Hey, hey
When everything goes wrong
Sometimes it makes no sense

Hey, hey
There once was a time
I should have known better then
Hey, hey
Although you may try
It won't come your way again

Hey, little girl
Where will you hide
Who can you run to now
Hey, little girl
Where will you go
Who can you turn to now

Hey, hey
So why should I care
If somebody let you down
Hey, hey
That's nothing new
I know just what that can mean

Hey, hey
Well, the way that they talk
The talk is all over town
Hey, hey
And it's no surprise
Little girls hurt sometimes

Hey, little girl
Where will you hide
Who can you run to now
Hey, little girl
Where will you go
Who can you turn to now

Hey, hey
When everything goes wrong
Sometimes it makes no sense
Hey, hey
Hey, little girl
I should have known better
Known better then

Hey, hey
Hey, little girl
Where will you hide
Who can you run to now
Hey, little girl
Where will you hide
Who can you run to now
Hey, little girl
Where will you go
Who can you turn to now

I was always amazed why Icehouse, Split Enz (Crowded House) never got the attention they deserved. What a great band and killer records. As good as Bowie, Roxy, Talk Talk and the list goes on!! Thanks Bill!!

Bowie?  That's a stretch.
Icehouse has always had a spot in my library, simply because my high school girlfriend and I shared our first kiss in a club after a night of dancing while "Crazy" was playing.  I didn't hear this track until many years later (probably here actually), but when it came up I recognized the voice.  It's really a surprise they only had the one big hit in the US, multiple songs like this should have been hits...but I guess that's the fickleness of the music business for you.

GOOD TUNE!  I never heard of them prior to RP. That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!
Always liked Icehouse and I think they are underrated.
I love the early stuff recorded under the band name Flowers. Great Aussie music.
I've just been smacked by epic nostalgia, what a track!
I heard this song a million time and I never knew who sings. Anyway, it's so fresh to hear it again.
Iva Davies does a killer version of Heroes by Bowie. Check it out on YouTube. Best cover out there.

Maybe because that niche was already occupied?

For a second? I thought this was Roxy Music for the past 40 years...
Still sounds great - 40 years old. Crikey!

Same thing happened with Split Enz/Crowded House. I love these guys and Ice House and have all their records
Imagine !  I saw Icehouse live bring in 2020 ....what a treat! No idea of what was to come our way during the year.  But it was a superb concert.
Love it
I keep hearing David Sylvian's voice.

How long do you imagine that'll take?
A cracking track, gets the foot going sitting in lockdown at the PC with a RP providing relief in the background.

Me too, I always thought it was Bryan Ferry/ Roxy Music!
love this tune !
Uh... a really boring song with limited style, lyrics, or melodies.

Flashback ahoy!!! Love this tune!
Don't remember hearing this one. But like most music from this era, I like it!

Not if you remember it.
Maybe play Gangajang "Sounds of Then" or INXS "Dancing on the Jetty" or " Horizons". Oz will love it.
Bill likes it so I'm going 8
Brings back heaps of memories. Ahhh...the good old days! Thanks for playing this!
I haven't heard this in almost thirty years. Thanks!

Can anyone explain how these lyrics aren't misogynist AF?
Sure, LOTS of rock/pop lyrics are, but "hey little girl where will you hide"?
Wasn't on the page and thought for sure this was Joywave
Forgettable
Sounds like Bryan Ferry to me

First time hearing this and I had to check it wasn't obscure Bryan Ferry. Liking it.
Really nice, can hear it again and again and again.{#Bananajumprope}

How about some Triffids, as well.  I'd be stoked once and a while to hear some Wide Open Road.
Going to see them on their 40th anniversy tour at the end of the month woo hoi
A little like foxy music

Once again, RP brings me back.  I forgot about Icehouse.

I started off ignoring this one as I thought it boring, yet as time goes by... it really is quite nice  puts me in mind of both Talk Talk and  Younger Brother at the same time.
Sounds just like Icehouse to me.Great song, great band.Crap on Palmer and Roxy Music!
Oh this is great!  I love Roxie Music!

I bought their Primitive Man CD from Amazon so yes, they do have the song plus a plethora of other good ones.  I want to thank RP for reminding me of this excellent band.

Funny you should say that...  they opened for Roxy Music in the Sydney Cricket Ground concert in the very early 1980's. Great concert even if I can't remember the exact year.

Nice to hear.  Reminds me of my old Aussie GF who I'm still friend with after almost 30 years.  damn, it's been a long time...
Put the Tenax in your hair. Slip on your cut off sleeveless T shirt. The Vuarnets. Good to go.

Hey, even if the reference was to Rick Astley (whom I saw on TV the other day), there's a good article here about Rick Springfield. The guy is busy with recording, performing and acting on TV ( including "Californification" and "True Detective"):

Long time not heard. Pretty memories. Almost forgotten. Thanks for bringing it back!

"It's alway cold out in the Icehouse" was their best tune.

Weird feeling, but getting me to look up bands and musicians I've never heard of is one of the things I love about RP. Keep the variety!!

The singer's vocal style was obviously influenced by Bryan Ferry, but musically, this does not sound very much like Roxy Music to me.

New wave pop of the highest order - Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy {#Biggrin}  Still sounds great today!
Pop sludge of the lowest order!
I always thought that this was a Bowie tune off Let's Dance". Obviously I didn't buy that Bowie Album.

Damn!  Haven't heard this song for decades! The song was a HUGE hit in Sydney at Christmas time 1982. Sipping beers late at night on Coogee Beach......I remember it well, when I were a younger man!

Yes they were/are Australian.  Hence the name of the album that this came from, "Great Southern Land".

Funny, this sounds like a bad karaoke singer trying his best Bryan Ferry to a sped up Roxy Music soundtrack.

Takes me back to high school. Icehouse has stood up pretty well compared to other 80s synth bands.
I, too, thought it was BF. Quite nice.

I had recently uploaded some Japan, but all rejected (Tin Drum stuff). Sylvian made plenty of albums...a few cuts from the first 3 or 4 albums would make good RP tunes. There is one song in library from the Fripp collaboration...
I recall when uploading a Sylvian that there had been quite a few previously uploaded and all rejected. If they won't take Orpheus, Red Guitar or When Poets Dreamed of Angels then it is hopeless on the Sylvian front.
SuperWeh wrote:

Yeah, I was thinking this was solo Bryan Ferry until I checked to see what it was.
One of my favorite bands of all time. This gem is originally from their first album. It got better from there!

I hate to be so unpatriotic but this is not Iva's best. He's an oboeist who studied at the Sydney Conservatorium so he does have some really musical numbers in his repertoire. This is a pretty commercial track and it's very old (hence the new romantic 80's sound)- the cd displayed is a 'greatest hits'.
SuperWeh wrote:

His voice reminds me of both Bryan Ferry and David Sylvian. A catchy, well produced, upbeat song. Commercial doesn't have to mean inferior at all.
