Good for you!  Now learn how to use the "skip button"!  ...Problem solved!  I think this tune is GREAT!!  ....along with a lot of other RP listeners!  Thanx RP!
The more I hear this, the more I like it!!    Thanx RP!
I love THIS and you, Radio Paradise!
Nope, doesn't work. Tries too hard to be epic, but fails. Playing el. violin like a guitar and mimicking some of classic violin sound is a gimmick at best.
EXCELLENT!! I never heard of him before.  Thanx RP!
Am I the only one who feels this is the basis for "A Real Hero" by College, soundtrack of Drive (with Ryan Gosling), year 2010? This sounds like more than just a vague similitude...
I lasted 30 seconds. Like shrieking breaking glass.
Sort of loopish......but nice. Like...
In context this stuff is great. Ed perfected this busking around Bristol before eventually recording it in 1994, some was then used in a commercial and the album sold well.
first time hearing this artiste. i do like it. thanks, rp.
loved it. thanks RP, had to check out the artist.

I think I like this -- but it could be the fact that I've been working with only 4-5 hour sleep breaks for a couple of weeks straight now without a day off. Maybe I'm having a breakdown so this sounds good :-) Anyway in my current state of mind this appealed to me. Well rested perhaps I'd hate it.
I'm affraid i'm well rested.
I like this. Some parts are curious... even weird... but interesting textures. And I don't mind repetition in some cases, like this one.
I like the blurry "personal ad" Ozzie photo. Need a little more practice on the instrument, then it'll be ready.
Very very nice, but still far from Glass' class.

Cats... screaching... Make them stop! Make them stop NOW, please, PLEase, PLEASE!!!!
Reminds me of a line from an old movie or TV show (Fame perhaps) where one of the instructors at a music school hears a student playing with a synthesizer and says something like, "That's not music. That's electronic masturbation." Pretty much sums up my feelings for this song. Yuck.

Speaking of Eno, does anyone else hear strains of "Diamond Head" by Phil Manzanera?
Kinda like Yngwie Malmsteen on violin. A 4. No, a 3.
Sounds like ENYA bought a violin but got pissed off because she could not learn how to play it! I love the violin, but this is a failed attempt.
Pretty much the kind of music I would expect from someone with the last name of Alleyne-Johnson.
... ... no, seriously
Wow, thats a litttle sharp...and I don't mean that in a good way.
What a bucket of slop.
Some instruments should not be amplified. This is just electronic noise. The wooden soul of a violin is completely missing.
Nice turn with the thinking man's gutbucket

You are insufficiently discriminating. That said, I'm leaving this one on regular volume, at least for now.

Whee!! That was fun. Me go buy that album now. = )
Inner City My Foot! :headshake: I must say I was thankful for the strings after that god forsaken guitar tho!!! :-({|=
and just when you think its winding down... it comes back around again!
Pretty. Not amazing, but OK.
This may be the first time I've ever turned down the volume on Radio Paradise.
I kinda like the electronic string sound.
The very beginning makes me think of "Stand By Me" (the song, not the movie).
man, that's great. It's like ozzy does godspeed. thanks bill
this reminds me of the string-quartet version of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" that was used in The Wedding Singer. In fact, I think I might rather hear that.
awful
Bonus points for going for the Ozzy look
AIEEEEE! MY EARS! MAKE IT STOP!!! You can only repeat one musical frame so many times, no matter how much you accompany it with FINGERNAILS ON THE BLACKBOARD. Sheesh. I can do this with CakeWalk about 5 seconds of fiddling.

I like the sound of this-to call it souless is presume a knowledge of the artist i don't have. Like it or don't like it, but don't judge the artist's guts and heart.

I hear the Ponty in here a little too.
That was kinda starting to make my head ache, but I could just be in a really bad mood. :fever.gif:
Now THIS is the sort of music the salesman puts on the cd player when you test drive a Lexus or something like that. Sounds soothing, significant, mellow and all midrange with a touch of upper midrange. In the end you come to your senses and realize not only is the Lexus soul-less but the music is as well. Junk.
Instantly likeable, for some oddly likeable reason :) Puckish methinks
What Inner City did this come from? Vienna? :-({|=
Works for me... I really like this. s majortom505 wrote:

i don't know. i've spent some time in the inner city, and never heard anything like this coming from the windows or ghetto blasters...
Phillip Glass barfing an alley. Oh, I am so mean. Keep up the good work, Bill, but this one is not high on my personal list.
If someone explained this song to me, I'd say I wouldn't like it... Having heard it, however: 8 ba-by!

I concur. This sounds like a mix between Herbie Hancock and rock opera.
As mentioned in a previous post, very Ponty-like.

I used to love Laurie Anderson too... Big Science. What happened to her? This isn't nearly weird enough.
She's the Artist-In-Residence at NASA. No joke.
This is pretty cool ... very enjoyable.
I like this a lot. I LAHK IT A-LAHT.

I don't like the tone of his violin with the distortion. It was nice once he turned it off.
That's the part I like. Naturally. See also: Jesus and Mary Chain.
Woah, there is kind of a Satriani thing going on here. This is cool. Violin with..phase/flange? If anything were changed on this song, I could see myself detesting it, but I like how it was put together.
English teachers! It's the guy from the Headway Elementary Video!

she got old and married lou reed.

Most of it is good, but there's a few passages when it sounds like Jean Luc Ponty trying to drive his mother-in-law out of the house.
OMG, look what you've done - now I have to clean my chair where you made me wet it!
Ummm, splunge?

Just really great stuff here. A lot of times, I find the best music is that which can effortlessly evoke any emotion you happen to be feeling - essentially, that which merely amplifies life.
Well said.
Just scratched and clawed it's way to 9... Ahhhhhh....
Lovely :sunny.gif:
As Frank Zappa said, "Kill Ugly Radio - they won't play this!" This is why we listen to Paradise and XM Radio.

Ditto!
Hmmm... Frippertronics for violin. I applaud the skill, but too many parts of this just grate on my ears.

What the? Stradivarius through a Marshall? Flanger too? I need time to think about this one.
Like it. INEXPLICABLY. I LIKE IT!!! An 8.

All the music on this album is 1 take live with 1 man (and 1 violin) and no prerecorded material! The way he gets the layers is to use banks of looped delay effect pedals.
Umm, wow. Can you imagine trying to do that? This guy has some sort of crazy mental organization going on. Impressive...most impressive! And I think he is a Jedi!
Beautiful.
This is lovely. I can imagine this track carrying one through heartache or joy.
woah, surprising. excellent.
Wooo, my upload made the grade :) This album especialy, and the similarly titled 'Purple Electronic Violin Concerto 2', are great records. A little samey in places, but that is all down to how he makes the music. All the music on this album is 1 take live with 1 man (and 1 violin) and no prerecorded material! The way he gets the layers is to use banks of looped delay effect pedals. Be warned however, he seems to go a little odd on the other albums. So it's doubtfull that both styles of Ed are going to work for any one person.
Thought it was Tubular Bells for a minute there..... I like it.
Very interesting. Good work. Like it.
Sounds like Joe Satriani, never a bad thing.
