The gentleman caller in the blue suede shoes,
He don't know what to do,
He just wants to look good for you,
So he rushes in to tell you what he did today,
But he can't think of what to say,
I think you listen anyway.

He wants to have a good time,
Just like everybody,
He doesn't want to fall apart.

You watch him as he stutters over what to say,
It's just a little game you play,
It's no easier for you some days,
You wish that you could tell him it'll be okay,
But you feel a little shy these days,
'Cause everybody goes away.

Oh, you just wanna have a good time,
Just like everybody else,
You don't want to fall apart this time.

I can look into your eyes and see the mess we're in,
Well darling, if it's shit came out,
Then I suppose that it's shit went in,
Even though I couldn't say,
I've been the places that you've been,
You know he made my heart real strong,
Even if he made my head real thin.

I wanna have a good time,
Just like everybody,
And I don't want to fall apart.

Oh I wanna have a good time,
Just like everybody else,
And I don't want to fall apart this time,
So would you please invite me in.

Oh, I really love the red haired girls,
I'm just another boy from Texas,
C'mon and take a spin,
Oh, I got a brand new set of wings.

Oh, I really love the red haired girls,
I'm just another boy from Texas,
C'mon and take a spin,
Hey, I gotta brand new set of wings.

Man I sure do love them red haired girls,
I'm just like all the boys from Texas,
C'mon take a spin,
Hey little girl I got a brand new set of wings.

dear god what crap
I would have to say I don\'t relish hearing more CC stuff on RP but I\'m enjoying this track.
not bad... but Big Yellow Taxi rocks..It's fueled by soul though.. so I find that those who just like straight forward hard guitar sounds or crybaby country don't like it.. Those that have soul know. Rock on CC! Great job! (pimp)
While I agree with most of the sentiments below regarding the melancholy nature of Counting Crows\' work, for some reason, I like the juxtaposition of the wah guitar and banjo. Nice audio engineering, IMHO.
QUIT PLAYING THIS BLOODY SONG.
:frustrated:
I always like songs by Counting Crows. Yes, most are a little melancholy but I still like them. But what do I know?
Love the banjo sound in this song!!!
Love the song. I could do without the Radio Paradise stream droppping out on me all the time though. Hey guys, (and gals,) check on your server!
not a bad song, but it\'s not going to make me run out and buy the album. Maybe download a couple songs...
yeah yeah, a lot of cc sounds whiny, but this ROCKS! come on...

It's also the same as all the other tracks. But as Bryce, I like it too. (I like the album as well, but usually feel to embarrassed to admit it) Do you think I need some kind of therapy?
me too :)

 This guy is a huge whiner. Who wants to hear whining to music? Not me.
As always when I hear Counting Crows latest dreck, I am set to wondering: is Adam Duritz the most repulsive thing in the universe, or just one of the most repulsive?
If you ever have a chance to see them Live, take it. Amazing concert this past weekend.
Good tune, really good tune.
I like it. I don\'t think I\'m supposed to like it. I like it. It is whiny. I like it. I really shouldn\'t like it. I like it. Damn.

Totally agree.
I love this song and this entire album. Good Time and Butterfly in Reverse are my new favorites I think, but that might change. I might see them at the end of October!!!! Maybe Adam will spot me in the crowd and all my dreams will come true...a girl can dream, can\'t she?
Annoying. I've yet to hear anything from the Counting Crowes that's not annoying.
NO! PLEASE stop. This song is SO bad! . :frustrated:

:( Shit came out.... shit went in. Same ole shit.... again. :(
This is the first CD I have bought for myself in a long time and I\'m really enjoying it. I have always like CC (I have bought CD\'s for my husband and kids, but never seem to pick one up just for myself :D ) Patti M. 8^)
Great song, great band. I\'m going to see them tonight, actually- if my friend finds my ticket. I sent him to get my ticket with a whole group of people, and everyone thinks everyone else has my ticket... (oh please oh please let somebody find it....) --Maria (not the one they sing about, but I can dream, can\'t I?)
Glad you like it, BigDog!
This is a most-excellent site..Just found rp yesterday thanks to Carrie from okieland....Good Job!!! :D  :D
OVERATED! Weak. :moon:
personally I can\'t stand counting crows...bad vocalist, uninteresting songs. they do seem to get a lot of airtime on radio paradise than I would prefer. I turn down the volume when they\'re on
the banjo is definitely counting crows style. great song, and album.
Not bad -- but give me almost anything from the first album (August and Everything After).
This song is definitely growing on me. It\'s their best stuff since Recovering the Satellites.
Banjo? Nice touch. Great to hear something fresh (and a little heavier) from the Counting Crows.
do you have to be an actress to be one of the girls Adam writes about?
I don't know if the wa-wa really helps... but the crows are really under-appreciated.. they are near the top of my list of 'thinking rock' in modern (top40) rock bands... well at least at this second
More whine and cheese...
I like this one...a lot! I heard it here on RP last Tuesday, and immediately went to download it from KaZaA. I have been noticing more & more \"red herrings\" put up on KaZaA (& imagine they are on other, similar sites). I downloaded what I thought was the same song I had just heard, but instead it was the same recycled instrumental beginning of the song (4 minutes of it). It actually sounded very cool, but I still had to keep searching for the real version. This seems to be happening a lot with newer music. The new Bruce, Sheryl Crow, Indigo Girls, just to name a few.
Wahoo, I like this one a lot better than the other two being played.

Yea, though it seems a bit out of place.
the more i hear this, the more i appreciate it.
Great counting crows. Refreshing. I hope we dont over play it.
The CD is called Hard Candy - not Rock Candy!  All in all, it\'s a pretty good disc. The secret song(Big Yellow Taxi), at the end of the disc is an excellent cover.
