Decent.

This has such a great 60s groove to it -- some Motown mixed with The Foundations as the basis, with a real 90s sensibility. Well done!
Definitely ànd The Who, especially like they sound on Tommy!

Apparently the Garden State soundtrack is the disc of the day.
This isn't from Garden State.

Congratulations! I know this song from the Paste sampler and it's a keeper.
Yay, Paste samplers! Those of you who don't know what this is - go to www.pastemusic.com and prepare to be introduced to some great "off the beaten path" stuff - some tried and true, some completely new, but all worthwhile.
Apparently the Garden State soundtrack is the disc of the day.
T'would be nice to hear something other than The Single. For how little I listen to "regular" radio, I seem to hear this song a lot. These guys got anything else good?
Was about to go to lunch, but decided to stay and chairdance to this for a while. I quote myself: ChardRemains wrote:

Does the lead singer sound like the singer from the Eels? Are they the same? Should I check for myself? Did I say that or just think it? Can they hear me? They're not the same. Ok.
Good man! Work through it! Atta boy.

This isn't a bad song, but every time the intro starts in, I think I'm going to hear Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart".
I was so exited to hear "Love Will Tear Us Apart" but got this instead, not a complete disappointment, but not what I was anticipating. Poo
Just saw these guys open for The Pixies a couple of weeks ago, they were really good. This song was fun to hear live as well.
hey, i'm thrilled!

Not great, but definitely the best Thrills song I've heard so far.
From where I sit, that's damning with faint praise. I guess the lead vocalist has never appealed to be --- sounds like he's trying to be cute.
