I'm so glad that you decided to come

Go ahead make yourself comfortable darlin'
I've got a proposition for you
There's a room available inside of my heart
And I hope it will be taken by you

You can bring whatever you wanna bring baby
Each and everyone of your friends
And if you want a dog or a big bullfrog
Hell I've even got room for them

I'm so glad you decided to come

Another day and I could've gone mad
Another day and it might've gotten bad
Another day and I might have betrayed
Every scruple I have

You cause in me an impossible craving
That cannot be denied
If I decided to make you my religion
I think God would be kind

So I made a wish on a million of her stars
And registered your name on a few
That way if you forget who you are
You can look up and see a picture of you

I'm so glad you decided to come

Another day and I could've gone mad
Another day and it might've gotten bad
Another day and I might have betrayed
Every scruple I have

I have to keep a hold of myself
Is that really you or is it someone else
I swear it looks just like him
I wonder can he see what a state I'm in
Like a broken bridge
I gotta swing on him like a jungle gym

Father: I've been inside her house
I've experienced her madness
And I rejected the entire experience

Another day and I could've gone mad
Another day and it might've gotten bad
Another day and I might have betrayed
Every scruple I have

Another day and I could've gone mad
Another day and it might've gotten bad
Another day and I might have betrayed
Every scruple

Besides her compelling voice, she's assembled one kick-ass band. Love this CD.

Yup. She writes and produces too.
I’ve greatly enjoyed everything I’ve heard from her.
A couple songs , fine. But 11 by this artist is a bit much.
This has no hook. Nothing exceptional. Probably great in a bar. It would never make my play list. And really that’s all that matters. 😜
haven't heard this here before. Funky gweetar. I like it!
Jaaaa .......
Kick ass - Rock and Roll :)

I'm pretty sure it's an audio sample of her father, Ted Danielewski. He had left cassette tapes (audio-letters) for her and her brother that they listened to after he died.  This album is essentially a tribute to her father.

Maybe.  I think I hear Sheryl Crow more than Chrissie... but it's all good.
Rock & Roll baby!

(So far, that's one "yes", one "no." If anyone else posts on this point, update the score, please.)

I also hear Chrysie Hynde.

I am stunned at the mediocre rating this album receives here. I feel like people posting remarks such as the one below must be listening to another album. Every track is a gem and the Haunted theme is used brilliantly. It's a rare album that holds together as a whole to the point that it gains from being played consecutively, but this one does. So fie on all you naysayers.

Amen!!!  The world needs more Poe.

This is so far the only song by her I haven't muted immediately. Mostly 'cause it sounds a little like the vastly superior Shirley Manson.

POE rocks! I don't know what you guys are complaining about?

I used to listen to this whole album non-stop in early 2001. Such a great concept album — I wish she did more solo work.
Better POE tracks to be heard. But luv hearing her here nonetheless. Thanks Bill!

Cheryl somewhere near....

2 no vs 1 yes

Love Poe and this album, but I think this is one of the weakest tracks.

I think she has the same concern, as she hasn't released another CD of her own after this one.

I believe this is due to disputes with her record company, though those could have been cleared up by now, I'm not sure. I know that it's always a pleasure to hear her, whether it's on one of her own songs, or with another group (Delirium, Conjure One, etc.).

Thanks for your input. I love the station, have rated well over 500 songs, and I agree with the other guy.

There isn't even one dud on this CD... IMO it's a masterpiece- so much so that I worry she'll never be able to come close to recording anything as good in the future.
The Ms speaks the truth, per usual, on both counts.
If anyone's got info on her, please pass it on. Last I heard, she'd set up her Myspace page and started posting updates. The last one was over a year ago, but she was tracking new stuff. I've emailed her/her Myspace folks and got no reply.

something pretty good (if you get it, well, that's a different thing, dude)

Thought I was hearing a Shania Twain song. Not one of Poe's best moments.
Hah! I asked a bunch of my friends if this song didn't sound like Shania Twain when it came out and all I got was a bunch of blank stares :) Glad to see that, if I'm crazy, I've at least got a bit of company. And I second those who suggest that, once you spend some time with this album as a thematic whole (assuming you do that sort of thing) you'll actually dig it. That being said, this was never one of my favorite songs on the album (those would tend towards Walk the Walk and Not a Virgin). I actually think what I like about the album has less to do with the songs than the atmosphere she succeeds in creating.

Everytime I hear her I really like her.
The whole album is great, one of the best I've heard in years, and needs to be listened through from start to finish. But it's cool to have one of the tunes pop up here.

i agree, mediocre polished pop. i got bamboozled by the sexy style and bought the album ... i got tired of it half way thru the first spin.
Did you really listen to it, or were you doing something else? I loved the sound, got the disc, then read the liner notes. Now I like it more. Admittedly, I don't think that this is one of the better tracks on the disc.
Poo(p)
Poe rules. Poe is a person, not a group. This album is one of the best albums of the past 20 years - I'd put it in the top 10. If you don't care for her voice, that's one thing, but the music on this disc is simply incredible, original, and only Poe could have made this record.

Try to be more careful with those q-tips.

Cool, but extremely slick. Does anybody else hear some Madonna influence in the vocals? Or is that just the digital compression?
Yeah, except that Poe can sing while Madonna can only market.

Is there some POE Payola going on? There's a lot more Shania Twain sound-alikes we're missing out there. feh.
Thought I was hearing a Shania Twain song. Not one of Poe's best moments.
I'm surprised the read head on my CD player hasn't burned a hole in my copy of this disk yet. Poe is the QUEEN!
yes, poe. yes. this works.
damn! poe rawks so hard. no trash talk now. if it's not your thing, just wait a minute and it'll pass. however, for some of us it just ain't enough. enjoy...
OK, yeah...Poe rocks...

Poe is anything but a one-hit-wonder. This album is full of great cuts. In fact I would say there's not a bad song on it. How many CDs can you say that about in general?
Nice somewhat deeper cut from an outstanding album.
let this would-be one-hit-wonder fade away, please. there is nothing special here.
I don't like this group at all. Haunted... I agree with the name of the CD. The lead singer always sounds as if she is in pain.
This would be Goddess Like! Lets hear it for a pretty lady and Pro Tools.
This entire album is incredible. More Poe!!
