Come on Eileen
Come on Eileen

Poor old Johnnie Ray
Sounded sad upon the radio
But he moved a million hearts in mono
Our mothers cried
Sang along
Who'd blame them?

You've grown (you're grown up)
So grown (so grown up).
Now I must say more than ever

Come on Eileen

Too-ra-loo-ra, too-ra-loo-rye, aye
And we can sing just like our fathers

Come on Eileen
Oh, I swear (what he means)
At this moment you mean everything
You in that dress
My thoughts I confess
Verge on dirty
Oh, come on Eileen

Come on Eileen

These people 'round here
Wear beaten-down eyes sunk in smoke-dried faces
They're so resigned to what their fate is

But not us (no, never)
No, not us (no, never)
We are far too young and clever
Remember

Too-ra-loo-ra, too-ra-loo-rye, aye
Eileen I'll hum this tune forever

Come on Eileen
Oh, I swear what (what he means)
Ah, come on let's take off everything
Pretty red dress
Eileen (tell him yes)
Ah, come on let's
Ah, come on Eileen

Pretty red dress
Eileen (tell him yes)
Ah, come on let's
Ah, come on Eileen, please

Come on Eileen, too-loo-rye-aye
Come on Eileen, too-loo-rye-aye
Now you're all grown
Now you have shown
Oh, Eileen

Say, come on Eileen
These things they are real
And I know how you feel
Now I must say more than ever
Things 'round here have changed

I say, too-ra-loo-ra, too-ra-loo-rye-aye

Come on Eileen
Oh, I swear (what he means)
At this moment you mean everything
You in that dress,
My thoughts I confess
Verge on dirty
Ah, come on Eileen

Ah, come on Eileen
Oh, I swear (what he means)
At this moment you mean everything
You in that dress,
My thoughts I confess
Well, they're dirty
Come on Eileen

My wife and I LOVE this song.  It brings back fond memories or our party years right after we were married.  Bombing around in my 1980 Mazda RX7 - the gas pedal always got closer to the floorboards when we played this song!
Love this so much, and I have since the first time I heard it.

It's okay, Bill, we see what you are doing here.

Yeah they are a Gino Washington rip off band. I came here to escape Radio 2 too!

Don't forget "There There My Dear"...
Married a girl named Eileen  (and she's the rare GenX "Eileen") so this gets a 10 from me.  Also turned the stereo to 11 (except it isn't really a stereo).

I am struggling to think of a song which makes me vomit as speedily as this one.

A song I keep wanting to not like for some irrational reason... but it's too damn catchy.
Always good to hear a meddly of their greatest hit.

I'm with you, except being married to an Eileen means it's a +1...yeah...this is a 10 for reasons other than it's a great song....LLRP indeed!!
I guess I like it. Was fun when it came out of course. But now, if the local radio station has an "80's Weekend" (on the odd occasion where I listen to regular radio anymore, that is) they tend to play this one over and over and over. Not the song that defines the 80's for me but...still good though.
sounded great to my 7 year old ears, growing up in Jersey.
Peak MTV.
Well .......... if I lived in the UK, or maybe Boston ........ but I don't.

OhgodpleaseNOO! I had to grow/throw up in the 80's listening to this overrated piece of crap on nonstop heavy roation.

Dear Bill, for the love of all things holy, stomp on this figurative record, break it in virtual pieces, light them on spiritual fire, throw the burning pieces out your proverbial window and train your hopefully real dog to put the conceptual fire out the best way a pooch can.
Home, office, wherever. This one never fails to deliver an extra little zippy step to your 3 to 4:04 minutes of pure pop.
Always wondered why Dexys were not played more on RP.
Can't really use the excuse they were played to death on FM radio....

Haven't heard this in an age.  Love it!  Thanks, Bill!  {#Dancingbanana}
Oh, I do love this song! I used to dance to this back in the fab 80s....

and the fashion of  wearing those trousers without anything underneath...LOL!!!

Don't see what all the whining is about. It's no platinum winner, but its good pure fun. =) Bill, please put it in rotation again.
A one hit wonder that makes me wonder how it became a hit to begin with.

me too
I have a friend that does this song at Karaoke spot on- good times
I don't mind listening to that when I'm drunk, but I'm here in the office, so you see the problem, by the time I find some booze  and get in the right state
the song will be over.
So basically Bill, can you give us some notice for this kind of song?
Or maybe you could play it every Friday evening at 11:30 British time (that's when we come back home pissed after the pubs have closed).
Trying to figure out what time it will be in California but I'm starting to be tipsy... Come on Eileeeeen...

True story. I sit in my office and all day one cool song after another plays on RP. No one else hears it. Then this POS comes on just when my boss walks in. It's not that he minds me listening; it's just that now he thinks this is the kind of crap I like. Bill, please, be careful - don't make me look bad.
Have to agree - I was tempted to turn it down incase anyone heard it through the walls.... 8O
This is NO genious but is fun ... deserves a 7 easy .... now 1 or 10 (?) OScar
Oooh... music snobbery rears its ugly head again.

Oh, come on. This is fun! Not saying I'm dashing out to buy the CD, or that I'd want to hear this more than once in blue moon, but it's a fair bit o' flashback fun for those of us who grew up in the Eighties.
i grew up in the eighties, too, and that's no reason to hear this absolute crap ever again. especially here!

Anyone notice how 'Dexy' looks like David Spade on that cover? edit--- Can you say "NO"? 7 actually.
Trottin' out some old stuff! Good on you, Bill.

Well, I did the eighties...this was painful then.
Some hits have legs. Some don't...
Uhm....Bill? Between you and me, this band really needs to stay dead, if you catch my drift... I have only two Sucko-Barfo ratings with RP...this is one of them.

this is absolute crap. i'm tuning out for a while. the only thing worse than their music was their schtick.
It's an ok song if you're in the mood for it....but it's not what I'm looking for when I come to radioparadise. Not sure what that means about how I should rate it....I'll wait for advice. Waiting....
