I went to my doctor yesterday
She said I seem to be OK
She said "Paul, you better look around
How long you think that
You can run that body down?
How many nights you think
That you can do
What you been doing
Who, now who you foolin'?"

I came back home
And I went to bed
I was resting my head
My wife came in
And she said "What's wrong
Sweet boy, what's wrong?"
I told her what's wrong
I said "Peg, you better look around
How long you think that
You can run that body down?
How many nights you think
That you can do
What you been doing
Who, now who you foolin'?"

Kids you better look around
How long you think that
You can run that body down?
How many nights you think
That you can do
What you been doing
Who, now who you foolin'?
Who, now who you foolin'?

This song sounds like written by somebody so desperate for inspiration that anything will go...
...or by somebody so full of himself that he thought he can work any odd idea into a song.

Well, he can't, not even Paul Simon.
The lyrics don't fit the melody and the melody itself is an incongruous mess, even for a jazzy number.
Quite a hatchet-job from an otherwise great artist.
appropiate,
i'm up early this morning for a doctors appointment
If I've heard this song, I forgot about it - released before my time. Fantastic - thanks, Bill!

Maybe the best Paul Simon Album ever.  Nice choice Bill.  :-)

yep, I did like "Live Rhyming" a lot too
Nice - it's been so long since I've heard this one.  I didn't even know how much I missed it...
Ahhh, that was nice.
"How long you think that you can run that body down?"
I ask myself that question every time I open another bag of those evil Kettle Chips.
Maybe the best Paul Simon Album ever.  Nice choice Bill.  :-)
..whether doctor dealer or humourous advice to newlyweds... a mundane tale delivered with such beguiling music ...genius
Gee, what a nice surprise.  They say that Paul writes all of his songs about people whom he knows.
{#Bananapiano} ........ luv this song a lot. Thanks RP
