I can't believe that i gave an instrumental an 8! But this is awesome!

i gave it a 9.  might move it up
Always thought this was pretty cool -- love the part where it almost breaks into the groove from the old Horace Silver original/ Steely Dan hit... I worship his work with MM&W and Government Mule, too.

I can her that. Both are GREAT TUNES!!  Thanx RP!
Thanks Bill, and your team, you rock, well, maybe not rock,  you Mellow!
I can't believe that i gave an instrumental an 8! But this is awesome!
To pile on - yes more jazz please William. There is so much that would fit in beautifully with RPs playlists.
Yeah, you always know it's John Scofield because it sounds exactly the same.
Reminds me a bit of Kenny Burrell's "Chitlins Con Carne" which William plays from time to time.

Great guy.  Bone-achingly derivative guitar player.  Unlistenable.  But truly a great guy.
I'm hearing Wes Montgomery. A good thing.

Which was actually based on Horace Silver's "Song for My Father".
Please play more tunes by him!!  Thank you!!

The more I hear this tune, the more I like it!!  Thanx RP!
Groovy background music.  Could be the soundtrack as I braise my salmon, or check my email.  (which I just did).  There is a track on this album entitled Kubrick.  Gonna mosey over to You Tube or elsewhere and dial that one up.
EXCELLENT! He's been around for a long time, but I never heard this tune before.  Thanx RP!

Yeah MM&W are great on their own and are great backing up Scofield. A go-go is a great album if you like this track. More good stuff on the rest of the album for sure, some tracks are as mellow and some have more energy .

Yeah agreed, the entire album is good, look it up you will be glad you did.

Cute, Sultry, Wet, Hot.... but all things come those who wait!!?
Well, I've never done THAT  before. First listen, an 8 rating. Before the song is done I upgrade it to a 9. Sublime!

do you have sex together?
It takes me back to Morro Bay , it feels just like the golden hills along the coast  and there is no wind just unnoticeable breeze, oh Lord it's gorgeos , this is just so well balanced sound , polite and gentle yet ......
Just love this Scofield album. He's amazing with MMW. They are so fluid together.
Saw him with überjam in Edinburgh and on his own at Queenshall. Blinking brilliant.
Reminds me a bit of Ronnie Earl.

You should get Scofield's 'That's what I say' -- a instrumental tribute to Ray Charles. Very solid album.
saw him in concert here in zurich end of last year. one of the best acts i've ever seen!!!!! absolutely rockin' those guys...
sounds like primitive variation on hancock's cantaloupe island

If you think this is OK yo might as well go the whole hog and get into proper cool jazz. This is nice enough but it's just noodling by comparison.
You're kind of comparing apples to oranges here. Cool jazz is a California subgenre that followed bebop in the 50s; prime examples include Dave Brubeck, Modern Jazz Quartet, and Miles Davis (circa "Birth of the Cool"). John Scofield is a jazz fusion master with a solid grounding in bebop, blues, and R&B. He played with Miles during his whacked-out early-80s period, and he's played with everyone from Charles Mingus to Pat Metheny to Medeski Martin & Wood. If you don't like any jazz that's been made since the 50s, you're welcome to your opinion; but dismissing it as "noodling" is just ignorant. There's a lot of bad jazz fusion out there, but this isn't an example.

I thought it sounded like MM&W. And I hear the Dan sounds too. But more than anyone else, it reminds me of Jeff Beck. Surprised to see no one else thought that. I like it. Plenty.

I hear it, indeed.

Nah. This is better than nice enough. As a matter of fact, John Scofield was good enough to play in Miles Davis' band along with Branford Marsalis, Darryl Jones and other talented players in the early 80's. By the way, what is proper cool Jazz anyways? Does it always have to be from the 50's or early 60's? The correct answer is no.
I cant' tell you how many times I've seeen him open up for someone else and blow the so called "main attraction" off the stage.

Excellence all around. Max Roach would approve of the skins too, I believe.

i must be out in left field, judging by all the comments but i think john should not share his green tea, keep that music to himself!
