The sea it swells like a sore head
And the night, it is aching
Two lovers lie with no sheets on their bed
And the day it is breaking

On rainy days we'd go swimming out
On rainy days, swimming in the sound
On rainy days we'd go swimming out

You're in my mind
All of the time
I know that's not enough
If the sky can crack
There must be some way back
For love and only love

Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Baby don't cry

Car alarm
Won't let you back to sleep
You're kept awake
Dreaming someone else's dream
Coffee is cold
But it'll get you through
Compromise
That's nothing new to you

Let's see colors that have never been seen
Let's go to places no one else has been

In my mind
All of the time
I know that's not enough
Well if the sky can crack
There must be some way back
To love and only love

Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Baby don't cry

It's hot as hell
Honey, in this room
Sure hope the weather will break soon
The air is heavy, heavy as a truck
Need the rain will wash away our bad luck

Well if the sky can crack
There must be some way back
To love and only love

Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Electrical storm

Baby don't cry
Baby don't cry
Oh baby don't cry
Oh baby don't cry

an occasional odd or clunky metaphor but the lyrics are better than most after so many albums...
Why don’t we all be quiet and enjoy the music? 😏
I won't be convinced this 'U2

Written when they were in their early 40s. How many artist do you really see pushing themselves for a new sound in their 40s or later? I'll wait

And let William Orbit Re-Mix their songs, like all bands have obviously already done to death right?

Always love it when they miss the point.  Having a unique and enduring sound and not pushing the boundaries of that sound (which they have continued to do up to the present day) are 2 entirely different things.  But go ahead with the tired and vapid "U2 sucks and every song sounds the same" trope.  You'll certainly find many who share your unoriginal and ageist opinion on these boards.

I prefer original version with grand guitar ending.
This is pretty bad.
this is great. Bono's voice sounds great. this live....a magical experience. πŸ‹

Not U2's biggest fan, though the older work is good...but this one just takes me back to a time in my life that I both wish I could have back, and be able to forget.
This one does it for me - 8
There's some William Orbit in it.
So thankful for PSD  {#Stop}
U2 = PSD

An electric toaster is certainly a worthy appliance to write a song about; apparently no one has done it yet.  That could be my ticket to fame.
bozo has truly lost it!

I keep mis-hearing it as 'Electric Toaster'.

That said, it's not PSD material for me. Not amazing, but I hope it comes up in circulation again. Maybe it'll grow on me.

At some point in time U2 stopped making new music and are just reusing old stuff.

So what do you think of Coldplay and Radiohead?
This one always brings the house down at their shows. Sorry U2 haters, but U2's stamp on rock and popular music is indelible.  Hate them if you must, but stop trying to belittle their influence. You're beginning to sound like climate-change deniers.
Some of their stuff is overplayed.  But, this is one is still a "turn it up" stand out.
Incredibly bored by U2. Wish I didn't hear so much of this band here.

It's unreal fun to read this )))) 9.
My favorite version. RP is the only place I've heard it.

Amen — Two fantastic 90s songs from this still great band.  Don't get the haters that think anything post Achtung is crapola.

You could follow this up with Ms. Sarajavo and you'd have probably the two best and least known U2 songs of the last 20 years.
I have an electric coaster.  It's keeping my coffee warm right now.  It's great but I'm not sure I would sing about it.

Oh, wait, nevermind...

this is the REASON to purchase this BEST OF...
Love it!

I'm wondering where William Orbit is. After producing Madonna's Ray of Light (which was amazingly excellent), he was very popular for a little while, but then his signature sound somehow disappeared... PITY! He improves on the U2 song by about a factor four :-)

This year he produced Katie Melua's album "The House" from which 'The Flood' gets airplay on RP.

Love William Orbit's stuff (nice website too, with a very tasty fish on the home page :o), can't be doing with St Bonio. Mix yer man's voice off this and it would be a decent instrumental.

I'm not a U2 fan but when I heard this song I thought how great that you're playing it. RP rules.

No comments on wether i like U2 or not.
I agree with the averege measurement. Somewhere between 7 and 8.
It's a good one. Enjoy it.
This song always makes me feel warm. It feels like a heat wave, which is nice when it's cold in New England.
For me, the big attraction ended with Rattle and Hum. I've only REALLY liked a couple of songs since then.

I don't necessarily LOVE it, but it's better than much of what U2 has put out over the last several years.
I swear I thought he was singing "Electric Gustav"...

Don't totally disagree... I'd rather not hear them on RP either.

I don't usually hear U2, but this song is just great.

another listener who can officially be put in the "bono overload" category {#Razz}

Arrogant as Bono may be, this group has a lot of staying power.

I like this version. go figure.
Not a morning song.
Wait.. Bill. .. Did you just say that you don't find this song by U2 a little bit too lame?

And here I almost donated some money. =)

I don't understand all this U2 bashing. Bands evolve and change. Yes, their sound has changed. But is that so bad? Evolution is good. And yes, before I get jumped on, I am aware of U2's entire collection. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb is obviously nothing like War or the Joshua Tree, but why should it be? Artists are creative, and the best of them are constantly reinventing themselves.

hear hear
Imagine if The Beatles stayed in the Love Me Do period. Music is alive.

God this is a great song.
I am not an all-knowing U2 fan, but this is the best of them to me, sorry. One day I will pay more attention to U2. I am sure they have more to give.
Orbit is great. He could have had a bigger influence on the mix...
Still these guys are one of the best bands EVER Just love this!

I _like_ the idea of broad appeal. Not everybody wants to listen to the Gates of Delerium on Yes' Relayer album, or Anathesize on Porcupine's Fear of a Blank Planet.
It's "broad appeal" music that makes tunes like Gates of Delerium and Anaesthesize so powerful. There will always be a mainstream and things that classify as such will always evolve (even when RIAA fat cats try to prevent it) and there's nothing wrong with enjoying mainstream. I think the arguments with U2 are that as they've grown in popularity/become more "mainstream", they haven't tried to evolve - at least not recently. Based on what I've read and heard, they're perfectly happy floating on the mainstream music bubble and spending their real passion on other things. With all of that said, I actually dig this song. :)

Know what you mean. Not sure what happened. Too much U2, everywhere. Even here. Bono on his worldly crusades. Saturation.

Yes, I re-posted this because I tend to agree.

I've heard this set recently. So much so that I knew that U2 was coming right after "Madrugada - Hard To Come Back". Maybe if I hear it again soon I'll remember which U2 song is going to be played. Edit: It was January 30 when this set was last played.
They really lost their way...such a shame
Yea baby...Perfect timing...Thank you RP...
What a glossy tune! I 'member when they put out good humble stuff
duality2099, I cannot agree. Don't own any U2, and am unlikely to buy. That said, the song writing and production are superb. And I enjoy the music! I _like_ the idea of broad appeal. I completely agree. I saw the "Pop" tour, and it was ok. But the intensity of Joshua Tree and Unforgettable Fire were worlds away from more recent work.
The best of this group is still the worst that can happen to us
Wow, they really sound like U2! Sorry, had to say that after all the times I've read it for other artists. Nice tune.
Very nice blend.

The GH album is a double with a B-sides disk, and this song is with the b-sides. A lot of the b-sides are actually very good, so the disk is worth it.
great song. one of the stronger efforts from u2 of late. you can\'t compare it with anything from achtung, but maybe that\'s just because that album was one of the first things i really listened to in junior high, and don\'t have to apologize for.
