Good planets are hard to find,
Temp'rate zones and tropic climes,
True currents in thriving seas,
Winds blowin' through breathing trees,
Strong ozone and safe sunshine,
Good planets are hard to find.

Good planets are in demand,
Clean beaches and sparkling sand,
Land masses with room to spare,
Jet streams and perfect air,
High forests and low wetlands,
Good planets are in demand.

And the mind don't know
If the heart can't see;
Let the blind man go
To his destiny...

Good planets are rare indeed,
Rain fallin' on crops and seed,
Big rivers and good topsoil,
Fuel sources from cane to oil,
Green gardens of all we need,
Good planets are rare indeed.

And the mind don't know
If the heart can't see;
Let the blind man go
To his destiny...

Good planets are scarce and few,
Earthworms and caribou,
Strong food chains and tasty meals,
Textiles and plants that heal,
Iron mountains and skies of blue,
Good planets are scarce and few.

I see your point, but your definition of "good" and mine may differ.  There are many habitable areas, homes, etc. that I would not find to be "good".
I bumped it up to a 9 just for the subject matter. Nice slide guitar work on it too.
good driving music   : P
6. good lyric. points for being Steve forbert

Nice to hear Steve Forbert. Always wondered what happened to him
smooth groove
Well, this is a great day! First time I've heard Steve Forbert here - and a song of his I've never heard before, to boot! Not many comments for this one over the years, tho'. Guess it doesn't get much play. The planets surely must have aligned for me to hear this song tonight.
Go ahead, sing it , Steve!

unfortunately the effect on the galatic economy was dire indeed...

Nice motif going here with the planets. Bill, I challenge you a Royal Straight theme. Let's see, you need a 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. What do ya got?

Hmmm... Does Bill have a theme going here?

I cannot explain why I like Ol' Steve so much. Sorta reminds me of Shel Silverstein (sp?).

I agree about Shel!  Great stuff!

Really like this tune....  first heard it on KPIG. RP should play it more often.

It's called a "blues progression."  LOL

It totally had that kind of feel - a hefty side of Cheese.

If memory serves me correctly, Sreve was Cyndi Lauper's boyfriend in her "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" video.. I know, I am showing my age, sigh!
This sounds so different from the Steve Forbert songs I know, but I like it. Maybe I just love his voice.... Starman Humans from Earth Good Planet Mother Earth Definately a theme today

First Steve Forbert song I've heard on RP and would like to hear a few more from him. Have been a fan since Alive on Arrival way back a long long time ago. This certainly isn't the best track from Rocking Horse Head. Much prefer Dream Dream, Some Will Rake The Coals, Dear Lord and If I Want You Now.
Agreed! Can anyone out there do any uploads? It would be much appreciated.

Wow Bill, really on a roll with this ecological consciousness set, between "Hard Day On the Planet" and "Mother Earth" and on to "Lonely Planet"
