Even if it's not a "good" track, this is still a good track.  No one spins as lovely a melody as Knopfler.

Love Mark Knopfler, but this...'song'... is a dud. The whole thing sounds like an intro where nothing ever develops or  kicks into any kind of melody.

He writes and plays some of the most exquisite melodies to be heard. Of course, his guitar is off the charts.
He's an automatic 8 for me.

Anyway, if you like this (and better stuff), my fave ST album of his is Local Hero.

As for this movie, I saw it without English subtitles and—try as we may to listen very intently—the brogue was often too thick as to be intelligible.

Cause and effect may be difficult to establish: is it highly rated Mark Knopfler because it's pretty Celtic, or is it highly rated pretty Celtic because it's MK? Either way, it certainly illustrates Mr. Knopfler's musical talents in orchestration and composition. Excellent tune.
