Excellent flick, just don't get bent out of shape about the social message.
Exactly. The spirit of the message is sound, but Fincher's attempts to exemplify the ideas through his screenplay come off very heavy handed. That said, it is an excellent flick mainly because it is pure cinema. Film snob sermon now over.
An excellent song from and excellent soundtrack from an excellent movie. "All the ways you wish you could be, that's me. I look like you wanna look, I fuck like you wanna fuck, I am smart, capable, and most importantly, I am free in all the ways that you are not." Chuck Palahniuk and Jim Uhls are very talented writers.
I am my broad band connection... I am my Radio Paradise... I am my iPod... (... and this song is a big fat pretentious bulls**t "1".) We all need beauty and distractions to get us through life. And often these same "materialistic" objects and pursuits further our ability to connect with others and do good in this life. jk
it is like waking up with someone shaking your shoulders...you are in shock but you are also awake...

I think this would pair up well with the "Sunscreen" song. :)

A white man's Michael Franti? Very plaid.
I am my khakis.

I think its appropriation of the well-known refrains of Fight Club are not meant to be depressing or embittering, or not embittering in the manner of apathy, but meant to be inspiring, revolutionary, anarchically energizing. Look around you and acknowledge the bitter weight of all that is crappy and meaningless about human society, and fight for the capacity to connect deeply with other people and your own world, to seize life and living authentically. That sort of thing.

I say, deliver me from this crap.
Stupid, individualist retake on "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." Bleah.
Very Zen! I dig it! :nodhead:

Deliver me from Swedish furniture?? WTF is that all about? :-s
I think the line, "You are not your fucking khakis" pretty much spells it out. Unless, of course, you are.
"You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake You are the same decaying organic matter as everything else We are all part of the same compost heap We are the all singing, all dancing, crap of the world" Bloody brilliant. I am Jack's smirking revenge.
8O ..... :-k ..... ...... :nodhead:
extremely neat movie...

You kinda have to see the movie (Fight Club). The quote "self-improvement is masturbation" sums up the movie pretty well. The furniture in particular was a reference to the main character, who defined himself by his belongings, like his Ikea furniture and hand-blown glassware. Damn, I'm gonna have to watch that movie again tonight. Excellent flick, just don't get bent out of shape about the social message.
OK OK! I'll drink the kool-aid-!!!

Isn't it good, Norweigian wood?

I usually don't like this type of stuff, but this one's great. The fact it's from fight club makes it even better :D
Deliver me from Swedish furniture. Brilliant. This is inspirational, ironic nihilism.
An excellent example of inspirational nihilism. Embrace the nothing, so that you can be anything you desire. Truly uplifting even if it drags you through the shadows along the way.

I couldn't fail to disagree with you even more than that! Irony is dead! Long live Irony!

Merry F***in' Christmas! Bill, could you play this on my birthday?
One of the best lines from a great film, no doubt about it!
Would be better if Dennis Leary did it!
so cheery.
"...the revolution will NOT be televised..." or, um... "Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television. Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit crushing game shows, stuffing junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose a future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?"
I think this would pair up well with the \"Sunscreen\" song. :)
Not bad! Check out the group CONSOLIDATED if this is your cup of tea. Also books by author Chuck Palahniuk. Thanks Bill for playing some soundtrack music. It's the wave of the future folks.;)

Whoa. Put that song on a mug and call it inspirational. I guess you had to see the movie to really appreciate the song, \'cause I didn\'t, and I don\'t. But it sure beats Christina Aguilera any day, so I do appreciate your intent, Bill. Thanks for keeping things different....
\"You have to give up . . . \" \"You are part of the same decaying animal matter as everyone else\" and other suicide-promoting dicta . . . How nice for folks to hear early in the morning. Especially for the depressed . . . The thoughts are interestingly mixed up, but this fare is really too strong for so early in the morning. Please spare us till we have had some coffee and a couple of meals. Although we shouldn\'t be so decadent that we actually get to have that many meals, I realize. Well, if we can\'t flagellate ourselves enough, I guess we can count on the Dust Brothers to help us out!
At first I thought, \"what the Hell is this\"; then I started to listen closely. I\'m with those who don\'t mind it once in a very long while
I am Jack\'s complete lack of suprise. Great soundtrack to a great movie.
Well, that was...something. At least we\'re not going to hear it on Muzak at the mall anytime soon. :)
Well, wasn\'t that cheery...
No no no no no more of this
Cool. he is clapping because he has hands.
I love this MOVIE and I LOVE THIS SONG!!! WHOO HOO!!! Brad Pitt...grrrrrrrowl!!!!!!
I ***LOVE*** this! Anyone who thinks this is crap can\'t know much about what life is really about -- and what it isn\'t. Don\'t play it more than once a month or so, but oh yeah, I wanna hear it again some time!

Boy, that was happiness in a song, wasn\'t it? Bleh, I think I\'ll go get an ice cream so I can remember there\'s something good in this life....
What the hell is this crap? Not a real motivating song for the first thing on a Thursday morning. If I didn\'t hear this again, that would be fine.
