I guess I need to weigh in to balance the North Carolina scale with my Wakey(?) neighbor in Winston-Salem..."The Fuse" doesn't do much for me either, but you've got to be kidding that you didn't think that Springsteen was a democrat. Maybe you need to switch from rock'n'roll to Sousa marches if you only want to hear republicans...except maybe Ted Nugent. Heck even Jesse Helms likes Bono.
what a waste of bandwidth. Warn me next time and i\'ll find something better to do. Just plain bad
Yes, I think the album is a little forced. But, if you read the stories of the victims - the number of times Bruce was mentioned, quoted, etc. in their eulogies, it\'s pretty obvious that the man has a significant influence on people. Seeing this, he felt that he had to respond - he had to try to express the fear, pain, healing and hope that the country is feeling. Whether he suceeded or not is a very personal reaction. But you gotta give the guy props for trying.

You're drunk, man. Lie down!

Pretentious, like so much of Bruce\'s stuff. The pause to dead silence then \"Your bittersweet taste on my tongue\" totally ruins the song for me. It\'s just blatant sexual shockery. Falls just short of \"Who am I to ask you to lick my sword.\" Oh, please! Don\'t get me wrong, I have a very appreciative side for Springsteen. But with me, it\'s on a song by song basis. Has been that way from the very start.
Listen - I served my country for 6 years, got shot at, crawled in the mud, slept in the snow, and blew out both my knees jumping out of airplanes. Bruce has nothing to do with loving my country. But he has a lot to do with crappy music. I love America, even if I hate a lot of things it does. Going to war because \"my daddy didn\'t get the bad guy last time\" or because \"the economy sux and my political buddies are hurting\" is wrong. But Bruces music is still mediocre at best.

Can I just say here, as a random European, that "unpatriotic" does not strike me as something that I care much about? Sometimes it scares me a bit how people from the USA seem to take words like "patriotic" VERY seriously. And not just since 9/11.

Great - we've got one f**kwit calling Bruce a Democrat (like it's the worst thing he could be), and another implying he's a Fascist (without being able to spell a 7 letter word). He must be doing something right! These people wouldn't have connected to a radio station if they couldn't hear, so we can only conclude that it's thinking they have problems with.
Springsteen and the E street band absolutely don't disappoint me with this new album, but maybe they should follow Bob Dylan's example (again!), who forgot about trying to be (too) trendy and just made some very well produced albums recently, which, ironically, made him kinda popular again.

Liked his old stuff - with the E street band. Some people just don\'t know when to quit....
His vocals have gotten so flat. Not to mention that this song reeks. Yes, reeks.

No but Bruce too-often gets a pass (but not by me) because he's "Da Boss." The point is that, had anyone else released this song, it would have been seen for what it is -- incredibly mediocre. But, because it's new from Bruce, everyone makes it out to be almost unpatriotic to knock it.
Each time I hear this, I hate it more. I\'ve just lowered my rating from 2 to 1.
Really, it\'s excellent. Give it another listen or three :)
Yaaaawwwnnnn. Bruce who?
errr... and because it *is* Bruce, it\'s automatically good?
Over-wrought and over-produced. Sorry guys......if this wasn\'t Bruce, this would be really mediocre.
