I called you after midnight
Then ran until I burst
I passed the howling woman
And stood outside your door
We walked around a lake
And woke up in the rain
And everyone turned over
Troubled in their dreams again
Visiting time is over
And so we walk away
We both play dead, then cry out loud
Why we always cry this way?
I kissed you in the water
And made your dry lips sing
I saw you look like a Japanese baby
In an instant I remembered everything
Everything
Everything
Everything
I called you after midnight
Then ran until my heart burst
I passed the howling woman
And stood outside your door
I kissed you in the water
And made your dry lips sing
I saw you look like a Japanese baby
In an instant I remembered everything
Everything

Sacrilege. Surrealist beauty sacrificed...and for what?
Great song ruined...
Great song, and even greater gallery of haircuts / hairdos ...
My first Cure concert was in 2005 in Hungary at Szegedi Ifjusagi Napok. I remember that it was a small festival and they did the soundcheck during the day. It was amazing, maybe even better than the concert itself. They played for about 2 hours just casually jamming + some songs. Also they came to us, and there was only about 100 people. Simon signed my 200 forint note.
Remixes are great if you're in a club dancing I reckon. Would much rather hear the original personally, but I suppose there are those out there that really enjoy this.
this mix of the song is fantastic!
Neil66 - brill connection to New Order! I share your pov but now that I have the New Order idea in my head, I like this a lot more!!

Yeah, the latter half of this sounds like it could have easily been on that soundtrack.

Rhythm section although digital for both drums, bass and hand claps is well produced, mixed and recorded. Booty shake worthy for all y'all party people.
Prefer the original, rather than this new order mix...
LOVE me Robert Smith...
After 40+ years, still 100% unique and absolutely incredible!

Kind of sounds like New Order's Blue Monday
LOVE THE CURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm 52 years old now and a lifelong fan of The Cure. I despise every single remix that was made on this LP. But then that's just my opinion :-)

I like this a lot, but prefer the original.
I really like the Mixed Up versions - they are just more 'Cured'
Excellent!

I always liked this track off of MIXED UP, since it was one of two ("A Forest" being the other) that had to be re-recorded since the master tapes weren't available. It's got a great groove while staying faithful to the original. If you like this stuff, check out TORN DOWN: MIXED UP EXTRAS which they released in 2018.

8 for this. Would have been 10 for the original. Never really liked the mixed up album.
I was never into the Cure as a schoolkid but was utterly obsessed with Talking Heads. I've eased off a bit on the latter but learning to appreciate Smith et al. a bit more as I age.

I saw Cure 2 times in 86 Fréjus Antic Roman Arena ( dusty ground makes big fog and 87 in Marseille-France (indoor, weedy fog ) they were absolutly phenomenal, still now I play cure very loud and we pogo all over the house!
I like how they actually sampled the howling woman for this remix....
Love me some Cure, just when I needed it.
Axel F
Sounds like Robert Smith backed by New Order. I'd have sworn the opening bass riff was Peter Hook.

Love this mix of The Walk, grittier and very Modey without losing the feel of the original
very good
Should've called this one "Master and Servant Mix".
As avid Cure fan - this is alright - nowhere near as good as the original. There are definitely better remixes on this album as Bill often shares....!

I'm not crazy about remixes...but this one was pretty cool.
Just cannot stand the Cure. Not a hater, just not my cup of meat.

Would have been 10 but for some reason the Mixed Up album which dragged so many songs from brilliance back to ordinary or even poor seems to be far more popular than proper cure...well at least the last 3 tracks i've heard here by them have come from it.

Product differentiation. The original is much better - this seems like a cheap plastic Japanese (whisper of a) copy.

I agree but ONLY about this All Mixed Up release. This had to be from the mid-to-late '80s, right? Otherwise, The Cure are a solid (talented) act. I saw their show in Tampa in the summer of 2008 and was very positively impressed by their 3-hour show.
I do not AT ALL share Bill´s love for this band!

Don't know that I'm in the know about all the mix mixup stuff, good, because this song moves my spirit in a positive direction. Find myself knocking my head sideways like that NIght at the Roxbury's tune Don't Hurt Me?
I do not AT ALL share Bill´s love for this band!
Dang, what does that guitar riff come from? Something recent, I think. Something we've heard on RP. How old is this remix?
ETA: It looks like this has been out since 1990, so the riff must have been appropriated by the new song, rather than the other way around...

Great extended mix! This is uber sweet!
This sucky band is the only reason I turn the volume down while listening to RP. Electronic crap being "sung" by someone who sings worse than my dog.
This guy always sounds as if he's on the verge of crying. I love the "I passed the howling woman" bit in this song - it's always mystified me what it refers to, but very evocative.
Sweet!

I recall hurling myself around the union to Cure songs, and can imagine meself doing so to this...although after 16 years....no, I'd still fancy a good hurl). n.b. "union" refers,in the UK, to premises in a college or university run by the Student Union, or the democratically organised entertainment, sporting, leisure and drinking services provided by students for students in a surprisingly well organised fashion.
I love the cure, but I prefere original versions
Aaaah, modern rock... Another reason I LOVE RP!

not a bad remix. but then, I was never attached to the original.

most of the mix versions of Cure songs are weaker than the originals, this one included
