Those were the times, my friend.
10,10,10,10,10,10....I still have this on my MP3, still sing to it in the car, and still love its wonderful memory tug, "monday, I got friday on my mind..."  oh yeah...still holds true.

{#Dancingbanana_2}  ...even my old man looks good...

Wonderful interplay of notes on that opening guitar riff. Lotsa great energy in this one and have loved it since it first came out in the 60's.

getting a bit previous with this Friday segue methinks

OK, you talked me into it—   10.

In case anyone was wondering, this song is from the album "Soundtrack of Jade's Life", circa 1966.

I am still here and still rockin'!

ok this is 4 votes for the Bowie version.   Actually how bout anything off of Pin Ups?  {#Yes}

Hear, hear!

(And some tracks from Todd's Rundgren's "Faithful" albumn would also be nice . . . . )

Genuinely surprised this is only garnering a 7. Sounds pretty ahead of its time, and I'm loving the chord progression.
Not sure if this rating is in response to the original or not...but this song rocks! YES!
Oh dang! I just tuned in two songs after this played. Sorry I missed it... I could have used the positive energy!

Oh, yay! Let's hear more from the invasion era (yes, I know they were Aussies, not Brits, but still . . . )
Wow, a "Friday" set—and it's only Tuesday. Bummer.
Wow. I haven't heard this for decades.

I do hear music and lyrics. Maybe you should power on your speakers the next time?

One of the best pop songs ever written.
I was singing this this morning!
so fresh ... first concert I ever went to, lots of pretty girls and good times ... cheers Paradise {#Crowded}
Well that takes me back a year or two! And just in case there's some confusion the Easybeats version was the original, written by  Vanda & Young and recorded in 1966, covered subsequently by everyman and his dog.

Check out Bowie's version on "PinUps." SO much fun.

Huh? Maybe they ripped off someone (It is a long rock tradition), but I don't think it was the Animals.

I am slain by the backup singing :roflol:
One of the greatest "I've just gotta get through the work week" songs -- and it's a Friday!!! A far, far simpler time: I'm going to have fun in the city. Be with my girl, she's so pretty.

Wow - this goes back a bit!! The guitarist & vocalist of this Australian group is George Young - elder brother to Angus & Malcolm Young of AC/DC fame. Didn't The Cure do a version of this song?
The Cure did Friday I'm in Love. not the same song, but fun none the less.

This is so good! It's outstanding in a field all by itself. This is one of the best reasons why the music of the sixties will never be topped. It's nice to be reminded that someone other than Bowie did this even though his version was great too. The Easybeats version of this song crystalizes some of the best moments of the sixties for me. Thanks Bill. :sunny:
Ditto, even though I wasn't alive then. This is such a great track!! (And so true...)

Been years since I heard this. I used to listen to a classic rock station that was privately owned in LaRose, LA they played the classic stuff not overplayed on the other classic stations. They changed to cajun music and I lost the only good classic station around. At least the good New Rock/Alternative station has escaped the grips of ClearChannel. If only RP was on XM...... <-o<
