YES!  like it could spin out of control any moment.

i wish this was longer!
There was a lot going on in this piece.
Thanks again RP, you turned me on to another artist

Why I listen to RP. Something I have not heard, something that doesn't suck.

Good job Bill.

It appears that this comment was meant for the song that often follows it, Under African Skies, by Paul Simon.

lordy - layers of syncopation. and brilliant new set start. way to go - again, bill. and the DRUMMING is lays down the whole thang y'all.
That got my attention... Hmmmm
Catchy and 'warm' somehow.
I see a new addition to the collection in my future...
The sound of home, how I do miss walking under those African skies
Hmmm, I thought it was bloody irritating. But on seeing the comments below, maybe I should have another listen.
Great sound.... i kept waiting for the lyrics to kick in an move this from a 6 to a 7...
I hope we get this as an MP3 - soon!  It is only available on (used?) CD's at this point ...  :-(

kinda crazy sounding like in a good way..{#Cheers}
I love how it sounds like it's barely being held together.
This just went to an EIGHT !!  (imho)

There is a crescendo coming at some point.
a : a gradual increase; specifically : a gradual increase in volume of a musical passage

Maybe this was the song from the violin concert

sounds like they were going for a Velvet Revolver/Zep feel morphed with a soupcon of Stewart in the middle for a moment...

Very very interesting...
Always loved 7/4 tunes.

Thanks a lot, Bill!
This is soooo cool.  I'd like to see him play, from the first or second row. The anticipation of getting to the top of the scale is nicely managed...

Yea, dig the Gooding.

I sure thought this was a Fleetwood Mac song at the beginning.  {#Daisy}

I know what you mean. Each time I hear the beginning of it I think it is from Satriani's Surfing With The Alien.
This guy is AMAZING live. I've never seen anyone play a guitar like that on stage before save a couple of the greatest of the great. Met Gooding a number of times. Sweet, truly humble, kind, fun, and motivated. So wonderful to hear him here on Radio Paradise. Thank you!
beginning sounds like a cell phone ring tone?
Tricky syncopation, unusual harmony progression, excellent guitar playing...just what I love.
I only wish it was a little longer - but then again, I think it would feel unneccessarily stretched.

This track is way cool.

Intriguing music, well recorded, and nice interplay between the instruments.

Nice feel, too.

For me,what RP stands for.

I don't hear that. It's straight 7 time. Maybe the syncopations make it sound like something more complex.

Interesting observation. I had a feeling that the drummer was a fan of Clem Burke and dropped counts.

I like it — but WHY does it sound so familiar? I don't think I've heard it here before... at least, I hadn't rated it, and the cover and name don't look familiar...
I thought the beginning of this was my cellphone.  {#Ask}
Drumming reminds me of Bonzo.

Me = digs the song, bought it off eBay.

Fun with harmonics!

Yes! It took some time for me to truly appreciate it, but there are some outstanding nuggets on this album and much of Gooding's other work.

Nice progressions.
vachement trop bien !
Great drumming. Like it a lot.
Percussion magic! Throwing me for a loop, in a good way.
got my attention, cool.
Oh looping harmonics how I love thee. Props to the guitarist for playing it with speed and accuracy.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! Move along now Citizen, there is nothing of interest here. That was a dub error I think.

This drummer's been listening to Bonzo.
But then again, what good drummer hasn't?

A slow 6/8? (Reply to smoothlandings)
Time signature on this one?
Anyone else hear that skip at the beginning every time this song is played?
sure, why not?
This little tune is seriously cool in a quirky kind of way.
Follow-up to previous message: Received the CD in the mail yesterday and listened to it on the way to work this morning - made the commute across a traffic-clogged 7-mile bridge almost enjoyable. Thanks, RP, for turning me on to an artist I surely never would have discovered otherwise. Best 80 cents I've ever spent!
Unbelievable... I just bought this album 'used' on Amazon after hearing it for the first time here (follow the link from RP - it benefits the station) for less than 80 cents!! Made my day.
I just wish Itunes would offer this song.
Hopeful and inspiring.
What a cool little song
Joe Satriani- summer song?

Right u r! I think sometimes it's in 6.5/8 time, where he breaks half way thru the 6th measure. This is a called a broken time signature and it's not something you see much except in progressive rock and classical European music from the late 19th and early 20th century. The most popular song in 7/8 time? Probably Peter Gabriel's Salisbury Hill. I'm giving this song a 9. It's outstanding.
I'd like more from this artist. Someone who has more, please upload to the Listener Review Channel!
I don't know who or what this is, but it's excellent. I'd like to hear it more often. Ooh, and you followed it with Talking Heads.
Is the rest of the album any good? Anybody know?
I just came in on the tail end of that, sounds sweet!
This band (or at least this song) sounds remarkably like the band Unwed Sailor. Edit: That's a good thing.
What a perfect song to help me zone out after a stress-ing day!
I like this band. This is the only band I've ever noticed that posts their technical rider for gigs on their website.

I was just coming here to bitch about the same thing. Patience isn't one of my strong suits, but hey, not much choice!

I think they get a nickel or a quarter per song from itunes. It would be easier for Bill and Rebecca if you would just boost your donation rather than sell songs from this website. A lot of little purchases like that through this site wouldn't be scalable, I doubt. Anyway, they should focus on setting up the sweet playlists rather than hawking music ala carte.
I also would like to buy this song.. but Itunes still doesn't have it. Radio Paradise, can't you set up a similar way to purchase music? I continually run to Itunes after hearing a song on your show.. but I'd be willing to pay $2 per song if I could get it through your site. I send $10 to $20 a month to Radio Paradise, but you might get more if you were able to get a cut from the songs I buy from Itunes.
Lullaby indeed...

Not in my opinion. Don't get me wrong. It is worth the buy, but a few of the tracks demand to be skipped. I'd erase them from the CD if I could. Thus the advantages of iTunes and the like.

Very clever stuff. More please!
I really got lost in that delightful rhythm.

Thanks, I really needed that at the moment.
Just went out and picked up two of his CDs after hearing him here. Life Itself, which this track is from, is excellent. There are five Lullabyes scattered throughout the album. The rest are rock songs with Gooding\'s unique laid-back but still driving style. Goodings previous CD, 3X, is 11 instrumental tracks. They are unique mixes of rock, electronica, jazz and blues. A very cool listen. I highly recommend both disks if you can find them.
Hadn\'t heard this one in a while... Good song.

Love the \"catch\" in the beat. This is the reason I keep coming back to RP: the surprising tune that you just don\'t here anywhere else. Thanks Bill!
