How have you been
Caroline?
Living ok?
Home in PA.
See how the color left from our faces
From when, when we were younger.

Just yesterday I was making the reach.
Went for a swim in lover's beach,
And there I met friends and I neared the bay
Until I felt sick.

But you were my friend.
Don't you know how I needed you then.
I felt nervous when you shook and cried.
The circles under your eyes
Made love til you reached the clouds
Through the ceilings and walls that surround.

One time you drove through heat and hard rain
Three hundred miles in the roots of your pain.
Things get so far back in your mind
That we don't connect.

But you were my friend
At the turn of my life's events.
I felt weak in the hold of your soul
And your blood-red eyes even more.
But the feelings that stay with you now
Get lost over time somehow.

their track Song for a Blue Guitar is absolutely beautiful. i wish RP would play it.
Where's Bluto when you need him?

RHP did some incredible wonderful songs - unfortunately, this one is not among those.
Meh.  {#Rolleyes}
No thanks
I felt like I listened hard
Maybe not hard enough
Thought it was n drake, very nice
6:42 of torture.  When he got to the lyric of "your blood red eyes", I knew I would have to reach through the radio and throttle him to within an inch of his narcoleptic life.  Hell would be this song played over and over.
I'm not comparing this to anything else - just surfing the wave. And wow, what a great groove... I couldn't tell you what slipstream I'm on, but it's pretty good, so I think I'll just stay on it.... {#Sunny}
Please make it end.

Yup, it's like a double dose of extra-strong Dreamy Sleepy Nighty Snoozy-Snooze {#Sleep}

Nice, but enough slow stuff in a row....I'm falling asleep at my desk!  {#Sleep}

Great vibe.
Nice!
dull......  {#Sleep}

Niiiiiccceeee.
Peaceful & beautiful
mark kozelek...great voice!
Great band!
Get this guy some Lexapro and coffee....
Oh wow- this song brings back memories of the 90's.
...i hear hints of old his name is alive in this; nice...
Red House Painters following Nick Drake seems to be one of the the saddest sets I've ever heard.  Why not finish it up with "Season in the Sun?"  ;)

Nice vibe. I also like their "Have you forgotten" song.
Should by followed by David Gilmour's The Narrow Way from Pink Floyd's Ummagumma.
Serene and epic, love it.
Late at work, been staring at the screen all day, eyes swimming, relying on RP to keep me awake for these last bits of coding, and this number comes on. I feel sleepy, so sleepy, my eyelids are drooping, my vital functions slowing down, my head sagging, Morpheus awaits me with open arms, but I hit the mute just in time before the overwhelming soporiphicness (is there such a word?) puts me into a deep slumber. Truly this is the very definition of "ho-hum". A solid 3 from the Nottingham jury.
Very pretty song, until near the end and that screeching electric guitar came in.
Excellent tuning and playing. If I tried to do this, it would be all plunky and wonky toned. This is extremely difficult to make sound good. He makes it sound so easy.
Perhaps the most boring song ever made
Setting a perfect mood.
C'mon, let's get a bit more creative than Iron Maiden here. How about a good thumping Tom Waits number from after he lost his voice. Now that might tempt Bill G., though I myself am happy to follow this quiet little grove a while longer. dctrpunda wrote:
I would love it if just for once, Bill lulled us to this spot, (Enya, Nick Drake and now this guy) and then just shocked the bezeesus out of us with a little Iron Maiden or something of that sort! Is it just me? I'm been floating down this quite stream for few songs now and it's time for a rapid.
mumble drone mumble drone mumble
The lamest, boring singing of Nick Drake mixed with the worst impulses of Sigur Ros - absolutely horrible.

Red House Painters - Trailways Nick Drake - Clothes Of Sand Enya - Orinoco Flow Does this happen frequently? I love Red House Painters, but the lullaby set is killin' my energy levels. If only I still got to take naps at lunchtime...
Excellent segue into this from Nick Drake...perfect flow.

Ditto, on all counts :) I just recently bought 3 RHP CDs, I've only made my way through one of them... I just get lost in his voice.
This is a nice piece. I'm glad I heard it in the late night scenario though after a busy day. Edit-Sept 8, hearing it again, still think it is beautiful.
I've liked the Red House Painters since first hearing a track in the movie Vanilla Sky. Melancholy yet soothing
I find Mark's voice so unique, and mezmerizing. Instantly identifiable and most pleasing.

Had the same problem with the whole purple people eater thing, too.
I've always assumed that the People Eater was himself purple, because if he limited himself to only purple people he'd have starved to death in short order.
I think I'll go slit my wrists now.

Fits nicely behind Drake. It's not as good, but it's certainly nice. I'll remember this name.
Fits for me only in that it's the first time on RP I've rated consecutive songs as 1.

Oh, just wait. I feel a little Megadeth comin' our way.
very nice segue from Nick Drake's "Clothes of Sand"....RHP definitely show his influence in this one. Wonderful set...keep it up!

Yeah, somebody's been listening to our boy, but it's a tough act to follow.

My only question is are these red guys who paint houses or guys who paint only red houses or guys who only paint houses red? Really, now, could they be less clear? Had the same problem with the whole purple people eater thing, too.
When the song's uneventful, I turn to the comments.

mojoman, I like the way you think! love love RHP...probably wouldn't have heard of them but for RP...now I have lots of RHP goodness on my ipod. it's perfect music for a gray Pacific Northwest winter/spring (summer...fall)

it does...quite beautiful...

Startin' my workday off with RHP...brilliant! Thanks a million. This is an incredible CD, the covers of "Silly Love Songs", "Long Distance Runaround", and The Cars' "All Mixed Up" are wonderfully inventive. Anyone who likes this (and you have to dig Mark Kozolek's 'lazy' voice I would think) could start with this CD, or Old Ramon, or Ocean Beach.
pretty cool, haunting song but trying to listen to it while at work at the end of the day wasn't easy. A little to soothing for this time of day.

his name is Mark Kozelek
If you like this, try Sun Kil Moon. Same vocalist ( i forget his name )
Great stuff! Is it all like this?

Wow, the longer I listened to this song, the more I liked it! Haunting.
You can't just PLAY this without warning. I need a few minutes beforehand. To get ready and all.
That's RHP for you. Bleak and beautiful. Definitely have to be in the mood for it--but as far as covering this side of the emotional palet, they capture it completely. Although I adore Nick Drake, I think there is room for RHP too.
this song makes me want to slit my wrists and slowly bleed to death... in a good way.
More Robert Fripp influence -- a good thing.
This song has a great feel to it. I wish I knew about this song in High School! It's just like the stuff I loved back then... still do.
:headshake: Is it over yet?
Good to hear another RHP song on RP. If you add some Modest Mouse to the playlist along with a few more selections from Solomon Burke I will never listen to another station, period. Any way you slice it, Bill is doing a bang-up job with the station. Keep up the great work Bill!!
Wimpy mumbling. To quote The Critic, IT STINKS!
more RED HOUSE PAINTERS!!
Sounds like Donovan on Quaaludes
The opening instrumental sounded very Nick Drake like... a good thing, IMHO.
zzzzzz I\'m going into a stupor.
This sounds great.
Red House Painters are really good. I would love to hear \"Michigan\" from their album Old Ramon.
I am so happy to have more Red House Painters - awesome addition!!!
that was really fantastic. I\'ve only ever heard \"all mixed up\" before. I was browsing around, reading moby\'s online journal at moby.com and listening to that tune, it fit in quite well!
I really think this song should be played...and other RHP songs added. ;)
