"Goodbye Jumbo" was the gate album for World Party for me.  Karl's story is incredible.  Worked back from a stroke and couldn't talk.  His latest live album is great. Thx, Bill!

I saw INXS when they were just starting out in the Belmont 16' Sailing Club in 1980 in Australia and Michael Hutchence swaggered out to grab the microphone just like an early Mick Jagger - swaying, crossed legs, pouting - the whole nine yards.

Michael even tried to copy Mick's vocal style and delivery - but of course he couldn't and eventually developed his own style.

Actually this singer is like what might have happened in a parallel universe where Mick Jagger got singing lessons!

Karl Wallinger... also from the Waterboys.  He's really remarkable.  Unique and beautiful music. Saw him live in Annapolis, MD.  He plays a right-handed Les Paul upside down (left handed) with no pick, just fingering.  His albums are well-worth owning.

Even though I owned this back in the eighties, and re-acquired it recently, I still do a mental double-take, because this song just sounds like the Stones. Period.

I ordered what I thought was a new recording recently. It is a re-release of previous recordings. It really is almost the same as the DVD that came with Dumbing Up. Still good, but not new. I hope Karl has recouped from his anurism (sp?).....
