So you've paid your dues,
(No intention to)
Those Elvis frauds, how they'll applaud,
Farewell my friends

So in your rock'n'roll
(In your rock'n'roll)
And pretty soon those pretty girls
Will find your home

We'll pay you handsomely (But you see)
Dont steal our sun
Dont steal our sun(You're just killin' fun)

I said you felt so good
(I said you felt so good)
Well I'm amazed
hey what a show

i heard you're dating Sue (yeah your welcome to)
I'd love to talk
but don't we know
That don't ring true

We'll pay you handsomely (But you see)
Dont steal our sun
Dont steal our sun(You're just killin' fun)

Getting tiresome. The Thrill(s) is gone.
Wow. Such dislike for such a catchy, fun tune. I'd rather hear harmonies in a song like this a thousand times more than one listen of Sugar Ray tune

i agree. not nearly as good. rip elliot smith...
Hey, where's Chandler? Where's Monica? Happy, happy bouncy......

Verrry old. This sounds like EARLY Monkees. Even they got better than this when they started playing their own guitars.

this song isn't bad. this song isn't good. its kind of like lukewarm water.
eww, just because it worked for the Beatles doesn't mean it can work for you.
crap! all has been said...
Hmm. Based on this song and Big Sur, I bought the album. I love the power-pop chords and the unbelievable harmonies. But that being said...what I find myself bristling over is the lead singer's ability to twist enough vowels around so a lot of words don't actually sound like the words themselves. The album is also a touch repetitive - I just didn't find enough variety in it. I also have a petty little beef with the whole album being about California when the band is from Ireland, but I digress. :)

And Big Star...
and there's nothing wrong with big star.
a "little ELO"? All it needs is a vocoder to go "Misssstr Bwue Schkiiiiii".... deron wrote:
dig the tune..a little ELO..a little WILCO. i actually bought the CD and the rest of the album is REALLY, REALLY wilco-esque. this is one of the better songs from the album..although i should have another listen to be sure. whatever..i'm rambling. peace.
Wow, can't believe all the negative comments about the Thrills...although this song is not one of their best it is still original, doesn't sound like every other song out there. The rest of the CD is much better, and if you go to see them live it's fun to watch the singer spasm out as he sings.

music this banal ... should at least mean something.
that's brilliant, man. simply brilliant. thanks for your input.

Well said. 8)
Yep. It's Elliot Smith.
Sounds really similar to the Flaming Lips to me (vocals anyway). I'm not thrilled by either band. I just looked at the other song they have on the RP playlistâ€"Big Surâ€"and I had posted that it sounded like the Flaming Lips to me there as well. I'm nothing if not consistent.
Getting truly annoying.
Less than the sum of its parts.
POP....and it's getting old fast....

"Big Sur" is better only because this is so bad.

Can you say P-P-P-Power Pop?
I can say "p-p-p-power pop", but this is p-p-p-pablum pop. Once more, with feeling: Feh.

Uh, yeah. If you're going to make music this banal, it should at least mean something.
Feh. (I love saying that) This is treacle. Yeech.
Can you say P-P-P-Power Pop? Not that there's anything wrong with it. Anything at all.

Like many other songs on RP lately, I thought this song was okay the first couple of times, but now I've heard it far too much (seems like every other time I turn on RP). Ditto for Over the Rhine, Supergrass, Hem, and many others no doubt.
This is the reason God invented the Review Channel!

Heard this band first on the last Paste music sampler. Great band!
Yup this is great. I had to run over to the computer to see if Jellyfish had a new song. Nope, just a new band I'll look forward to hearing again. Thanks!
I LOVE this song! Clearly a Ben Folds influence here. Muy bueno!
Never heard of the Thrills until just now. Really like the sound. Can we have more. Please?

Toss in a heaping spoonful of Jellyfish and I think you have your match! Of course, they were all heavily influenced by the Beatles, so it's easy to see why they're similar. Considering I like all the afore-mentioned artists, I'm in heaven.
I like the "Oooh-wah-ooh" part. It reminds me of something else, from the 70s or something!

"Big Sur"'s better, but this'll do...
More Thrills, pls :)
