And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day

Just walk away, Renée
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

From deep inside the tears that I'm forced to cry
From deep inside the pain that I chose to hide

Just walk away, Renée
You won't see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries

Just walk away, Renée
You won't see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries

Your name and mine inside a heart upon a wall
Still finds a way to haunt me though they're so small

Just walk away, Renée
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

My name is Renee. I was 10 years old when this song came out. I was endlessly taunted and bullied with this song, so ....
SUCKO-BARFO
nice to see the lyrics.
So many jokes about not being able to understand the song  except "Don't walk away, Renee" when heard on AM radio.
I would have bet anything this song was written by someone in Motown
Never seen a band’s genre tagged as Baroque pop before, and I hope I never do again.

WOW! Flashback! It's been eons since I have heard this. One of my old time favourites! Thank you RP.
My uncle had the 45 and I accidentally sat on it, smashing it to bits. We laughed about it later, but I'll never forget it! Quite unfortunately he's passed away now, but hearing the song again made me think of him. Thank you, RP!
What kingart said
Maybe the song is OK, but all I could hear was the horribly out-of-tune vocals, that destroyed everything.
I think all the blame for 'Seasons in the Sun' can be laid at the feet of this song.
I hope some of you younger folks get to experience the joy of hearing the opening chords of an iconic song that has become an integral part of your life some day.
It's a moving experience...
Now that's a pretty bad song for RP.  And what is with the name of the band?  What is a banke?  Is that supposed to be French?
Another gear in the RP Time Machine. This one gets a 9 on the nostalgia meter, a 6 on the song craft. Gosh, so wistful about a miserable guy who got dumped. But it's a lovely melody.
Reminds me of being inducted into the Navy at Floyd Bennet Field and I remember this song was playing in the cafeteria.
An all-time favorite for me.  Very pretty.
Still brilliant, passionate vocals and what a hook. Still works.
First time hearing this on RP - Eclectic indeed.  Fresh blast from my past.
OK, I'm busting out in tears. This is the amazing RP Time Machine.
Good grief, this was a theme song from my summer of 1966. Sappy as hell but...perfect.
George Cameron, the LB drummer who penned this song, recently passed away at 70. RIP. You created a classic for the ages.

that guy with the goofy grin sitting in the center looks like Peter Tork from the Monkees  : )
I haven't heard this song in years and I suddenly thought of it last night, so I put it on You Tube on repeat all morning, only to take a break and listen to RP, and then I hear it here.

It's so simple, weakly sung, heart-felt and heart-breaking.  "You're not to blame."  Wonderful.
Used to hear this on a transistor radio.lol   Seems like I haven't heard it in 40 years. Thanks Bill
had this on a 45 record that i almost wore out.
A gap of comments since 2007 until today - 11 years ago.

I recognise this song but not this original version - the singing is a bit 'pitchy' as they say on the X Factor and such talent shows.

In my opinion there is no justification for playing this one instead of the far superior Four Tops-version. Even if this would turn out to be the original.
I remember a rumor from many years ago that the "flute solo" in this song was essentially lifted from a classical recording - what would later be called "sampled" - but I've never found any evidence to support that.
"Last play: Nov 15, 2003"
Way ahead of their time.
Hey! Didn't the Four Tops ALSO have a very cool version of this song? Check out "Pretty Ballerina" for an even better example of these guys' sugar-coated psychedelia!
Hey, Bill hears the segue betw. this and Stina Nordensomething too. Cool. Not worth it, but cool proof that there's a dj at the helm.
This gets a 5 or so on the nostalgia meter - It's easily 20 years or more since I heard it last. That's a darn good thing. I hope it happens like that again becuse this was mediocre at best. I also noted the similarity with Sharon and Hope - but not to that song's benefit.
A very nice arrangement of a nicely crafted melody. This was a bit before my time but I learned to love it on the oldies stations around here. It is a great song and I love to hear it. It makes me nostalgic for whatever reason.
I was in the minority in my Jr High that liked this song....but then again I really liked the Stones and The Doors when everyone else was into the Monkeys!! pbm 8^)
How lovely to hear this song on RP! Are you guys feeling nostaligic lately or something? I've notice lots of great vintage stuff lately. Or maybe it's just me. Kudos, as always.
Please Stop. Oh my God STOP!
