Their shit recording contract killed this insanely great band.
Huge here in Manch.
This could be a Pixies ballad.

were there more lyrics? kidding but the tune is great...

I'm not reading any comments -- just laughing at the "KissThisGuy" lyrics.

wait... who am I kidding?

Of COURSE I read the comments!! WOOF!! lmao!

Record label shenanigans killed the Roses more than any party drugs.

Working from home and turned this up so loud and just soaking up this classic. 4.30 seconds to escape the world and reveal in its gloriousness....
Not reading any comments. Just enjoying this gem of a song.
That mix coming from Pink Floyd Empty Spaces/Young Lust to this is one of the greatest I've ever heard, thank you

Getting old. I guess the words fit the moment (November 2020...) but as a song it's tired.

Always turned this up to “11”.
Fromm the Official video on YouTube:

when i was younger, around 4 or 5, i'd always refer to this as 'the dog song' ... 'dad play the dog song' and then i'd sing the words 'i wanna be a doooog' had my dad in stitches

Funniest comment ever!
I don't want to be a door. I'd rather be a window.

god this brings me back...I still love this song
Still one of my hymnes of the 90s. What a song! What a band!  {#Crown}
Who doesn't?
Still sends chills when I hear this, I wish it was 1989/90 again! An alternative music zenith
Crazy how many good bands come from Manchester!
*faints with joy*
Still gives me goose pimples no matter how many times I hear this track. Lost too many friends and this track gets to me every time.
Still outstanding. {#Cheesygrin}
Outstanding.

Amazing.
30? really? remember what we thought of any music 30 years old? at best exotic, a bit square.  but probably from some completely different world. and it was.

i think this stands the time test quite well.
Such a fresh, vibrant album and a perfect time capsule. It still jumps out of the speakers almost 30 years on.
Yeah, me too. Ah well, maybe next lifetime...
True fact. My son when he was about 4 or 5 was singing along to this in the car and was caught using the "dog" word, so tis a bit confusing. At 15 this is still one of his favorite bands, a man with taste!
Masterpiece. More so, because they never repeated anything even close to this quality.

Of all the mondegreens through the past half century or so of listening to songs on radio and now the ether, this must be the most
consistently misinterpreted I have heard. I wanna be a dog wins on all counts. I wish it was possible to hear it as sung, or so I imagine.
Fine, be a dog then... woof.

they were adored in the weekend at Wembley stadion...
Reni is truly spectacular on the drums {#Drummer}, busy as hell on those cans...
the rest of the guys felt like a overgrown boy band, but still it was a good experience to catch them live, finally.

Adoooooooorrrrrr-aaaahhhhhhhhhhh-dorrrrred!!!   you are by me  : )

EXACTLY!  That part where he keeps barking that he wants to be a dog....

Reminds me of the time I dropped into a leather shop in Folsom Gulch, not far from The Eagle, looking for a decent motorcycling jacket, when I spied a couple of fellows next to my rack.  One was dressed pretty normally w/ jeans, and the other was trying on the leather.  The jeans guy was standing there reassuring his partner, who was on his hands and knees wearing a studded dog-collar that was connected to a leash that was held by Mr. Blue Jeans — "It's okay, there now.  That's better isn't it?" were the very words of Mr. Blue Jeans to Fido.

This song and that visual are forever linked in my mind....

Fantastic album! Shame they couldn't do more of this calibre.
Probably the most natural, loose, almost lazy guitar riffs I have ever heard - genius
Very Cool!
Who doesn't? Absolutely Brilliant

I don't wanna be a dog !

My sister-in-law's ex left her with 'needing to be adored' as one of the reasons he left - makes it hard to like this song but I do anyway (sorry S-I-L)

When I was 18 I had a home made tie dye shirt with I want to be adored written awkwardly on the back in black marker pen.  Damn I was cool ....or some other temperature.
Not bad, but I'd rather hear The Stone Foxes.
My first introduction to stone Roses was this beauty :) and yeah... I thought it was. .. "I want to be a dord" lol! Until a while later when I saw the title on the album sleeve {#Iamwithstupid}

a great piece of post-modern psychedelia.

WikiLeaks Volunteer Was a Paid Informant for the FBI

Thordarson was long time volunteer for WikiLeaks with direct access to Assange and a key position as an organizer in the group. With his cold war-style embassy walk-in, he became something else: the first known FBI informant inside WikiLeaks. For the next three months, Thordarson served two masters, working for the secret-spilling website and simultaneously spilling its secrets to the U.S. government in exchange, he says, for a total of about $5,000. The FBI flew him internationally four times for debriefings, including one trip to Washington D.C., and on the last meeting obtained from Thordarson eight hard drives packed with chat logs, video and other data from WikiLeaks.

The relationship provides a rare window into the U.S. law enforcement investigation into WikiLeaks, the transparency group newly thrust back into international prominence with its assistance to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. Thordarson’s double-life illustrates the lengths to which the government was willing to go in its pursuit of Julian Assange, approaching WikiLeaks with the tactics honed during the FBI’s work against organized crime and computer hacking — or, more darkly, the bureau’s Hoover-era infiltration of civil rights groups...

I am not sure about adored, but everyone wants to be envied, it's an essential part of what it means to be human.  It's a base emotion, though, and not one to be celebrated.  This song plays off that irony.

Funny, Ive heard this many times over the years, but never really listened to nor remembered it.

Now, thanks to you, it is, and shall always be, remembered with the refrain, "I wanna be a dog!".

Ah, well, at least, I'm more likely to remember it, and grin, next time.... :)

Wouldn't mind being one of MY dogs anyway...
