Freefall off the mountain freefall into space
The world spins by as I fly off into another state
Why - do we crash into the blue?
Why - does a high never last into the blue?
All you have to blame it on is gravity
In you, in me, in me

I dreamed I was a satellite
Doing circles 'round the earth
I woke to find myself entwined in a blanket of dirt
Why - do we crash into the blue?
Why - does a high never last into the blue?
All you have to blame it on is gravity in you,
I have a lot of gravity in me
All you have to blame it on is gravity in you,
I have a lot of gravity in me

Mayday I'm comin down
Mayday I'm gonna crash
I wake in bed in a cold sweat
And think of all these prayers I should have asked
Why - do we crash into the blue?
Why - does a high never last into the blue?

All you have to blame it on is gravity
In you, I have a lot of gravity in me
All you have to blame it on is gravity
In you, I have a lot of gravity in me

Not sure why...but I find this very annoying...in a 'Walking on Sunshine' kind of way.
The tractor on the cover looks much like an early Allis-Chalmers.  We had a couple AC's when my family still had their farm, the oldest was purchased used in the 50's I think and was at least 20 years old then.  The steel wheels were swapped out for rubber back when that was a new development, and an electric start added a few years later.

I remember one winter when I was little, that it was so cold that nothing started.  The power was out for miles in each direction and there was no sign that the weather was going to break.  At the time, we had a wood burning furnace as the sole source of heat, but when the power went out, the blowers for it went out too.  We had a fireplace that would warm us up a little, but the whole family still had to camp out in the living room as it was well below freezing anywhere else in the house.

None of the cars would so much as crank, and the only thing with an engine that my dad could get running was the old AC.  He pulled out the old crank, stuck it in the starter motor, and it fired up like it was a summer day.  I was always impressed by that, as I'm pretty sure that the tractor being able to power the generator via the power takeoff was about the only thing that kept the whole adventure from becoming a complete disaster.

Ok, redneck moment over.
I think it's time to vacuum the rug...

sort of sums it up for me :)

Nice jamming in this song.  I love it.  Great lyrics too!
This just makes me long for more Jimi.
Feels thrown together, like a dish made of leftovers from old meals. And then I doesn't end. Perhaps the cook was unable to be objective about their own food.

Gravity it the attraction between two bodies. If you need a further explanation, you're too young to be listening to RP.

Funny, that's one of the things that endears this tune to me.
I find it a pleasant "quirk".

This is one of the funniest comments I've read here in weeks...  Thanks, Ears_of_Stone! {#Roflol} I really like this song the more I hear it, but now I'm going to have the image of her, on her knees, praying to her burning sitar a la Jimi....

It's not even dissonance, really. There are no major or minor seconds or such like. I think what the original poster was affected by is the whiny or tinny tone of the sitars. Personally, I am diggin' it totally.

'tis very nice.

what goes up must come down——Gravity.
(caught all the words this time, then read them—-really good.)

good ol Austin girl
...reminiscent of milla jovovich...
John Inmon on sitar. Album was produced by Lloyd Maines who plays steel pedal and acoustic as well. Natalie (Dixie Chicks) is his daughter.

Terri is a warm and personable performer who appreciates her audiences as much as they appreciate her..

No, it appears that the wires got crossed somewhere, and a bunch of irrelevant YLT comments got dumped into this Terri Hendrix - Gravity thread.

This caught me right away. she's playful and experimental, I like that in an artist. Fun.

I do not believe any other band has ever covered this.

Unusual and very cool song.  If I was a musician I would cover this in an instant.
Thanks for the explanation but we got it without the brackets explanation. Promised!

Yea, put some autotune on it, that'll make it better.  Look what it's done to tpain.
I like Terri Hendrix... I bought her latest and it was in heavy rotation on my iPod for quite a while.

Her voice annoys.

BBC's Top Gear used the generic term is "MyFace", which is great for their usual juvenile innuendo's.

Edit: when I clicked "submit", the song had changed to Wilco - You Are My Face.{#Smile}

as a rule gravity is a lot cruler to women than men{#Tongue}
Didn't like it at first, but that sitar (?) just sucked me right in ...
Why was there so much chatter about Yo La Tengo in these comments (I realize it was a while back, but still) - this is not YLT, nor was it written by anyone in YLT.  Terri's very cool - I used to go to her shows all the time when I lived in San Antonio.  She's a real sweetie, too - very much appreciates her fans (and she's playing at ACL Fest this October).

Shouldn't there be some kind of alternative universe where Yo La Tengo are like the Gods Of Radio?
One of the songs that got me hooked on Yo La Tengo when I first started listening to RP. And I have not let go ever since.
Nice Sunday afternoon playlist.
Still a favorite after 4 years. Godlike....
Nope, not grabbing me. One more . . . and time for bed. Send me off smiling, please.

I saw YLT sorta by accident while visiting Dublin. What a great show! Mesmerizing. ¡Fue una gran exposición! ¡Vivo el Tengo!
This station plays quite a lot of World music (even though these guys are locals) Get over yourself

Take 69 Tylenol and call me in the morning
I like this song fine, but there are better YLT songs. . . "My Little Corner of the World", for example (I can't help that they whored it out to some tv show) is an awesome tune.
Greetings, I thought of Timbuk 3 when I heard this... Neil

good word, pilloried. I like the song they play for "Junebug".
Nice song but not as good as their cover of The Beach Boy's "Farmer's Daughter."
love it. the more YLT the better.

How appropriate for the January we're having...summer just starting up.
Perfectly synched. Exemplary playing and harmonizing all around.
Great Band, Great Album, Great Band In Concert, Great People To Talk To After A Show.

I've seen Terri several times in small shows, first in Texas , where she's based, and more recently in Colorado. She works and tours with Lloyd Maines, an amazing guitar/steel guitar/dobro etc. player who has worked with everyone in Texas music. Terri's songwriting is fun and meaningful and the show that she and Lloyd put on is a blast. I wouldn't say this is one of her best songs. It's ok, but she's got a few that send shivers up my spine. Glad to here her on RP!
I have also attended a "house concert" with Terri and Lloyd. Lloyd is an amazing musician, and the father of Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks. I believe he is part of their band. (Whoops, I see where someone has made this point earlier.) I also agree that this is not one of Terri's best, but she does have some really poignant ones that she does in concert.
No relation to Jimmi

I'm a sucker for the sitar- cool production.
I have lots of gravity in me? What? I like the eastern influence but not very impressive

Trivial factoid: Lloyd Maines is the father of Natalie Maines, of the Dixie Chicks. Lloyd is one hell of a talent. This isn't one of Terri's best, but it's great to hear from the San Marcos, TX contingent on RP...

ugh. ditto. all her songs are the same: weak, overstressed vocals, poorly conceived lyrics, and boring melodies.
sounds just like Milla Jovovich (yum)
The opening makes me think of Gordon Lightfoot's "Sundown". Anybody have that one to upload? Decent tune.
