You take away the breath I was keeping for sunrise
You appear and the morning looks drab in my eyes
And then again I'll turn down love
Having seen you again
Once more you'll disappear
My morning put to shame

You take away the breath I was keeping for sunrise
You appear and the morning looks drab in my eyes
And then again I'll turn down love
Having seen you again
Once more you'll disappear
My morning put to shame

Sometimes I fear that this will go on my life through
Each day I spend in an echoed vision of you
And then again I'll turn down love
Remembering your smile
My every day is spent
Thinking of you all the while

The times I've let myself down
My head's spinning round
My eyes see only you
The chances I've lost
Opportunities tossed
Away and into the blue

You take away the breath I was keeping for sunrise
You appear and the morning looks drab in my eyes
And then again I'll turn down love
Having seen you again
Then again you'll disappear
My morning put to shame

Well, given that Townsend was actually a member of The Who from the very beginning, it would have been hard for him to not have had influence...

It's been a very long time since I've heard this, thought Flaming Lips did a cover of it.......till I looked.
Had to look, I was just going to say this sounds alot like The WHO........Doh!  You can hear Towsends influence from the very beginning. Nice.
Nice song for the first sunrise of 2011 at 7:24 am here on the southwest Florida coast.

What a pretty piece, sadly (and oddly) one I've never heard before.  Thanks, RP!

I'd be hard-pressed to choose between this album and "Live At Leeds" but there such different entities. Sell Out has gems like this and "Rael", "Our Love Was", and "I Can't Reach You" and there is nothing at all like them on LAL. And I like all of them better than "I Can See For Miles" as good as it is and despite the fact that it's what got me to buy the album in the first place back in 1967, one of the first albums I ever purchased (of interest now that I'm over 1000 beyond that). Not really fair to compare those two albums (so why did I, you may ask? My answer: I'm not sure I did. Ok, I guess I did, but you see what I mean).

The vocal is at such a high pitch and odd echo, at first — for a second— I didn't recognize Pete - and I own this album.

I'm thinking "this couldn't be any more like the Who unless it was.....oh yeah it is ."

An obscure, I suspect, Who gem. On par, in my mind, with "Our Love Was" and "Rael" from the same album. As timeless to me as anything the Who ever did.

I thought this was John Frusciante. Also, it sounds like it was recorded in a tile bathroom.

I think I heard this in an elevator once.
Wow, thanks for playing this!!
Boring, boring, BORING.

Ilove that Bill plays the old Who, Kinks, Stones, Beatles and other Brit acts. Music was so vibrant back then. Unbelievably cool. {#Clap}
Love, love, love this song.

brilliant transition from dcfc to the who...good stuff! :jump:
Just when you think you have heard it all-something I never knew existed. It sounded like The Who, so I had to check. Wow. Thanks again RP, there is always something new to listen to.

Can't believe I'm as old as I am and had to check to see who this was. Thanks for filling in a gap in my youth.
Love hearing this!

Oh my god. I am a lifelong Who fan and had completely forgotten about this LP and it's pre-Tommy sounds. And this haunting gem. RP rules !... unearthing the overlooked treasures of the Vinyl Rock Era.
If these lads keep up the good work they might accomplish something.
 How about a segue between this song and "Jefferson Airplane - Comin' Back to Me". EDIT: Looking at the paucity of the comments AND the ratings, I get the impression that Bill plays this track about two or three times per YEAR at best!! :grumpy:
I've always loved the simplicity and splendour of the line 'You take away the breath I was saving for sunrise'. I first heard it when I was falling in love for the first time, and the song always hits home.
One of my favorite albums. I cannot recommend it enough. excellent selection, Bill.
what a great CD cover
I\'ve never heard this before. Very
Pete Rules!!!! And cleared of the latest charges
WhoFan and audiozeb: happy boys today, yes? Cool song. :bounce:
