I thought it was funny when you, missed the train
When I rang you at home, they said you'd left, yesterday
I thought it was strange when your, car was found
By the tree in Ennis where we used to hang around

Dear Isobel, I hope you're well, and what you've done is right,
Oh it's been such hell, I wish you well, I hope you're safe tonight
It's been a long day coming and long will it last
When it's last day leaving, and I'm helping it pass
By loving you more

And who would he become, all the things he'd have done
Would he have loved you, and not let you down?
And would he be stronger than his father?
Don't punish yourself; leave it well alone

Dear Isobel, I hope you're well, and what you've done is right,
Oh it's been such hell, I wish you well, I hope you're safe tonight
It's been a long day coming and long will it last
When it's last day leaving, and I'm helping it pass
By loving you more

There is a track on this disc about a girl who offs herself, and the singer is taking care of her boyfriend, Daniel. It's as good as any song I've heard this year. Isobel, as good a song as it is, is not even close to the best track on this disc. Warning: if you don't like well crafted, heavily produced female pop songs, you won't like this record. She's no PJ Harvey. However, if you dig Norah Jones, Beth Orton, Cocteau Twins, Lisa Loeb, Alanis M, etc, you will enjoy this album. BTW: I came into Dido sideways from Faithless. If you are a fan of poetic urban hum, then check out their records. They are all good. I guess I would describe them as Massive Attack meets Seal meets Wordsworth.
This was a superb CD, to be sure, and one I absolutely played to death. But of all songs on it, this would be one of the last I'd put on RP.
