what what what what what did you think you were doing?
how how how how how did you think this would go?
when when when when when you showed up on my radar
where where where where where did you think you would show?
what what what what what do you make of this station
how how how how how it pulls away from the train?
when when when when when if at all will you realize
where where where where where do and done are the same?
what what what what what now you're out in the open
how how how how how do you think you can hide?
when when when when when will you find some nice soft sand
where where where where where you can bury your pride?
what what what what what do you want from this lifetime?
how how how how how does your story line flow?
when when when when when you finally get to the punch line
where where where where where will the applause sign go?

and why why why why why don't you just take your bow
cuz who's gonna love you now?

All you haters should check yourselves! She writes music, not just little “ditty’s”. Her lyrics actually say something- and her melodies, like other great composers transport the listener out of their paradigm. 99% of music played today is made to just rattle around in empty heads! (which I also like a lot of ‘cause my coconut is mostly hollow...8-< )

god forbid the woman should evolve. as far as i'm concerned, i'd love to hear more of this song and this album -- great, funky, jazzy stuff.

Agreed. :tapedshut:
Generally not a big Ani fan, but really like this one. More, please.
is the mp3 skipping!?!?!?!
Wa wa wa wa what is this? Some of Ani's stuff is OK, but she mi mi mi missed on this one.
I love much of Ani's work. I can't believe this is the same woman.
This is the very first time I've heard this song. I thought it was okay until about two miuntes in when I began to strongly dislike it. Brevity here would have done this song a lot of good. I wouldn't want to hear it very often at all. I'll probably be checking out the LRC if I hear it again.
This is just great! I used to think of Ani Di Franco as OK, but hearing this I have to assume another position. This is pretty original and funky versus her more down tempo material. IÂ'm lovinÂ'it!
I ordinarily love Ani's work but this sounds like a collision of Kate Bush and Laurie Anderson(2 other artists I also greatly admire). Maybe if the vocal was removed....,
well I guess you gotta have those ones you really can't stand to appreciate the ones you like!

Do any of my RP comrades out there have any suggestions as to where I should start looking into this woman's catalog?
Normally I would suggest a first time Ani listener pick up her double live album Living In Clip but if you are really digging this song I think you should get this particular album (Revelling/Reckoning) just because it really has a wide range of songs on it from her trademark angsty to very well thought out and articulated commentaries on current social and political issues. She's really a fantastic artist. Chances are if you hear 10 songs you dislike there are another 150 songs out of her catalog you will love.
Love this tune. An original, funky, jazzy groove. Bopping in my cube with 'phones on! <...thanks RP for turning my on to Ani - heard of her before but never really checked her out until hearing her here>
Is this song going ANYWHERE except down the drain?
Too much going on for me...
Quack Quack Quack Quack It's the duck song! (ick)
I like Ani's music, but on this one I would like you to m-m-m-m-make it stop!
Why why why why why does RP keep playing her? What what what what what will it take to make them stop? How how how how how can anyone stand it? When when when when when will she discover melody? Where where where where where can I express my displeasure?
Grooving with originality...thumbs up from me...
wha wha wha wha why am I listening to this dreck?
Over the years I've heard and read all the raves about this artist but never really gave her a listen. This is a really cool little jam. I don't know...I guess I was expecting another angry angst ridden singer/songwriter which was the trend at the time she surfaced. I'm happy to admit that I've been narrow-minded and have perhaps missed a talent that I should have been paying some attention to. Do any of my RP comrades out there have any suggestions as to where I should start looking into this woman's catalog?
